Gas City
Anybody hear an update yet on a schedule or classes?
|
Re: Gas City
talked to him at circle track exbo and he said he would like to get in about 15 races this year but no particulars yet
|
Re: Gas City
I spoke with Jerry at the expo too; he expressed interest in running some Sprint/Midget shows and was intending to talk with Harold at Montpelier, I assume to try to coordinate schedules. Again, nothing concrete, still planning. Seemed like a decent bloke...

If he paid $2k to win he’d send the non-wing world into a frenzy. I’d love to see someone buck the system. It’s not a coincidence that most tracks pay $14-$1500 to win every week.
It’s collusion. They all have an agreement. It’s a conspiracy to keep the racer poor. |

They know these people would show up for trophies just to see their stuff ripping the top and a driver doing things the owner personally would never do. Just spoke to one a few nights ago that said he didn't care what Kokomo pays he just wants to see his **** bangin the boards.

It’s not a coincidence that all Indiana non wing tracks pay almost the same purse for a weekly show.
With the exception of paragon.... |
And Paragon usually has the most cars.

Re: Gas City
Kenyon Midgets announced a show on Friday, Sept 7th.
|
Boss winged sprints August 31.
|
Ok. I’ll say it again.
It’s no coincidence that almost all tracks in Indiana pay the same purse for a weekly show. The new owner of Gas City has an opportunity to make a positive change by paying $2k to win. Then, maybe, just maybe, they will all bump their purses up. Most tracks paid $1000 to win in 1990. |
Re: Gas City
Lots of tracks out there for sale. We can all keyboard what should be.
If you want to see it happen, make it happen. Many of the tracks do not make a profit on a regular show's gate and purse. Its the tracks sponsors that keep the gates open or a stacked back gate. |
Re: Gas City
Be honest with you I am ok with $1500 to win, just get the start money up to $250 to start and a $100 for NQ.

Re: Gas City
Just sit tight and wait for the fella to post a schedule and get a website up. Wish the guy the best at keeping the track open. Can't wait to see what he's got going on at the track this season for weekly racing and special events. Guess will all just have to wait and see what he's decides to do during the 2018 season. Either way I'm happy the track is back open on a weekly basis. USAC Sprints, BOSS Sprints, & Kenyon Midgets are already on the schedule. Makes one wonder what we might see at the track this year. :32:

Add GLSS 360 winged sprints on June 8.

That's what racers want. |
The best thing we as racing fans can do, is support the track when it does open. Everyone plan on a couple trips to see some top notch racing, help keep racing alive and well. Win-Win!

Re: Gas City
I sure hope it makes it onto the Indiana Sprint Week schedule! :8::8:

Jerry Gappens said on a local radio show yesterday that the schedule is still being finalized. He will be attending the RPM Promoters workshop in Daytona next week to try to finalize the schedule and release it the following week.
He mentioned an April 20 Grand Opening and non-wing sprint cars will be the anchor class this season. He hopes to host sprint/midget/D2 doubleheaders once a month. Other support divisions he's looking at, on a rotating basis, includes UMP Modifieds, Kenyon Series Midgets, Thunder Cars, Mini-Sprints, Mod Lites, Hornets, FWD Compacts, etc. He also mentioned one non-wing and winged Sprint Car doubleheader on June 8. For getting a late start, things seem to be coming together. |
Should be another USAC sprint race in addition to Sprintweek. Their unofficial rule has been you don't get a Sprintweek date unless you have a regular season USAC race. That is what other tracks asking for Sprintweek dates are told. See if it stays consistent and we can get 2 shows there! Hope so.

Re: Gas City
Once he gets a Facebook page going it will be a bit easier for us to see what's going on and what plans are instead of just getting on this thread on IOW. :32:
