Plus 1, we put ours down with Jim's. Front gate open, guessing the back it too, but don't know for sure.

So I have my $30 ticket stub from rained out Outlaws race earlier in the year at Haubstadt so I should be able to exchange for $30 pit pass today? Or is it just ticket for ticket and I just lose out on $5 bucks. Im fine either way just might as well tour the pits if it won't cost me extra. Thanks for any info.

Not sure, but let us know how it works out for ya.

IndianaSprintFan 7/28/18 2:17 PM

Anyone know if Clayton will be in the 5 tonight?

A friend told me yes,but not confirmed yet......I sure hope so!....I didn't go,so I don't know. ;)

KingRandomUser 7/28/18 6:54 PM

He is here, heard it over the PA a couple hours ago some of the drivers here. 42 Sprints signed in.

IndianaSprintFan 7/28/18 10:44 PM

Park the damn water truck. This track was perfect!!!

SoIllSprinter 7/28/18 10:48 PM

It will now be even better. Tommy knows track prep.

IndianaSprintFan 7/28/18 10:58 PM

I don’t agree. It will take half the race for the track to come back in

Just to let you know they took good care of me and an even exchange for the pit pass. Haubstadt once again proves to be the class track! Thanks!

That feature was as fast and as boring as a wing race. And if you think I’m wrong you are in denial. They need to keep the water truck parked during “intermission”

dalemo 7/28/18 11:55 PM

Who won?

Dave Darland is your winner

I didn't think much of the feature for two thirds of it, But of course on TV you don't see everything. Then DD put it on both Stockon and Windom, which I thought was awesome.

Woohoo Dave!

Funny Stuff! Perhaps you may want to put on a track prep seminar for the Helfrichs to show exactly how to prep a track that had not seen rain in two weeks?
Or better yet, maybe you are buying Paragon or Daugherty Speedways so you can exhibit your expertise to all.

Sounds very jelly to me. LOL
Sigh....

Fantastic feature!

Congrats DD on feature win and Windom for your 18 ISW Championship!

Kudos to TSS for awesome track surface once again. Never disappoints.

Nice to meet you Mrs.G.

And Netherlands Jerome, have safe travels back home. Enjoyed our chats the past few days!

I have attended races at Tri-State Speedway for over forty years. I have disagreed philosophically with the driver of that water truck over racing policy several times over the years. I have even had a nasty phone call or two back in the day with the driver of that water truck. However, after attending races all over the country and specifically in the Great State of Indiana, I have grown to admire the driver of that water truck and the racing surface he provides us with every night the facility is open. If you were disappointed with a race that had a winner that didn’t lead all 30 laps, I’m really sorry, but if you really want to blame the racing surface, you might possibly be the one in denial. We have had many winners from the front in Indiana Sprint Racing this year. Perhaps we should be looking at the removal of cockpit adjustable shocks as the root cause, not the best prepared racing surface in the entire State of Indiana.

Were you at Bloomington? All that race lacked was wings. Boring. Went to Habstadt for first time since about 1995, great racing all night. Love seeing Darland still schooling the kids

sw1911 7/29/18 1:26 AM

Sometimes I walk away from this track thinking I just saw my best race. Sometimes I don’t. This wasn’t the best race. But it worth the price to see DD make that pass for the lead. It was a massive statement.

I am not saying it’s wasnt a great racing surface. It just would have been better with no water before the feature. The feature wasn’t anywhere near as good as the heat races. Yes there was a pass for the lead but honestly that was about it. Bacon passes several and Leary, Schnaph (sp) passed a few but I think we could have had it better. I just wish they worked the track when it was needed not when their schedule told them to.

Congrats to DD, great race. Enjoy your next few days fishing!

Re: Tri State

Dave Darland still the master in a competitive car. Last night was about the best surface I had ever seen at Haubstadt. They didn't need to re-water but it gives opportunity for those that need more refreshments to stock up.

Re: Tri State

I"m not sure I understand about that race being boring. I guess A guy leading with second place on his bumper trying high then at next corner looking low is boring I don"t know what to say cuz I saw passing all though out the field.Plus someone thinks Tommy over watered the track, maybe they can buy one of the tracks for sale and start a prep school on prepping a dirt track I"m sure all the promoters will learn a bunch . I don"t seem to remember any dust flying around the whole night don"t think I can say that about any other track in the series :8:

Re: Tri State

not one mention of Critter Malone winning the c, topping to avoid a spinning car in the B, starting last in the B and going for the last transfer spot on the last lap last corner but getting together with another car? if you didn't enjoy watching Critter pass a **** ton of cars last night you might want to go watch olympic curling or something

mc/rider 7/29/18 2:06 PM

When DD took the lead on lap 25 the roar of the fans could be heard in Indy

I always enjoy watching Critter Malone!!! He is always on the throttle at Tri-State!

Re: Tri State

I totally get the "Total Rework before feature" thing. I think Tri State comes around a lot faster but I used to hate it when Gas City did it right before the feature. It was a freight train of qualifying with everyone waiting for someone to mess up to get a pass for 22 laps followed by 8 laps of racing., Many things can cause that one groove thing.

Tri State is it's own animal and unique. Most tracks change significantly over the course of a program, They put it back to new a couple times a night.

That being said, I seen a good race, I believe DD when he said he seen Clouser having success up there getting unlapped that he had to try it. Until then it seems they were all in the same line looking to duck under.

openwheelfan1 7/29/18 4:28 PM

Here is an interesting thing that happened in qualifying last night at Tri-State. Kevin Thomas Jr. went out 41st (out of 42 cars) and was fast qualifier. Chad Boespflug went out 14th and got second quick time. Chase Stockton went out 3rd and was 3rd quick. Justin Grant went out 30th and was 4th quick. My point? While it is not unheard of for a car late in the qualifying order to set quick time, it usually means the track is slimy, and the early qualifiers are handicapped. If the early qualifiers do well, it usually means those with a late number have little chance of doing well. It is pretty rare for a track to be prepared such that out of the top 4 qualifiers, one came from the first group of 10, the second group of 10, the 3rd group of 10 and the last group. About as fair and even as one could ask for.

Nate 7/29/18 4:32 PM

Honestly I thought that was the best race of the week. Thought Chase would be the one to get by Windom and Darland made a nice racing move. Those 3 along with KTJ ran a pretty clean race given the close quarters racing they were providing. The heats were great. Critter put on a show in the semis and even the modified heats (didn’t stay for the feature) were pretty damn good.

So the track wasn’t the best you’d ever seen there. So what? It happens. Putnamville certainly wasn’t this week. Kokomo hasn’t been all season in the couple races I’ve been there. Bloomington has certainly been better. But at the end of the day we love racing on dirt & just like the french fries post said, a tracks not gonna be the same every single time there’s a race there.

Re: Tri State

Tri-State re-works 2 times a night, if it needs it or not. That's what it is, and what it'll be.
