Tucson: McCluskey Memorial

For those of you who might want to keep up with some racing out here in the desert-- the McCluskey race was run yesterday at the dirt track in Tucson. It was to have been a 2 day show but several days of rain during the week (including SNOW flurries) left the track and pits a mess, so Sat. was cancelled. 40 cars showed for Sunday. The top five were 1. Johnny Herrera 2. Jesse Hockett 3. Charles Davis Jr. 4. Nathan High 5. Chad Boat. Hockett put on a driving show, as usual, coming from a B Main. Robt. Ballou was in the Tony Smiley car, started 12th and was challenging for 2nd when he spun. Kevin Swindell was in the Jack Yeley car- but did not make the main. He was involved in 2 crashes, first in his heat before a lap was completed, then before the B main started. So, all we saw of him was waving his arms and shouting at whoever he felt caused the wrecks. Despite the rough track, pretty good racing was put on. Sorry I don't have the complete finish, but was concentrating on the racing up front.

With Kevin and Jack racing together I want a camera crew to follow them around because that might just be one reality show I would watch

If Darin Clayton is the "Modern Day Cowboy", Jesse Hockett has to be hands down, the "Modern Day Outlaw. This kid will run anytime, anywhere. Good job Jesse:respect:.

P.S...I heard Jesse might be putting a wing on the 13 car and running some early 2009 PA shows. Can anyone confirm or deny this...Thanks

P.S.S...Mowerman, you know that was politically incorrect:wink

I'm sure he'll make what he can....He'll be running for ASCS National Tour points, but with the 13 car owner based out of PA, you're sure to see the Modern Day Outlaw out there a few times this year. What the blueprint is for Hockett, last I spoke with him: Run every ASCS Nat. race....in the 13 car....also running all the BIG nonwing races (Eldora, Osky, Lakeside, etc....the fast tracks, no bullrings-but may run ISW), throw in some WoO shows including the Knox'le Nats. That won't leave much space, but if there is any....you know he'll be behind the wheel in one state or another. Good luck Jesse! Can't wait for the Chili Bowl!!

Kinda sucks for me... I don't follow the ASCS or WoO, go to Eldora-Osky-Lakeside, or The Knox Nats... Pretty much leaves the bullrings... Jesse's a blast to watch everywhere, including the bullrings. :respect:

I agree with the "MDO" nickname and wish him the best and hope to see him run in '09! :thumb
