Aussie; In this country people tend to remember 'firsts'. Most adults can probably name the first man that walked on the moon. For the life of me, I can't think of the name of the second man to do it. Most baseball fans can tell you who the first African-American was to play in the major leagues. Good luck finding someone who remembers who was second.
Whether or not you or I or anyone else thinks Danica deserves to be first is irrelevant. Historians are not going to put a footnote next to her name because of what you think. No one on here is proclaiming her as the greatest racer since....whoever, but the FACT is she won. And as we all know, in any form of racing, that's the bottom line.
By the way, your seeming obsession with this subject is one of the main reasons this thread hasn't disappeared from the first page. So go ahead and post a reply and keep her name near the top.:O:

That's what formula is - specifications. Sprints, midgets, Silver Crown, IndyCar, Nascar. They are all a spec series...Gregg Seabald

Gregg, technically you are correct. However, from my experience, a true "Spec" series has come to mean one type of chassis, one type of motor and one brand of tires. In other words, everybody runs the exact same equipment.

Yep, I hear ya. USAC on pavement is ALMOST that way - same chassis, tires, and engine - but that's not mandated - everybody runs mostly the same stuff because they don't want to be left out. I think it's too expensive to develop your own stuff.

In IndyCar it is technically a spec series - engine, chassis and tires. But if one thinks that Penske, Ganassi, and Andretti-Green have the same stuff as everybody else, you are kidding yourself. They have the money to "massage" certain components to their advantage and still be within specifications.

It takes lots of $$$$ to find and take advantage of those tiny little loopholes. Those loopholes might only be good for one mph, but that's still an advantage over somebody else. That one mph will put you two laps ahead of everybody else at the end of the Indy 500!

Not that anybody is interested but they will replay the radio broadcast
of the Indy Race in Japan tonight on XM radio channel 144 at 8:00
PM?.

They will also have the Danica's crew chief narrate of interject his exacts thoughts as the race progressed during the XM Radio Broadcast.

Danica/Andretti racing also has their radio show on XM radio preceding
the repeat radio telecast of the race tonight.

Clair B. Lang the Nascar daily talk show host interviewed a couple
of ladies last night talking about thier careers and Danica's achievements and what it means.

Erin Crocker told her story. The new young female Wallace who
will have a full ride in the Craftsmans truck next year, running
a limited series this year. They also had the other young lady
running Craftmans Trucks this year or was that the Arca Series?

They also talked about John's Forces daughter who will probably
win a Funny Car race this year?

So it's an exciting year for the women.

So it is what it is. A time to embrace the women and their achievements.

Sincerely,

Larry Otani and God Bless you!:applaud:

My response here would be to quote one of the most astute members of this board, "should be clear to anyone with a three digit IQ" that I was referring to the seeming confusion between a soul and a sole. Evidently I have encountered two of the confused , one from Ohio and one from Cali ...........

Just for the record, according to Chris Economaki in tomorrow's issue of NSSN, the Danica win has stimulated an already accelerated ticket sale boom for the Indianapolis 500. Economaki states that the possibility of a sellout exists.

I hope to avoid getting caught in any of the crossfire in this tough thread, but here goes:
I cannot understand how anyone on IOW could fail to see that Danica's win has been great for the IRL and the 500. She got more good publicity for Indy cars this week than any one other single event in ages.
