Casey Shuman electric midget

Anyone know who was behind it or have any info or contact info on it?

PIT CART 12/12/21 5:47 PM

Is this the one that hot lapped at LPS a few years ago?

BC, I almost had an electric motor for my tq, when Kyle was still at Remy, they offered what was needed to make the change, tech support, batteries and other needed equipment, and I was ready to make the rest of the changes on my end, then the market on their end took a down turn, and it was over in a heartbeat, but that would have been a lot of fun to try, might have kept my interest up.

badcoupe 12/12/21 7:58 PM

Kinda curious on what motor/battery and controller they used.

TQ29m 12/12/21 8:23 PM

They had evidently done their due diligence on the application, I think they had decided a 20hp motor would equate to the alcohol burner I had in it, the rest would be for that motor, wiring and batteries and controllers, they were to send me the motor, then I was to take the car to them in Anderson and they would do the rest, sure would have been worth the effort, might have been in on the beginning.

GM has a vision of an all-electric fleet of vehicles by 2035. Most other car companies have also made statements of growing their electric fleet considerably in the future. If the Big 3 tell NASCAR that they want to race an electric car, how long would it be before this would come down to the grass roots racing? #IWorkForGM

THIS is what the WRG midget series should be! :5::5:

Someone had an electric midget at The Chili Bowl several years ago. They had one of the drivers hot lap it during a break in the action. The name of the driver who hot lapped it escapes me now but he was cutting some pretty good laps. It was very odd hearing nothing but electric motor and gear whine along with some tire noise. The car at Chili Bowl may well have been the same car as hot lapped at LPS.

I'm all in favor of saving the environment, but what I've always wondered is if every car is electric, won't that require a huge increase of the electrical grid? How will all that power be generated? Won't that also pollute? :11:
As for race cars, NO WAY! :42::

The race track has aways served as a laboratory for auto manufactures. I think we are in the 55 Chevy V8 stage of development for electric vehicles. Maybe Model T stage. Various classes of electric race cars with top name drivers is probably going to happen sooner than we think. I imagine by 2050 the internal combustion will be a rare bird. People used to think the horse would never be replaced

China made solar panels and windmills will solve everything...if its not cloudy and there is wind...lol.

I bet one would really excel at a indoor track like ft Wayne or Atlantic City. Seemed like more than half the cars at sema and many at pri were electric. I’m not the biggest fan but the novelty of it interests me.

Might have to put some playing cards in the spokes!

Im sure getting them light enough and lasting long enough, driving them could be as thrilling as anything else.

But I saw a sprint car test about twenty years ago that had factory car mufflers and you couldn't even hear when he was on the gas. BORING. And that's the way I see that going as far as spectating. The sound, vibration and feel is every bit a part of that.

I mean they could probably build a electric today that would outrun a Top Fuel or Nitro Funny Car. But that sound, the someone smacking you in the chest feel of raw power is what attracts me. F1 was putting on these battery powered races and that did nothing for me.

May be the future. who knows, as for racing, meh.

You're probably being sarcastic, but I hope that comes true eventually, minus the China part. No reason we can't make that stuff ourselves. China is way ahead at the moment, unfortunately :(

Blackduce 12/14/21 1:58 AM

VW just canceled there Electric car project. Saying they see so many problems to make a saleable car. They did not say what the problems were.

No I wasn't...

"...The simple answer to this commonly asked question is East Asia, and you will notice that the majority of the top ten manufacturers are Chinese as the bulk of global solar panels are manufactured there. East Asia has become the solar manufacturing hub of the world..." - everything else is made in China (like our prescription drugs), why wouldn't the majority of solar panels be made there???

I know they're way ahead. But we can do it too!

I'm not a big fan of the EV scene, but I could see how it could help with noise restrictions for some tracks. I know the EV fires are real bad, but will be fixed down the road.

I think one of the bigger things would be the lack of noise. You'd have to make some sound emitter that wouldn't fail so the drivers would know where each other are. If it fails someone would probably get sent to the moon off a bad slider.
One fix for that would be mirrors or spotters and that's a thing that should NEVER happen.

I lost interest in the Thunder Boats when the turbines replaced the Merlin engines. The woosh just didn't move me line the noise and the ground literally shaking. The same thing would have happened to Indy Car if they hadn't outlawed the turbine car. To me a part of racing is the sound of all that power. I even enjoy listening to them thumping around during wheel pack.

I also love listening to the cars Thump and mishit at low RPM's. However, electric cars will be racing sooner than you think. We already have 200mph electric drag cars. In 2035, GM's fleet will be all electric. It only makes sense that they will want to race what they are manufacturing. #IWorkForGM
