First time at Kokomo
Hey! I’m going to Kokomo for the first time this Friday. What’s the rules for seating? Coolers? And what’s the best seat in the house? Thanks in advance. And also what is the place to eat that I believe Josh Spencer(?) ,apology if that’s not the right name l, always talks about ? Blue moon or something?

Re: First time at Kokomo
I like the back stretch bleachers, you can get up higher & see more, usually not as crowded

Thanks! Now that I think about it Blue Moon is the beer !
|
If you like the place with wangs, come back in three week and get your mind blown with a two day doubleheader of Non wing sprints and midgets!

Backstretch both sun and wind will be at your back.
Don't even attempt to take a coke or something thru the gates. |
Half Moon is great! Definitely need to stop there. I prefer backstretch as well. The Outlaw show there last October was bananas. It was a great show!

Re: First time at Kokomo
Awesome racetrack, have some food and beverage before you go in. I heard that they make you spit your chewing gum out before you enter the track.lol. Any show there is bound to be a good one.

Thanks so much for all the responses! My
Home track is putnamville. But my wife has never seen a world of outlaw show and I think winged fan or not all race fans should experience that show. |
For me, we are so lucky to have the O'Conners as great track owners who have turned this track into a show piece. Done with so much hard work.
I don't remember a track that has flowers planted around the grandstand. And remember they do not live in this state. These are real racing folks. We are so lucky. Lynn |
Truphy Putnamville is a great home track, but being that (relatively) close to Kokomo, what took you so long? I agree with you that the WOO is probably as good as it gets at Kokomo and Haubstadt too for that matter. The October race there was great as about every possible element lined up properly, weather, competition from other tracks, everything was perfect. The Allstars are off this weekend so I would expect many of their top teams to be there as they themselves run Kokomo in May for a tidy 26k. While the speedway is strict on their carry in policy, to the point of joking about it, the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Hope you enjoy your trip there. And like Oppweld says, you probably want to plan on coming back for the USAC Midgets

I would say most shows that aren’t nationally sanctioned events, parking is not an issue.
|
Re: First time at Kokomo
For a WoO show, especially with the newer bigger backstretch grandstand, parking is a HUGE issue.
Worth the pain, though. :) No outside food or beverages allowed. Fast moving concession stand under the main grandstand. |
Is this an SLS show?

Re: First time at Kokomo
Choo Choo McGoo's on Markland Ave has great food and they are great people and racing sponsors! :8::8::22:

They have a golf cart shuttling fans to and from - at least BEFORE the races. Then you have everyone parking along the East side of the highway between it and the railroad tracks. I always cringe when I see that. No carts, crossing the highway, 45 mph speed limit (maybe 55 mph?), possibly kids, parking on a berm..... and, if it rained prior to or during, the ground is soft, soggy, and muddy in all three of the above. All manageable, but just be aware that it can get cumbersome. Always a good time inside, though. Make sure to say "Hi" and thank Kim the greeter/bag inspector when you go in. |

Not sure where i should post this. I am planning on coming out to ISW from Az in july and was wondering if anyone had recommendations on RV parks best located for all of it or is there not one? Lawarenceburg seems to be the farthest track from the others. I could be mistaken, any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Will you be towing a car behind?
|
Re: First time at Kokomo
I had to park almost to County Road 300 N, which is about a half mile away, for the show in October. Just don’t show up at hot laps and you will be fine. I’m planning on going but will be late again. The wings are awesome on these small tracks, IMO.

Re: First time at Kokomo
Will be towing a Travel Trailer, i will be going to all of the indiana sprint week races and was just wondering if there was a centrally located RV park for all the tracks.
|
Re: First time at Kokomo
I have done the full ISW deal in an RV for 8 out of the last 9 years, traveling from AZ. Skipped last year because of Covid. There is not really a "central" camping area from which to travel the full circuit. All of the tracks have at least dry camping facilities. Terre Haute and Lawrenceburg have limited hookups. Seems that every year they get close to capacity quicker than the year before, but I have never yet been unable to find a space.

I have a toddler that is going through potty training. Would they allow a backpack with some extra clothes?
|
Yes, they will allow this. Hope you guys have fun!!!

I like to go to Terre Haute. You can get a covered camping spot if you get there early enough. It's 20 or 25 a night water and electric. Don't have to get up early and race to the next track to find a spot.

Have fun and enjoy all the great racing tracks that we have in the racing capital of the world. Nothing beats the great hospitality and the love of racing in the state of Indiana. Simply the best. I know that our racing families take advantage of the things that we have in our back yard. LOL. God bless America. Thanks.

What a crowd 🏁🏁

The food line is past the turn 5 pub. Talked to a lot of people that traveled a good distance to come here.
