Saturday at Joliet

Looks like this Saturday we’re going to have what I’m considering a home game for us, the Allstars co-sanctioned with the IRA, along with the Wisconsin Wingless Sprints at the Rt 66 dirt oval. Depending on road construction, we can get there in about 45 minutes which makes it the closest sprint track to our base of operations, the Race Garage in beautiful Gary Indiana. We’re probably going to go down early and do some tailgating. And unless something has changed our good buddy Cigar Dave was planning on stopping by for some fun and always entertaining insight. If you’re going too, stop by and say hi as well

Love watching them the few times I've been to Wilmot. That is the class that would be good for Indiana tracks that don't run regular 410 Non-Wing sprints weekly. When Plymouth started the Crate Wing Sprint class I thought that wasn't a good idea and would have much rather seen them go the route of the Crate Non-Wing deal that the Wisconsin WingLess has. They have a great car count and good support from the drivers and teams. Would love to see them come into Illinois more at Fairbury, LaSalle, Kankakee. Maybe even into Indiana at Plymouth & Shadyhill. Would be a great class to have during the Kokomo Klash in October.

I believe Wisconsin WingLess actually ran at Fairbury in conjunction with WAR back in October of 2017 or 2018. That combination raced at Fairbury just one time. I'm not sure if the Wisconsin group was scheduled at Fairbury the following year but that is immaterial since that event was cancelled 2 weeks before the scheduled date due to rain.

The people at Fairbury said they lost a pile of money on the one show they hosted (I believe they called it Sprint Mania) and that turned out to be the reason they cancelled 2 weeks ahead, not the rain, so it's a bit of a long shot that they'll ever be back.

Keeping an eye on the weather. We’re in a holding pattern at the moment

Let’s go!

It’s still on in joliet?

flagboy55 5/15/21 5:23 PM

It is but some stupidity has set in. We’re waiting in a line in our car to, I’m not sure what. But it’s hardly moving. Probably state related

flagboy55 5/15/21 5:24 PM

Because Illinois is still stupid with restrictions

All set up. Track looks great and a bunch of cars

I have to give a review. Saturday’s race at Joliet was very good. The track crew did an amazing job in my opinion considering the precipitation that had fallen and even a slight mist not too long before cars on track. The Allstars and IRA combined for great car count and racing, and dispelled the myth of slick track is better. ITS NOT. The track was blazing fast. The Wisconsin Wingless put on a great show also. My bud Oppweld says they have the proper template for a spec class and once again he’s correct. They were entertaining. Now I have one criticism. Well maybe 2 but I take blame for the first. Having been going there since the very first race, which I proudly waved the Flags over, I have never been there where if you got there early you couldn’t get in and set up some chairs and hang out. Well maybe I missed it somewhere but we got there and hour early and couldn’t get in. Luckily there’s a couple breweries nearby to kill some time. But when we did get back we found that you couldn’t enter the property without your ticket. Well this meant there was one line that lead to 3 ticket stations to drive up to. This line was painfully slow, almost to the point we considered leaving. Glad we stayed but hopefully they go back to the ticket booth for the next event. I must say this, the crew at the track are some of the most friendly staff I’ve seen at a track so hat shake to them

And you got to see Tim Cox race. I thought that was pretty cool.

Great observation Brent, and I agree
