Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
So bummed for Steve Buckwalter. He was going to win that thing
|
Kody Swanson did not approve based on his post race interview.
|
Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
usac needs some stones and should have put Buckwalter in back in the lead. Maybe Chris should have a black eye? my opinion.....
|
Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
Classy interview by Kody
|
Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
No call for either of them moves. Punted Kody almost to the guardrail then blatant takeout of buckwalter
Happy for Brady, But Steve had em covered. I'd like to say Karma struck but buckwalters still about five grand shy in the pocketbook than he should be. Yeah, Keyboard Jockey here. Was happy for Windom at the Burg, Zero in my book tonight. |

Windom claimed he had no brakes, but wasn’t afraid to drive it hard into 1. Guess he figured he’d use Buckwalter’s rear as his brakes. Not cool Big Daddy, not cool. Only justice was that his tire gave out and Bacon picked up the win. Congrats to him on his first silver crown win.

Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
If that had been Ballou he would have been suspended before he came to a stop.

Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
The no brakes on Buckwalter I could almost buy. Almost. The hitting Swanson four times in one corner, Not a chance.
|
Couldn’t believe what I was seeing when he turned twice into Swanson while trying to crash him. Then just ran through Buckwalter after removing Kody. Go back and watch the front wheels on both occasions, just wow.
|
I always try to give a champion the benefit of the doubt but last night was just not a good look for him.
|
Windom needs to stop worrying about that girl in the pits and keep his head on straight. Lost a lot of fans. A lot of people will forget about this and buy his shirt next year. Not us. I never will respect a driver like that.

Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
Perhaps he should just hand over his 9th place check.................

Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
Commenting on a couple of earlier post;
I feel terrible for Buckwalter but I am not a fan of putting him back in the lead. It's a slippery slope and it would open up a lot of heated debates in the future, right now you have a definitive rule and as much as it sucks for Buckwalter I think you keep it. I am not sure what the girl in the pits has to do with anything, I don't know them personally but it looks like they are busy doing their jobs while they are there. Besides, lots of drivers have girl's in the pits. Windom has always been aggressive and sometimes too aggressive but I will not let this keep me from rooting for him in the future. What I want to know is what Levi Jones was trying to say to Buckwalter in his trailer? I mean, what did you think you were going to say to make him feel better? Apologize on behalf of the organization and move on. |
Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
I think it calls for at least one race suspension.Usac has to put foot their foot down or your calling this acceptable behavior.
|
Oh please, watch the video, Swanson was trying to chop him into the inside guardrail that whole corner.
|
Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
If I was flagging the black flag would have been used before the last lap. Where are the officials?
Either you have rules and enforce them properly, or you have nothing. |
Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
No way Buckwalter gets his spot back. Also, no way Windom should have started the last restart. He should have been shown the black flag after taking out the leader. If USAC would have done that, a lot of this controversy would have died last night.
|
When the track is like pavement you’re bound to have “boogity boogity boogity” type incidents. Not blaming Williams Grove either, 100 laps on dirt is far too many.
|
Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
:17: USAC plan; USAC Star take out local who is leading the race. Inflame the racing public. Stir up PR for a series on life support. Pat the USAC star on the back for job well done. USAC go tell local runner "sorry to take you out, but it will be great for the sport". This is the same formula used to advance southern stock car racing. Expect more contrived rivalry in the three national series in the future. I hope no one gets hurt in the process.

Correct they did it to balllou last year still like windom that won't change he apologized can we just move along

To me it was racing. Plain and simple. If you want, fine the man after the race. But too many contrived rules would make the series a (bigger)joke. See Formula 1.....
This series is on life support, there's not a lot of interest anymore. Maybe it's time to give it the ax and let the sprinters take over at the remaining mile dirt tracks |

Two weeks later Du Quoin was nearly as good as Springfield and it also was 100 laps/miles on dirt but it was run after dark. |

I read what Windom said post race and the fact is only Windom knows the facts and what his intentions were in both incidents. I think the primary thing these events showed is that there is no longer any respect among some of the racers. The sport (at least at this level) for some has become a “win at any cost” situation. The days of “race hard, race clean” appear to be behind us, and I find that sad.

Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
I rarely give my opinion on this board but just in case USAC is looking. USAC please stay with what has got this sport to where it is. I love that you leave it in the racers hands to handle ON TRACK issues. I feel confident in saying most don’t want to start seeing judgement calls in this sport. Many of our legends are who they are for not only their racing accolades but how they handled themselves on and off (think Hewitt and Bob Kinser). In the 35 years I have been going to the track I happen to think the product and smoothness of the events has never been better. Thank you and stay the course.

Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
The thing that concerns me more than anything isn't humorous at all. If you have intentional bumping at the front of the field, you have no control over what it could turn into. Someone getting upside down running upfront in a feature could be severe on many levels. Not managing the action is asking for trouble.

Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
Well karma got him in the end.
|
The Swanson incident:
The track was rubbered down and single file, Swanson jumped out of the rubber and was being freight trained and tried to squeeze Chris out and force him to lift so Kody could get back in the rubber. Good for Chris for staying in it and holding his ground. The Buckwalter incident: That was absolutely ridiculous and terrible mistake that just should not have happened. Just drove completely over top of Steve. He should have been sent to the tail for the incident for rough driving, no 2 ways about it. But I don't support giving a guy his spot back for being dumped. Even if it was a wrong done unto the guy I dont like undoing what happened on track. Let the drivers work all that out moving forward. Atleast karma came to visit with Windom losing the race in the corner that he stole it from Buckwalter. |
Re: Well....What About That Silver Crown Race?
23 Seconds in. If that isn't a right turn of his wheels right into swansons nerf, I don't know what is.

I think all that was product of the first bump and 2 guys not lifting trying to get or stay in the rubber.
