Perfect decision IMHO. He can have whatever dissagreement he wants to with MSCS but point a loaded gun at someone there has to be a price.

Re: Memmer Verdict Posted on MSCS Website
I hope Mr. Memmer can use this as a learning tool for the rest of his life. He needs to gain some maturity and realize you don't swerve a sprint car at an official just because you don't agree with the lineup. I also hope that we never, ever have to see or hear about an incident like this again. His actions were absolutely inexcusable. Glad to see that the MSCS will put him on the sidelines with their organization for a while.

I think he got off pretty easy!
Had it been my decision to make, 1 full year suspension from the date of the incident, and 1 full year probation with 0 tolerance! Use your car as a threat or a weapon, you should pay a HIGH price! I am just glad they did something, and I hope he is closely scrutinized wherever he goes! |
Re: Memmer Verdict Posted on MSCS Website
In my opinion, for trying to clip an official, not enough. Since it's a family operation, the team should be suspended for the rest of the year.
I checked the records. The guy only made one feature this year and finished 13th. He's not a points contender so taking him out of a few races probably means nothing to him. Let him cool his jets for the rest of the year and let him come back next year on probation. I believe most companies would bar you from their property for life if you threatened their management. How is this any different? It's their series, they can do what they want. Two years ago, when I was coming to IN on a regular basis, I thought John had a lot of promise. At this point, I'd say he needs to do a serious self-assessment and try to get back on the right path, focus on his driving and leave the grade school theatrics behind. |
Re: Memmer Verdict Posted on MSCS Website
So he misses five MSCS events. He will run somewhere else those nights.

Re: Memmer Verdict Posted on MSCS Website
Haubstadt, IN - July 2, 2009. The Midwest Sprint Car Series has made the decision to place driver John Memmer of Evansville, IN, on immediate suspension. The suspension follows a careful review of a serious situation that happened on the track at Vermilion County Speedway on Saturday June 27th. Memmer will not be eligible to race in any MSCS sanctioned events until September 18, 2009 and will be on probationary status with MSCS for the remainder of the 2009 racing season.

Re: Memmer Verdict Posted on MSCS Website
That's what happen's when you let kid's race at a young age. they don't care about what they have.. he has the best of the best.. there not going to set out.. if I was his Dad.. someone would be driving the car that I have all that money in and he could help in the pit's or set at home... it's so hard for hard working race's that care to get sponsor's, and yet pepole like that have good one's.....
