You might be old school if you were at Sun Valley Speedway the night that track owner Joe Helping sang the national anthem.:18:

Re: Old School
I'm Old School. Here we go. Minnesota State Fairgrounds 1/2 mile
when Harvey Conkel went for a ride and Ernie Johnson was there to help. The t-shirt days were awesome. ( Wish I could have seen the IMCA days. Incredible!) Turn 1 tavern at Little Springfield. The 1 ton dually's @ open trailer's. Ernie Johnson had a chance to go to Indy in 1949 but his business-family did not allow to let that happen. Johnson had many great driver's like Emory Collins & Horst meyer in his Sprint Car stable. I think of the 318 offy's. Ernie Johnson was a great driver in his racing days. Have friends that remember Johnson-Collins-Horstmeyer racing. Best Regards, John |

Re: Old School
You might be old school if you found it entertaining when a drivers wife would climb the flag stand ladder to discuss the race with the flagman.
You might be old school when you actually got to hear announcers talk about the drivers and give a little brackground. |
