Haubstadt Weather?

How wet is the ground already? Any guesses if we'll race tonight?

Ground hard as a rock. I’m no meteorologist , but I’d say mom nature sure owes TSS one tonight. We will be there.

Sunny now - looks like 50/50 chance of passing storm around 4:30. Sure Tommy can keep the track raceable if thats all we get

bmemmer 5/26/19 12:00 PM

Just remember a hand full of years ago. We had 2 and half inches of rain when the program started and with all the cars and people in the stands Tommy and crew decided to race and after a 2 hour delay we got it in. Get there early and pack the stands!!

rclaridge 5/26/19 1:06 PM

If I was a betting man I’d bet heavy they get the race in tonight!!

Small cell moved through a little while ago. Don’t think it’s to much to be concerned with. Hopefully stuff behind it will break up.

We are racing. A small cell did come through. The radar looks better than it did this morning. Updates will be posted on the Tri State Speedway Facebook page.

Cummins, Leary, KT Jr.
Perfect track after heavy afternoon rain.
Leary bitches about doctored tires.
KT bitches about track and flips off crowd on way out.
Lost what little respect I had for both of those two.

oppweld 5/26/19 10:53 PM

I think if it went green to checker neither would have made the podium to complain!

Completely agree!
Big crybabies!

btg1963 5/27/19 1:31 AM

Word in the pits after the show was that tires were discussed in the driver’s meeting prior to the races. The USAC regulars (Thomas, Leary, & possibly others) asked about “prepped tires”. MSCS officials said more or less anything goes.

As others pointed out, if the track was one lane, how did Carson Short and Robert Ballou come from the back to the front? Kyle Cummins and Hank Byrum are back together and have picked up where they left off in 2017. Was the fans saw tonight was a second straight dominant performance at TSS by the 3R team.

Kevin Thomas Jr. just lost a big fan tonight and as a person that purchased over 29K worth of equipment from Grainger last year, I will be speaking with my local representative Tuesday morning to share my opinion about their marketing partner. His language and actions after the race were totally uncalled for, especially in front of young children.

As for C.J. Leary, get over it. You too have lost several fans tonight. You got taken to the woodshed tonight and I’m not sure your “Haubstadt Car” would have helped. If I had been Tom Helfrich, I would have pulled the three sets of tires from the three cars and swapped them. Then ran the three podium finishers for a five lap trophy dash. I doubt the result would have been any different...

Wait. The track/series is actually condoning cheating? Why are we mad at the drivers?

It’s not cheating if the series allows it.

You are absolutely correct Wahoo.

On the other hand, USAC rules do NOT allow tire treatment, yet I know for a fact that most top USAC sprint car teams are indeed treating their tires for USAC shows and others................so who is really cheating???

Like my mother always said, the pot shouldn't call the kettle black.

JordanBlanton 5/27/19 6:46 PM

While Chief Wahoo makes a fair point regarding cheating (and I checked MSCS rules on the site to be sure they didn’t explicitly disallow tire tampering), why have a tire rule if you can alter said spec tire? It seems like a solid assumption that the intent of the rule is to have an unaltered spec tire. After all, spec tires are supposed to ‘level the playing field.’ If the purpose of the tire rule is $$ from Hoosier, make it a 4-corner Hoosier rule and let guys mount 10s or 12s or whatever they want. With the caveat that I did not hear Leary’s interview, I can 100% see how a spec tire rule which allows ‘anything goes’ regarding prepping that tire would make a team racing on unaltered tires upset.

It's very ironic that someone such as CJ Leary would bring up the issue of tire prepping, maybe we should pull up the test from the USAC race at Ocala this year, the night he won, and really dissect what that test said. As someone else said hard for the pot to call the kettle black and act like you are an innocent party.

Do you know this for a fact, or just rumors? Not saying you don't, just wondering who and when?
