A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
New to streaming. When you buy this week long package for the Chili Bowl can you...
1. stream to your DVR for later viewing? or is the TV just a monitor? (watching live all week will be difficult with work) 2. Does the Racin Boys site archive for later/next day on demand viewing for PPV customers? 3. Would folks recommend all week PPV or are certain individual nights more bang for $? 4. How do you rate the streaming service quality...1 star to 5 stars I do not want to get all pissed off and throw money down the drain because I don't know what I am doing.:15: Thanks for your input! |
Re: A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
I'll try to answer as best I can.
1. No way to stream to your DVR, it's live. To be able to watch it on your TV, you would need to either stream it on a laptop and hook your laptop up to your TV through an HDMI cable, or use something like a chromecast to do that wirelessly. 2. Yes, they do archive. But, you may need to be a premium member to watch archives, I'm not sure. 3. It is cheaper to buy all 6 days ($145) than individually ($30 a day). You basically get a day and some change for free. 4. I've bought the stream the last 4 years, I think. I would rate it a 4. There are inevitably going to be a few hiccups with roughly 44 hours of live racing being streamed (you may have to refresh the page a few times throughout the week if the stream freezes.) They have multiple camera shots, slow motion replays, interviews, live announcers. Back to back prices increases are a little hard to swallow, but I understand this year's with the added night. I will continue to purchase, however. |
Just be aware you don’t get B Mains or the A Main on Saturday on Racin Boys.

Re: A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
I believe you don't get the C Mains either. They are all on MAVTV Saturday night.
|
Re: A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
I don't have MavTV. Just paid a 100 for a year of LucasOilRacingTV. I believe they have the same broadcast as MAVTV.
I'm getting all stoked for Chili Bowl watching the past ones and putting in my Pool picks but if I ignore my wife for six nights in a row I'll be in the doghouse. :3: |

Re: A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
I have watched the last 3 years all days for around $100. This year I think they want 144 for 6 days. It's a lot of racing and a good feed. You hate to miss any of it. You see a good 5 to 6 hours a night. Sat is really pretty good. They start early in the day and run all day up to the live tv.

Anyone who wants to watch Saturday on MavTV, nkt.tv has a very cheap way to do it

Re: A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
Check max tv 15 a month for mav tv plus more.
|
I have had the ppv every year. It is very good. There might be a hiccup one night but most nights you can just start it and it is good. Not cheap but it is a ton of racing and is really good.
|
I'd give it a 5. They work very hard and its long days. Well worth the money. Find something to do during track prep and you will enjoy the whole week.

Re: A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
There is also this option, download the FuboTv app or go online and create an account and select the base channel package and select the outdoors package to add to your package,(MAVTV is included in the Outdoors package). You get a 7 day free trial before they charge you for a full month, So watch the ChiliBowl on MAVTV and then after its over, just cancel your free trial before they charge you and your good to go.

I'd give it a 2 for tonight. Lots of buffering and cutting out. Missed C main 2 and qualifier 1. So far
Dropping to a 1.5. The heats were fine. Since then it's been lousy. B mains and A buffered twice. So other than the Qualifiers, I enjoyed the broadcast. Bought the package deal. Will give it another go tonight. Sure wish work hadn't got in the way of a Tulsa trip. |
It's been perfect for us tonight.
|
Had no issues tonight. Top notch coverage.

Re: A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
Up until the b's it was a 10, then it started having issues and went to sh@t!
|
Has anybody used their phone to stream the racing boys broadcast? I wouldn’t think it would have any issues, but I think I’m buying tonight’s race with my only means of viewing being my phone. So, any reason I shouldn’t buy if I’m using my phone?

Re: A Few Racin Boys Chili Bowl streaming questions
I've watched on my phone and computer both nights without issue. I just wish Racin' Boys would allow you to broadcast the stream to a Google Chromecast or similar. In 2019, it is kind of ludicrous to have to hook up the computer to the TV in order to watch the coverage.

I watched last night, and had a few problems. But here's what I learned/had to do.
The PPV plays best on Chrome of the options I had available. Edge and the Samsung internet app was a failure. Didn't have Foxfire to try. While Chrome did best I had low quality resolution during the heats and ran into some bad buffering at heat 9. I have 24mbps internet; that usually streams everything well, but not RacinBoys. So what my final resolution was, was to hot spot off of my cell phone onto my laptop that was connected to my TV and the streaming was MUCH improved video quality in terms of resolution and play through. I did have one bad stretch of buffering later in the night before the A using hot spot.. So buyer beware, that there are issues; but they are not necessarily RacinBoys issues. Something either about the building or the RacinBoys stream does seem to make folks more prone to issues streaming than other folks; but there are people that aren't having issues and it seems to come down to internet connection and browsers; as I could tell differences with each change I was making. And now that I'm thinking about it, it was RacinBoys Chili Bowl coverage 2 years ago on Saturday that I had to hotspot from my cell phone in order to get smooth streaming. |
Stream to my iPhone then have it hdmi to my tv. Works great
