Dave Darland updated his FB today at about 1:00 PM and noted he will NOT be racing in Kansas this week. It says he will be racing the Sprint Car this weekend.

Wallsracing 8/2/17 8:50 PM

Yes I know I saw that that's why I posted it about 10:30

I'm sorry sir, but I cannot find a post from you today that indicates Dave Darland will NOT be at Belleville. At least not here on IOW. My apologies. My post was not intended to offend.

It's a sad state of affairs when somebody with Dave Darlands resume has to ask for sponsorship help to go run Belleville. I would like to think that there is an owner somewhere that would like to put that kind of talent into their car without having to bring some money. I know its an expensive sport, but dag gone it, I hate to see DD on the sidelines.

grantman 8/3/17 11:02 AM

He is only one of many that needs a ride without money.

Nut'n but Dirt 8/3/17 11:24 AM

Costs have gone up for racing. It purses have not. Without sponsorship it is hard to keep up. There are a lot more drivers than owners who can fund a team on their own. That is the state of racing now!

This is food for thought, Dave would like to go run B but I can tell you he is just as happy running the #40 this weekend at Waynesfield and his home track of Kokomo in Honor of his Dad, I like to think he has all kind of doors open to him so he is really not in bad shape as far as a race car driver that feeds his family by strapping in. Always just my opinion.

Re: Darland

So did Darland have a choice between Belleville in Grays midget and running the #40 sprint around home and choose the #40? Don't think Dave ran Belleville last year.:22:

Re: Darland

He ran the POWRi midget show at I-55 Pevely, MO during the WoO Ironman 55 last year. They went out and ran Jefferson and Beloit but skipped Belleville for Pevely.

Best of luck to Dave wherever he races. All I can say is that he's got the BEST T-shirts! I keep telling myself to stop buying them, but the graphics nowadays are so good.... wonder if my $20... no $40, wait $60 will help???

Maybe I misread or missing something but according to USACs result threads,Dave's name isn't listed for qualifying at Beloit nor Jefferson. Not that it really matters, but sometimes bad/wrong info is worst than no info at all.

He said last year (2016)and DD was at Beloit , q 12th 5th in heat and 7th in feature he was also at Fairbury Ne

trannyman 8/3/17 9:32 PM

Maybe you should follow your own advice

trannyman 8/4/17 7:51 AM

My observation was based upon present
day conversation about this year, which is how this thread originally started.why has darland not been in the grey midget, lately.I'm sure most of us could go back and research who ran where last year, but that wasn't the man's question, which no one has yet has honestly been able to answer.as stated I may have misread, which I did,and clarified my bad.

Re: Darland

And this thread is the reason that I and a bunch of others don't post much here anymore. Some can't wait to pounce and prove you wrong. What's hilarious is the lack of reading comprehension. Don't let facts get in the way of your agenda should be the motto here.

Someone in the thread asked if Dave ran Belleville last year and I answered because I was at Beloit, Fairbury, and Pevely last year and saw him at all of them. I didn't need to search for the answer.

To answer the question of the thread the Grey midget team had a budget to race on this year and they have exceeded that budget and parked the car unless they find someone to help with expenses the rest of the year.
