The Best Fall Open Wheel Races

OK IOW faithful, what are some of the best don't miss fall open wheel races. Most tracks have a final special show to close out their season, what are some of the best out there?

Two in my area that come to mind are:
1) Port Royal Speedway's Tuscarora 50. The 51st running is this coming weekend, pays 51k to win!
2) Williams Grove National Open. The 56th running is up at the end of September and pays 56k to win.

Re: The Best Fall Open Wheel Races

Don't believe it's their last of the season, but the Haubstadt Hustler MSCS/USAC, $10,000 to win is a good one.

ryan84 9/4/18 9:56 AM

Haubstadt Harvest Cup MSCS vs WAR will be awesome in October

Jerry Shaw 9/4/18 10:26 AM

In addition to those 2 races, there are also 2 more events left at the Terre Haute Action Track. The 2nd week of September, is the Hurtubise Classic and about a month later is a 2 day show, featuring USAC on the first day and the WoO on the second.

Hope weather cooperates and the Smackdown doesn't become a fall race.

I went to that 2 years ago & it was GREAT!
Took the St. Genevieve Ferry across the Mighty Mississippi from Farmington (?) Missouri instead of driving up to St. Louis & back down... that was cool too. I was the only car. It was like something out of Huck Finn: "Flash your lights if ferry is on the other side" ;)

I know it's winged but that All*Star Sprint show at Kokomo is going to be legit I have a feeling.

Any remaining race at Kokomo. Plan on attending Harvest cup. Then next night the Last call race at Eldora (Sunday). Kind of off subject but one of the things I miss is the NAMARS Midget shows.

Our racing family's will be flying to Arizona for the west coast trip. Going to get a van and taking a road trip through the desert and visit some sites and heading to Perris for the nationals. Been on our bucket list for a long time and it's going to happen this year. Have fun and enjoy all the great racing events . Thanks to all the employees and promoters and racing teams that makes this happen for us racing fans. Simply the best. Thanks.

Yea, I went to a NSL (?) race in Farmington Missouri that Friday. It was underwhelming! Unfortunately, I'm around 1,000 miles away now... at my 95 yr. old Mom's in Connecticut. I was on my way back to Colorado that year & planned the drive to hit those races. I'm gonna try moving in with Mom this year, she needs help, is stubborn & doesn't want to go to an "old folks home" .... could be a challenge. My next races will be winged racing in Pennsyltucky, probably won't see any wingless until next spring
But thanks for the advice!

Here's one I almost forgot about.

Oswego Speedway’s Budweiser International Classic 200 for Super Mods. They just ran their 64th running last weekend.

The Star Supermodified classic should be this weekend at Star Speedway in Epping New Hampshire. Supers for 200 laps on a 1/4 mile track. I've been a bunch of times in years past.

Is that on pavement? what kind of car counts do they usually get?

Back in 2009, this was a two-race weekend with each night paying $10,000 to win. I wish it would have been successful enough to continue as a two-race weekend versus a single show.

ISMA ran at Oswego last weekend and started 21 cars there. They've been getting high teens to low 20's this year for their races.

I think the last time I went to watch Supermodifieds was the Oswego Classic the year they closed Silver Springs. Think I went to the Grove, then Silver Springs one last time, then Oswego, and topped the weekend off at Utica-Rome for Empire Super Sprints.

Last time for ISMA was the Star Classic. Always meant to go to Sandusky, but haven’t made it there yet.

That's one heck of a race weekend! I really miss Silver Springs. I think the reason I like Paragon so much is that the vibe there reminds me of the Spring.
