question about chili bowl
Does any know if the price of admission get you in to the pits or do you have to buy a pit pass? Can you even get in the pits? first time for the chili bowl for me

Re: question about chili bowl
During the day you can wonder around the pits at no cost,at a certain time they kick everyone out of the pits and you can only re enter the pits if you have a pit pass.

Re: question about chili bowl
I'm bumping this up to the top, hoping someone might know. Last year, if you had seat, you could pay an additional price ($10 per night I think) for pit passes. Are they offering that agin this year?

Re: question about chili bowl
I'm sure they will, it's an easy money maker, and they've done that for many years now.

Re: question about chili bowl
You can buy a pit pass when you get there. Either a week pass or per night. I'm thinking it was $140 last year for 4 nights.

Re: question about chili bowl
I believe the straight pit pass, with no reserved seat, will be around $210 this year. If you have reserved tickets you could get a pit pass for all 5 days last year for an additional $75 although I expect that to be higher this year.

Re: question about chili bowl
wow $210 just for pit pass? No wonder I couldn't find that price anywhere on their website :)

Re: question about chili bowl
The pit pass prices are listed on the attached flyer.....
http://www.chilibowl.com/2009midgetflyer1.pdf A multi-day pass will set you back $210; if pit passes are purchased daily, then you'll spend $240. And you MUST purchase your fuel at the Expo Center, according to the flyer....or face a DQ.... Pre-entry $150 until 12/15/08; $200 after that date....So while Lanny and Emmitt spend a few bucks to promote the event, it's pretty clear that the event is a moneymaker for them. Do a little math, estimate 200 entries, 6000 seats sold at an average of $200 for four/five nights. 2000 pit passes at $210...And the Chili Bowl press release says that 10,000 fans attend the final, so I'm guessing that most folks buy four or five night sating to guarantee their seat for Saturday I get $1.655 million at the gate before any purse is paid, using ny 6000 attendee estimate. But its probably more since the Bowl uses 10000 attendees in their PR. Now, It takes a ton of work to get the Expo Center ready for the Chili Bowl and the Shoutout the weekend before the Bowl. But as Don Moore has pointed out in the past, it seems to me that the purse does not come close to what it should be for the competitors... But you cannot even find the posted purse on their website! |
Re: question about chili bowl
i heard the shoot out pay's the bill's the rest is preety much profit;dont forget i think last year the tuesday night ticket to get in was cash only!

Re: question about chili bowl
$210 is a lot of money. If you look at it (from having a ticket and buying a PP on top of the ticket), a pit pass is only $10-15 more a day if you have ticket. You pretty much pay at least $10 more for a pit pass no matter where you go. Now whether the tickets themselves are over priced, that's a different arguement.
I have also heard the Shootout pays all the bills and the Bowl is all profit. |

[QUOTE=Kirk Spridgeon;74341]That was cash only because some sort of power outage put the card machines out of commission.
