Flo TV

Signed up for Flo TV this evening and watched the USAC Midget race from Florida. It worked flawlessly!!! Sean and Georgia were both great! Super racing and great coverage. Looking forward to Saturday's race. By the way, when it was over, I stayed on Flo and watched hockey! It is going to be well worth the $150.00.

I think USAC chose wisely with flosports. The announcing and quality of picture was excellent. I only wish they would put the running order and lap count on the screen. Great job

Agree. Perhaps they will in the future.

Nate 2/9/19 1:29 AM

I’m sure Buck will straighten out the kinks and have added improvements as the season progresses.

That said, this is one of the best bargains out there. 80 USAC sanctioned races along with any other race they may have. On top of that you get all the other sports they cover. Definitely feel like I’ll be getting my money’s worth.

Stephen Cording 2/9/19 7:48 AM

Streamed perfect over the pond here in England. Not a single buffer or dropped frame.

Sean is a class act on commentary, in an age when it's the norm to have a three way or at the very least a double act it was refreshing not to hear 'and back to you Sean.

Fresh and professional all round.
I have no fear that things will only get better as the team gel.

What better way to stay up till past 4am.

Looking forward to tonight & into the early hours viewing.

So big thanks to the USAC Floracing team.

Re: Flo TV

I agree with all who have praised this. My experience was also great. Not as good as being there, but the next best thing. I can't wait until I am there next week for the Sprints.

Nascardan 2/9/19 11:19 AM

If you miss a live race can it be watched later?

Charles Nungester 2/9/19 12:46 PM

Re: Flo TV

Loved the program, Buck and Georgia. Less than two bucks a race $$ wise with all the other races and sports to watch. Hell, it's less than many peoples monthly cable bill.

Like others, To have a running order or tmes connected to Race Monitor or USAC app on the sreen would be nice.

The only improvement I'd like to see is for the main cam to catch the leader and go back to the cars racing for position. Last lap of last nights race apparently had three cars swap second place and we didn't see it..

Not a complaint, A suggestion.
Great work Buck, USAC and Floracing.

What interweb speed necessary?

I scoured the website in search of the answer to the question you pose. All the website says is high speed broadband. They say that dial up is susceptible to buffering.

We're out in the boonies and other than satellite internet service (which has proven to be problematic at the very least) the best speed we can get is around 15 meg download. At that speed our stream worked flawlessly other than just once during the A-main it locked up, I reloaded and it worked perfectly from there till the end. Luckily the lockup came during a yellow flag segment and we didn't miss a thing.

My only complaint is that we stream through an iPad and hook to the TV with an HDMI cable and we can't get a full screen picture on the TV. There is a 6" black strip on the top and bottom of the screen and maybe a 2" strip on both sides. Speedshift and Lucas Oil Racing TV completely fill out the TV screen when streaming through the iPad. I've contacted FLORacing about this to see if there is a remedy but as of yet haven't gotten a response.

Change your picture size on your remote

Yep, we did. We tried every ratio and stretch mode available on the remote and the best we could do was the 6" of black on the top and bottom and a couple inches on the sides. in the 16:9 ratio the actual picture was about half the size of the TV screen. When I was able to get most of the TV screen filled out with video picture we lost a minor degree of clarity. It was not horrible but just enough as to be noticeable. I was switching over to Lucas Oil TV periodically to watch the LOLMS at East Bay and the picture filled the TV screen completely and was noticeably clearer that the FLORACING stream. I E-mailed FLO customer service last night during the broadcast about the picture size and clarity. It's 1:45 PM CST Saturday afternoon and have yet to get a response from FLO.

The only other glitch we experienced was that the beginning of the broadcast times were bogus and they kept pushing them back. Sure wish they'd pick a starting time and stick with it.

Became a subscriber today for tonight’s show. Have had a couple times we’ve needed to hit reload, but nothing unbearable at this point. Seems to be during downtime.

Just got booted and had to relogin which was kind of annoying.

Edit: not working at all now.....

Mine has video not found thru roku. Worked great all night last night and up to sunshine’s fast time interview then out and can’t get it back

Mine has been a mess so far tonight, also. Right now, it says the event has completed. It was great last night. On nights like this, they'll have to have responsive customer service or they're going to alienate customers. That's the good thing about Speedshift, they were quick to respond when you had a problem.

Update: I had to log out and back in twice and it's back up for me, now.

Jerry

ryan84 2/9/19 8:36 PM

Mines out too, wish they had ETA on returning

tirespinner 2/9/19 8:37 PM

I am having the same problem on my ROKU. OK on my laptop.

Re: Flo TV

Had to reload several times. Then it said event completed and logged me out. I logged back in and took me awhile to find where the actual stream was in the menu. But working good now. They even had a position counter and times second half of qualifying.

Hope were done with the probs.

Jerry Shaw 2/9/19 8:44 PM

Re: Flo TV

See my update. I logged out and back in twice and mine came back. They're racing winged heats, right now.

E.P. 2/9/19 9:54 PM

I am experiencing all of the above. I’ve logged out/in/out/in, unplugged the AppleTV4 and all I get it “Sorry content unavailable. Please check back later.”

Of a sorts yes but dropping frames & pixelating. Tried logging in / out. Resetting internet modem all to no avail.
Looks like the gremlins have won tonight.

Re: Flo TV

I have been having the same issues tonight with the jerky motion. Much different than the first night. My Apple ITV hasn't worked either night. I hope they get that fixed soon. The production work is definitely not as good. Hopefully they can work that out as the season goes on. Was exited the first night but this isn't worth the money.

I've been fine since before the heats. Just the voice and the lip moving are of on the interviews.
Live coverage though been working fine streaming thru puter hdmi to TV.

Same here, I gave up on the ROKU and did the computer, HDMI cable thing. The out of sync voice and lip reminds me of a Japanese monster movie!:D:D

Re: Flo TV

I did the live chat support thing and complained about the picture not filling out the TV screen and was told to download the FLOSPORTS app onto the iPad. Did that and I got nothing on there. I ended up going through the website again tonight and it was quite jerky. Not good quality video at all.

Really hope they can get their act together. Another night like tonight and we'll be cancelling the subscription.

Oh well, did get the Midget feature and interviews though.

I agree with you Charles. I re-booted and just got a blank screen when I went to FloSports.

No issues what so ever here in Kansas City. Even had it running on both the laptop and tablet at the same time when I had to go in the other room for a while

Charles Nungester 2/10/19 11:51 AM

Re: Flo TV

Well I don't plan to rehash every issue I have wit Flo on IOW. Friday went pretty well I thought, Last night had several issues but I got to see what I paid for with a little effort.

Buck had a running order and even four or five cams going in the feature, So that's a big plus.
Going to be tough to match Speedshift, But they've been out of the box for a few years now. Im sure with a little tweeks, it will be as good. Surely the cost to follow USAC has dropped by a ton getting the whole year for what you used to pay for just these first two weeks.

Keep up the good work and effort Buck, USAC, Floracing, We'll be tuning in whenever we can't make it in person.

NOSTINKINWINGS 2/10/19 12:02 PM

Watched in person. Seems to me the first thing they need to do is get Buck out of the van in the mezzanine and up in the announcer's booth. He was announcing off what he was seeing on the screens from the cameras.
