I hope they get their dust problem settled (pun intended). The ISW race was probably not too bad, but it was difficult to see the cars.

That was my first race since the great Eldora dust out that I heard the cars but couldn"t see them :7:

We are aware of the dust at the Terre Haute action Track and are working very hard to correct it. We have and are trying many different techniques, some of which are working and some are not. We just want to assure everyone we are and will continue to try very hard, including more equipment, more water, ripping the track up, new dirt and even more effort.

I bounced back and forth between Turn 4 and Turn 1 and the difference was night and day! The covered stands still had a great view.

Lets See, Dirt, Heat, Race Cars, Equal Dust Now And Then, But As D.O.Laycock Says Wooo Racin !! Get Off The Couch And Catch It Before Its Gone !

Good to hear they are addressing the problem. There is better dirt beneath what was brought in a while back and thats not the current promoters fault. I feel bad for them actually that they have to deal with it. I have many home videos from '94-'98 that show little to no dust. Plenty of day races before then that weren't bad either. It was a heavier dirt that produced a bigger cushion but that's the trade off I guess. Bottom line is if they are doing things to help then I will continue to support the track. It is my favorite track and can provide the most exciting racing I've seen.

Hello race fans, the time has come to post THE FINAL sprint car race for Jon Stanbrough.... it's a bittersweet moment of course but after almost 39 years of racing it's time to enjoy other parts of life. This race is planned to be Sunday Aug 12th at his favorite famed Terre Haute Action Track!!! He wants to end a tremendous career at one of his winningest tracks that holds a special place to him!!! We are hoping and praying that the weather will cooperate and that the night will go smoothly for Jon and the Wingo 77!!! If you want to watch this great legend one last time this is your chance!! We love all your support over the years and look forward to seeing you all one last time! If the race gets canceled for any reason we will inform you of other plans for his final race. He would love for it to be Terre Haute! Thank you all.

Another reason it's a must see race,dust or no dust....

I have never been to a race at Terre Haute where it wasn’t a dust bowl and I continually go back 🏁.

MSCS Sprint Cars Heading For Terre Haute Action Track Sunday
Scott’s Custom Colors Modifieds Will Also Race

Terre Haute, IN - August 8, 2018 - The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will return to action this weekend. Saturday, August 11th, the non-wing 410 sprint series will race at the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN. Then Sunday, the action moves up Highway 41 to the Terre Haute Action Track, in Terre Haute, IN. These two facilities have continued to challenge drivers for decades while providing the added thrills and excitement that fans expect.

MSCS will be appearing at the half mile Terre Haute Action Track in a Mountain Dew FAMILY DAY event on Sunday, August 12. That feature event will pay $3,000 to win. Drivers will have back to back opportunities that weekend to wheel to a victory, with the $5,000 to win event the night before at Tri-State Speedway. The series has been idle since July 14th, so this should be a welcome opportunity.

Carson Short, Brandon Mattox, and Donny Brackett are currently one-two-three in MSCS Season Points. Just 44 points separate these three at the top of the standings for the 43 licensed drivers. Kevin Thomas Jr. and Carson Short have both collected a pair of MSCS feature wins this season. These two pilots have been the most successful in finding the checkers first. The other six features had different drivers win.

MSCS has not raced at Terre Haute since 2015. Scheduled races since then met with interference by the weather bug. Some drivers, who are now racing with MSCS, will be having that first opportunity to race around the fabled half mile oval.

The other nine MSCS drivers who currently hold key top twelve positions in points include Kent Schmidt, Aric Gentry, Garrett Aiken, Robert Ballou, Stephen Schnapf, Kyle Cummins, Collin Ambrose, Kevin Thomas Jr., and Doc Wallace. Rookie Eric Perrott has climbed to thirteenth in points.

At Terre Haute the Scott’s Custom Colors DIRTcar Modifieds will be competing to complete the race card. NASCAR’s Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace are both scheduled to attend along with a barrage of other Modified stars who put on great shows at the Action Track.

Pit gates open Sunday at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, hotlaps start at 6:00, with racing at 7:00. Grandstand admission is $20, infield admission $15, and children 11 and under are free.

Chris Windom's going to be hard to beat, tonight. He was very close to breaking the 20 second barrier in group qualifying and just drove off with ease, once he grabbed the lead in the third heat. The he track is well watered and very fast!

Hats off to the track crew. I arrived early, around 3:30, and they poured a ton of water on the track and continued to work the track during the evening. Showed that they can have a good track with virtually no dust if they work at it. Again nice job everyone at Terre Haute. Agree with Al, it was a home run!!!
