first of all i would like to say that the racing was just great at the burg this weekend, and i want to applaud the man that answered the trivia question right and ripped up the picture of j bland after he had won. also the battle of dickie gaines and brady short was awesome. it was a very well rounded race. the auction that took place was pretty good i thought but who puts a reserve bid on something for a charity auction? pretty sad. i wish kenny biro the best of luck and hope he is feeling better.

Of course he has a right to do with the picture what he wants...just thinking that there are a lot of people (adults and kids) who probably would've liked to have had that picture....just seems immature to try to win it on purpose only to rip it up. :doh:

I just heard about the Idiot today. Tim Thomas Photos spends alot of time and money printing these pictures, he also goes to the trouble to have them signed by the drivers. He does this each week for fan giveaways. This was a classless act and i am very upset about this one mans idiotic decision.
One in every crowd i guess.
To Tim Thomas: Most fans appreciate the pictures you give out, i know i do.
and thanks for all you do for racing.

Yes what this idiot did was classless..... in poor taste....... and is downright idiotic. However..... this is America..... the man has the right to do with it what he wants whether we agree with what he did.

The classy thing to do would have been to give it to a kid or a fan.

At least we live in a country where we have the right to CHOOSE what we do LEGALLY. This idiot made a BAD choice.... but he has the right to do so.

I am putting the nomex on now..... let the flaming begin!

EDIT: Yes Tim does excellent work. It is disrespectful to the driver who took the time to sign it and to the photographer. I hope this guy got what he had coming to him.

I am not defending the guy at all. I know how hard it is to get photos signed. All I am saying is that the guy can do whatever he wants with it when its his property is all.

Bland is actually one of the drivers we've been trying to get to sign some pix for my son...just haven't been able to catch up with him.

Maybe that guy is the same guy who took off with our Daron Clayton signed Hoosier Tire Flag that we bid on (and paid for) at the silent auction and never got! Oh well, the money was definitely for a good cause and the woman from Hoosier said they'd get us one so we're good with that. :thumb

I think your all being stupid! If the guy didn't want it he shouldn't have got it i think it showed poor sportsmanship on his part for ripping it up. I think you should leave Jeff Bland alone. He's a good kid just having fun racing. He's young and besides doesn't even your older drivers have their off nights as well? LAst time i checked they sure do. Give it a rest people and quit bashing the kid. And also it's not hard to get his autograph he's always willing to sign stuff for his fans. My daughter got her picture with him. Good god give this CRAP a rest!!! If that guy is that stupid then he should find a new sport to go to where he might actually like somebody or let someone rip his picture up and see if he liked it! Just DUMB in my opinion!!!

I would like to set the record straight. I am a Jeff Bland Jr, FAN!!!! as I am all interviewed drivers for the website. I feel I am catching unwarranted flack from post my last evening. I do believe that tearing up the PIC was a classless act on the "winners" part. If you didnt want the pic why answer the question in the first place? Instead of tearing up the pic why not make a kids day and give it to them?

I should have been more crystal clear with my first post.
I still believe that the "winner" had the right to do what he did. Even tho I didnt agree with it at all!!!!!

I hope that this helps clear everything up.

i was sitting in the front row when the question was asked, and being as ignorant as i am, didn't know the answer. i watched a few fans come down and be disappointed that they did not have the right answer, then "idiot boy" races down the steps and actually ran up to the announcer with the right name. i thought it was cool that a race fan got a great prize, and then was shocked when he walked by me ripping it in half, and then not only ripping it in half, but wadding it up before he slam-dunked it into a trash barrel. i'm sure his buddies were impressed with his knowledge of racing and the fact that he didn't litter. good goin race fan! bob:checkered:

TO the Bland's....

I would just like to say that ....I know you all pretty well and I have seen you give back to the fans on several occasions.. Kokomo 2 yrs ago Jeffery went to the front stretch just below the flag stand and handed out t-shirts to all of the little race fans that night. Class Act.



No matter what the fans are expressing... Yay's or Nay's at least you have the attention of each race fan present :thumb

If everyone is so mad that this guy did this then maybe someone should've answered the question right sooner. And just because a few people think it was wrong, does that mean that their opinion is more important than of those people who thought it was funny. It is a free country, and last time I checked everyone had to pay the same price to get into the race, and that gives everyone equal right to express themselves.

I am sorry you felt that it was "pretty sad" that we put a reserve on an item for charity. I am sorry we disappointed you. I believe it would have been "very sad" to have such a great item, donated by a great race driver and a great human being and have it sell for say $100 or $200 dollars when everyone knows that a lot more money can come from the item if we hold the item back and sell it elsewhere. I would have been disappointing in myself for letting it go under valued, when I know we could earn more for Kenny by selling it elsewhere. As it was, the top bidder came down and paid the reserve price because it was going to charity and because he also knew the value of a great item like that. I want to thank him for stepping up and helping the cause!
