D.O., thanks for the results. Looks like an excellent field of drivers. Interesting with that Jones/Hines flip and the Championship implications.

It was slide job city. One of the most exciting races I've ever seen. Sad to see Levi and Tracy get into it. Levi showed his nose a few time prior to the wreck. Once Levi saw his chance, he took it. Tracy didn't seem to want to give Levi any room and the rest, as they say, is history.
Hockett looked amazing, as did Swindell.
Also, great job by the track safety crew, they got out very fast and did what they needed to do to keep the drivers safe.

Yeah, I agree about all the work being done on the red flags. I was OK with the tire management aspect of it, but now guys are changing con-rods and stuff :rolling

This does nothing but benefit the larger teams. I think they should stick to safety issues (tires) because they can't police the entire fields actions, and it winds up looking like they are playing to the favorites

What r u talking about, changed "con-rods and stuff"?

I think you should be able to change anything you want on a red as long as you are ready to push off when the truck gets behind you, if not you go to the tail.

Reminds me of a Hut Hundred when the owner of the Jones and Hines cars was involved in a similar situation with a Steve Lewis teammate. Kenny Irvin took out Tony and himself with a slider at the east end. Kenny had already commited himself and Tony seemed to have chosen not to let off.

"Change con-rods and stuff" :rolling

Guess you didn't see the smiley?

My point is, once you allow everyone to do ANYTHING to the cars under a red flag condition, sooner or later someone is going to allow another team extra time, and then you are opening up a giant can of worms. IMO (in my opinion) I have seen it happen

So was there any kind of altercation b/t Hockett and Cardey?

Someone must have thrown something at Jesse. Heard him say over the mic "Thanks whoever did that. Come on down to my trailer and get a free t-shirt.":icon_smile_blackeye

Just for the record, the fans in Ca. love the Rocket.Anyone who can ring the outside of Perris ,2 ft. off the wall on the cusion, full throttle...yah we love that guy! If some moron disrespected Mr. Hocket ,I'm sorry, but don't think the fans on the West coast don't know a talented ,classy guy when we see one.

I believe the Cardey fans were just booing Hockett. He handled it quite well...

Jesse was fun to watch long before he even cracked the top-five. No one was running the top side as hard as he was...congrats to him!

I think that people who watch the video of this, posted by Raceway Video, will wonder what "room" Tracy might have given Levi. On the video, from two different views, it appears that it was not a good move by Jones -- a slider with little or no chance to be successful.

That was my thought - what was Levi thinking? And what do you think he told Tony about this?

And in Robert Mayson's write up posted on www.scrafan.com, Jesse comments on his slider of Cardey...http://www.hoseheadforums.com/forum~ThreadID~23370.htm

It seems that "crushing" someone with your RR is becoming a more acceptable form of racing.

If they went back to a more narrow RR, I bet the racing would be better and you may not see as much slide jobs going bad.

Seemed like a lot equipment got tore up due to ill advised slide jobs in this race. Lucky no one got hurt.

I FEEL YOU! I've been to the Oval Nationals three times and loved every minute of it. This year, I was sitting at home, watching the World of "Followers", er Outlaws, and it halfway pissed me off that I had to watch that when the Ovals were going on at the same time.

Does anyone on here actually watch Speed Channel more than a few minutes a week? I think that channel sucks, actually, and I love racing.:headbang

The problem with Speed Channel is that they don't show a lot of racing. There are a lot of after market sales pitches disguised as "how to" shows; Pinks (whatever the hell that show is), NASCAR Confidential, reality shows about wrecker drivers (you would think that they would at least do one about push trucks); but very little racing. If there was ever a channel ready for a revival of "Thunder". Just where is Ligner these days, anyway?

Re: Hockett wins from 17th

i hope the hell USAC or some Indiana track gets air time with a few live shows next year. i see the winged ascs sprints are on VS next year. What is USAC doing to get some air time next year? i have been to numerous wing shows over the years and i'm sorry but they just don't race like sprint cars. they are fast but battles are rare on the big tracks they run. i would like to less wide tires on all sprint car series. they have engine rules why not shrink the tires? the winged shows may even get better.....
