Sad news

Just saw a post on Facebook that Roger Rager passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 16. A successful, fiercely independent driver who made the most out odd a little and did so on his terms. May he Race in Peace!

Didn't he show up (with a sprint car) in FL this time of year like 12years ago or so and run GOOD down there still too?

Not sure how many years ago it was, but I was at East Bay and Roger drove the wheels off the car every lap each night. Unlike others who are spectacular, he always seemed calm and under control.

Brent I believe that may have been Sprint Bandits TNT races 2006 @ East Bay your talking about.
I was there also, and remember Roger too.

Was always great to see Roger lift the front end of a sprint car off of the ground using the front bumper and doing curls!! Last time I saw him do it was in 2003 at the Mopar Million with his ride in Jamie Millers car. He was 55 then!

You were right -

I was too young/not born yet for his "School Bus Engine" Indycar days, but his run in these races made him relevant, in non-wing sprints, in "my time".
