Bc39!!
IMS and USAC knocked it out of the park! Great event tonight, can only imagine it will be even better tomorrow!
|
Re: Bc39!!
Going on Thur. to IMS. Watched on speedshift Weds. track looked really well prepared. Great racing all over the track high ,low, or in the middle. Plenty of passing. 4 wide all night. Can't wait to see in person.:6::8:
|
If they fix the slick spot in the middle of 1-2 it’s going to be bedlam type racing! The heats were great with wonderful back and forth racing!
|
Re: Bc39!!
It took them awhile to get up to the top of the track but when they did it got pretty good. There were alot of yellows but frankly some of those guys were out of their league. Track was great. Good job Reese.

Re: Bc39!!
Ditto all the above comments. You all need to get there tonight.
|
I listened to the race on the USAC app and I heard the announcer ask the crowd to sit down because people couldn’t see the track. Was he referring to the spectators in the infield grandstand or in the third turn?
It sounded like the racing was great. How was the overall fan experience; parking, concessions etc.? |

The grandstand is really nice and pitched well. But there is always a few that disrespect those behind them. parking no problem shuttles if you want. concessions good little pricey maybe overall very well done. |

In 1957 if you said the word "Jumbotron" people thought you were talking about a ride at Disneyland... Once you were there you understood why the non-VIP parking was in the North 40; the pits actually wrapped around over to turns 3-4, so the physical space left over wasn't big enough to accommodate very many cars at all and there were cars parked there, assuming staff, concessionaires, etc (maybe pit parking too). The missus dropped me off at 25th street and I got picked up by a couple of Yellowshirts before I got very far at all, and was deposited right inside the concession area; I saw people being ferried in carts all night long, as well as the shuttles. As is the norm for a Speedway event, very well organized; hope the weather holds off for tonight. |
Pouring right now...
Update @ 5:00. 5:55 Rain... |

Re: Bc39!!
Planning to have cars on track at 8pm
|
Mudpacking currently
|
Hot laps on let’s go racing
|
Qualifiers Straight to A-Main
|
How many from each qualifier races?any idea how they will get it all narrowed down with shortened time frame?
|
Passing points.
|
So they'll just tally everyone's points ,then just take the top so many to fill the feature grid?

Thanks so much to IMS for putting on this spectacular event. The weather forced their hand & with a curfew, they did what they had to do & gave us one hellofa race.

Re: Bc39!!
As I write this after getting 2 hours sleep. I am headed for work. I am hoping to go to Gas City tonight. Yes. I will be tired , and a little grouchy. I thought this was a great event. Things didn't work out perfect, but it rained. Adjustments had to be made. Track was neat. Things were set up well for the fans. Great job by all involved. Congrats to Brady Bacon. It was avery good race.

Last night was something the most all local short track fans have been asking for for as long as I can remember. This event had been discussed and mulled over too many times to count. Like everything the Indianapolis Motor Speedway does, the facility was second to none and the Track was the perfect size and shape! When this race was announced I was super excited! They busted their ass to get the show in last night after it POURED DOWN RAIN for a little over an hour! Walking in when they said they were going to start running I was very skeptical, but they made quick work of packing the track in and getting the show on the road!
Thank you to the O’Connors for building a great track! Thank you to Doug Boles who facilitated bringing this event to life! Thank you to USAC for running what ended up being a very efficient program! And thanks to all the fans who turned out to show everyone that this is something that would thrive as a viable special event racetrack going forward. After seeing the facility, I’m convinced it’s not going anywhere, and now it’s up to all of us to keep the pressure on them to make sure that last night wasn’t the only time we see dirt racing at IMS! |

...a LITTLE grouchy?
u meant to say ALOT grouchy. |
Re: Bc39!!
Caught the PPV thought racing was as good as you could expect without the top coming in and from highlights of Weds seems the track's a hit. I know a ton of people worked very hard to get this done and done right and a big thank you.
Don't know if you ad the same announcers live as the PPV was but that's my only complaint "The Great one hall of famer is a good color man and it usually works well with Chet and others but this combo didn't work. THere was no clear play by play guy. just a bunch of chatter |
Re: Bc39!!
Oh and I could also see a HUT Hundred there.

Re: Bc39!!
Last night was, as they say in Oz & New Zealand, "Ipic" (spelling intentional). Hats off to Reese, Levi, Doug and everyone who worked their tails off to get the show in. Shame they couldn't fit in the alphabets but they did what they could do to make sure everyone at least got one race in. Classiest moments of the night; Doug Boles running to every car on the track to shake each driver's hands before they pushed off for the main, and showing some respect for the neighbors by not shooting off the fireworks at 1 AM (Doug: "Give everyone you see in Speedway and the surrounding neighborhoods a hug tomorrow morning; we put them through a lot to get this show in").
Three wide off the corners for the lead for several laps (not counting traffic), everyone on the track absolutely hammer down, and what? One yellow? Given the conditions (heck, even NOT given the conditions), it couldn't have been better. What a show. |
IMS would be wise to spend some time over the winter making everything more permanent. The track is fantastic for midgets. Could even run a special event or two in May around the 500 Festivities. You know a track is dedicated when they bring out two big blowers towed by UTV's to help dry the track with all the other heavy equipment. Outstanding effort to fight off two rounds of mother nature.
Despite having to cut out the rest of the mains, it was still a great show. For the record, even if they could of kept running well past the time they did, it started raining again about 35 minutes after the checkered flag. My only gripe is how tight the temp stands were. I'm not a big guy, but even I couldn't squeeze in very well and was trying not to have my knees in the row in front of me. Thanks to everyone involved to make this event happen! Let's hope for more in 2019! |
