5/15/2021 - Lawrenceburg Speedway - BOSS/Burg Showdown
Lawrenceburg, IN – The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series will make their annual trek to the Lawrenceburg Speedway Saturday night to complete the Hoosier state doubleheader for the traveling series.
Gas City I-69 Speedway opens the weekend Friday night and then current BOSS point leader Drew Rader will lead the BOSS racers to southeastern Indiana for the “BOSS/Burg Showdown” against the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints on the 3/8ths mile high banks of the Lawrenceburg Speedway. Lawrenceburg has been a fixture on the BOSS schedule since 2012 with sixteen races scheduled over the last ten seasons. The spring 2017 race was halted by rain after the heats were run, the 2018 event was a complete washout, and last year's event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thirteen BOSS events have been held at the Burg to date, 133 drivers have competed in those races with 105 making at least one feature start. Justin Owen and Shawn Westerfeld are the only drivers to compete in every event. Westerfeld, the 2013 Lawrenceburg Speedway track champion and the 2015 and 2016 BOSS series champion, is the only driver to have started every feature. Westerfeld has two wins, seven top-five, and nine top-ten finishes in those twelve races. Justin Grant (winner of the first BOSS event at Lawrenceburg on June 9, 2012), CJ Leary, and Thomas Meseraull have equaled Westerfeld, each scoring a pair of feature wins, while Nick Bilbee, Josh Hodges, Jordan Kinser, and Joss Moffatt have visited Signarama victory lane once under the BOSS banner. Bilbee, the 2020 Lawrenceburg Speedway track champion, and current point leader is also the defending feature winner of the most recent “BOSS/Burg Showdown” held on May 18, 2019, where he led the final four laps over Scotty Weir, Bill Rose, Ty Tilton, and Shawn Westerfeld. The sprint portion of the program will be run under BOSS rules and sanction and will utilize the standard BOSS purse of $2,000 to win and $300 to start the 25-lap feature. BOSS/Burg Showdown Feature Payout ($10,250 total) In addition to the BOSS drivers battling the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint drivers Saturday night racing will also feature the KOI Auto Parts UMP Modifieds, Impact Sports Pure Stocks, and the Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornets. The pit gate will open at 4:00 pm and the front gate at 5:00 pm. Practice is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm with opening ceremonies at 7:00 pm. Adult general admission is $20, children (7-12) are $7, while those 6 and under are free. Pit passes are $30 for all ages. Long time Lawrenceburg Speedway supporter Chris Smith has added $200 to the winners check for the KOI Auto Parts Modified. Now $800 to win. Also added $100 to hard charger for Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints. Thanks Chris!

After looking at the podium from last night BOSS race at Gas, I’ll bet the regulars are not happy the USAC midgets rained out at Sweet Springs
|
Our racing family will be in the house tonight at the burg. Should be a good car count and some great racing events. Have fun and enjoy the great things that we all love. God bless America. Thanks.

OK, My fault. Thought the owner told me he bought it from Rob. Knew the pavement sprint was the former Hoffman car. Anyway, Good car.
Couldn't reply earlier, kept getting a Error Code. Grant from fifteenth. Got it turned around as he started pole of his heat and fell back to seventh before moving back up to the last transfer in fourth. TMez led the first half before bacon caught him and they swapped the lead a couple times Kendall was running top three most of the race till bacon and grant got up there. still ran well.. Grant grabbed lead about lap 20 or so. TMez made a amazing save after contact about put him in the wall. fell back to fifth but came back to third. Had a great night Thanks to everyone, crews, teams, track, drivers, Mr Fry.. |

McDougal Hopkins J Swanson Barksdale D Ray Swanson was absolutely killing them running the top for the first 3/4 of this race. For some reason that I would never understand not being a driver he decided to move to the bottom on the next to last restart and McDougal then Hopkins flew past on the top. Guess it was just one of those times the fastest car didnt win. Nice night for Barksdale he was in the hunt all night. |
