Anyone hear about what teams/drivers are coming?
On the events Facebook page I’ve seen that Chase Briscoe, Chris Bell, and T-Mez are coming. Anyone else confirmed? |
TMEZ has a ride at the Rumble

Re: DuQuoin Indoor race
Is there an entry list anywhere to be found? Would love to see it if there is.
Also, is there any information regarding what time spectator admittance to the stands will be allowed? |

Re: DuQuoin Indoor race
Lets hope that two of the few indoor midget races do not have to be on the same weekend next year...(I realize why Ft Wayne did it but ideally not again)

Other than write ups mentioning Bell and Briscoe racing, I’ve basically seen nothing about the race lately and it’s already Wednesday night, only a couple more nights til race day. No idea about who is racing other than 2 or 3 cars, no order of events posted. USAC hasn’t posted and article previewing the event... For this time of year it’s a pretty major race, you’d think people would be talking about it more... |

Re: DuQuoin Indoor race
Dirt draft currently has 34 drivers to chose from. Now that’s not final as a few may not show up or someone may decide to enter late. Notables listed are Bell, Briscoe, Thorson, Daum, Moles, Neuman, Robinson, Crum, Johnson, Berryhill, Jordan Kinser ( driving Briscoe car), Babb and Cromwell. And Kayla Roell, who Jerry Shaw likes as someone to keep eye on, which he’s usually right.

Re: DuQuoin Indoor race
I see they are having a lot of mini-sprint racing Friday with their features on Saturday with USAC. The ad I saw said $8000 grand prize? I would think 30 plus midgets if that is to win. T-Mez is entered at Ft. Wayne. I wonder if he is only there for Friday and runs Du Q Saturday.

Hour for track prep?

Deleted post. Let my aggravation boil over a bit.

Sure glad I didn’t go

The added 5 classes worth of features really killed the night tonight. Not only did they take forever to run they used up the track a lot more thus requiring a lot more track prep than normal. Not sure who was really calling the shots on this one but had several fans around me from decent distances saying they weren’t coming back.

They never let the track get dried out or slicked off. They'd take ten/ fifteen minutes about five times during the night. Lightly water and drag it. Not three or four half hour or longer major reworks. I barely had time to get outside, have a smoke and get back before next race. I didn't go. But I also turned it off and went to bed. Always been the plan to do this race again. But it's a two day trip for me. I will if it's better than that. We had fifty seven midgets at the event I went too there. Thirty seven is still great. |
One thing to remember is this is the rescheduled Leffler race which always has 5+ classes. Normally the indoor DQ shows have maybe 2 classes. Would’ve been crappy to reschedule only the midgets and tell the rest sorry about your luck. Still, we weren’t mad when the race was over and we just had to a walk a few steps to a nice warm bed.

Re: DuQuoin Indoor race
Everything about Du Quoin was deplorable. Five open wheel classes with outside temps at 35 degrees, sheesh. Superb track prep taking up my valuable time. Walking out of there at the ungodly hour of 1130 pm. The only reason Im going back next year and the year after etc etc is to see if they can screw it up any worse than they did this year :deadhorse:

What made this event so distasteful was not the "UnGodly hour" that it concluded. It was the fact that hot laps began at 3 PM. Do the math. As spectators we were forced to endure over 8 hours to see the complete show and approximately 7 hours to see the headline division push off for their A-main. I have no factual data as to the percentage of people who paid their hard earned cash to see the USAC National Midgets but I suspect it was heavily in favor of them.
We had 3 in our group. One gentleman of our group drove 8 1/2 hours one way primarily to see the midgets. The other two, my wife & I, traveled 4 1/2 hours one way and we coughed up the price of lodging. All three of us would gladly spend what it cost to attend again down the line sometime, lodging and all, IF there are no more than 3 total divisions to be run on Saturday night. We will NEVER attend another that consists of any more that 2 additional support classes. NEVER! We're not alone. We were surrounded by folks who feel much the same. We'll stay home and watch the replay the following day and circumvent the sore ass and remain in possession of $300.00+ of our hard earned cash and get a good nights sleep. The least they could have done if they were bent on doing a marathon was run the midget A-main first as opposed to holding so many hostage to a 8 1/2 hour test of will and endurance. |
