Non-Wing HOF

Since Knoxville HOF is only for wing people, where do non-wing people get recognized for their lifelong accomplishments/contributions?

cowboyhar69 1/12/22 2:53 PM

Plenty of non wing drivers and car owners in the Knoxville HOF

Tough to complain this year when Eric Gordon, Bob Frey and Tony Stewart are all going into the NSCHOF for their non-wing accomplishments. I do agree it is a shame Paul Hazen did not get voted in again.

That is my thoughts also, because I helped get a local in.

Disappointed again this year with no Jon Stanbrough.

And Eric Gordon has done exactly what in a winged sprint car? They do a decent job of putting in both, not to say they are perfect, but they usually get it right eventually.

Hazen got screwed again

PJ Wright 1/12/22 6:06 PM

Without a doubt, Paul Hazen deserves to be in the HoF.

Sprints fan 11 1/13/22 2:47 PM

USAC has a hall of fame.

You have to be 50, before you can get in!! Stanbrough isn't 50, till April!! He won't be eligible till 2023!! 😉👍👍

I think Jon is like 53-54

Robert Hoffman Should also be in.

cowboyhar69 1/17/22 9:10 PM

Not 100 % positive on this but I think a driver has to be retired for 5 years also. Has it been 5 years since Jon retired…..I can’t remember.

I know that's correct in stick and ball hall of fames but there are several in sprint car hall that were still racing when they entered. IE Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell.

I think Stanbrough retired after the 2017 season.

treecitytornado 1/18/22 4:46 AM

Rex W. Jon, will be 50 in April of this year. I said, he wasn't 50 yet in my previous post!

He won't like you're making him out to be an old man, already, lol!! 😉👍👍

treecitytornado 1/18/22 4:51 AM

Cowboyhar69, that is definitely NOT the case!! Steve Kinser, was in Inducted in 2005!! He was 10 plus years away from Retiring! Many others haven't fully retired & got in! The Only Requirement is you must turn 50 before they Vote, which is normally around January of every year. 😁👍👍

Well Jon would be mad too when you wish him hbd in April, but it’s actually in October 😬
