Bert gave me and Brian Paulis each one to run and give feed back. I dont carry an on board battery anymore, but once you get used to having it, it's hard to due without. Adjusting the valves is a snap, just plug the battery in like a Silver Crown car and hit the button to bump your engine over. Same for checking leaks at home.....hit the button and varoom, it's running. And it's so much safer coming into the pits, you can putt around as fast as you need to.

With more and more tracks threatend with encroaching development, you can bet your bottom dollar that we're going to see more tracks slapped with curfews. It's not going to be too many more years before these tracks will no longer be able to afford the extra 15-20 minutes a night required to push off sprints and midgets.

USAC tried this years ago with the Midgets.
It worked real well on short tracks, but did not work on the larger tracks of 1/2 mile or larger. The problem was that on the bigger tracks they ran such a tall gear they could not pull their self out of the pits. They would have to be pushed off to get up to speed to where they could pull their self.

So I guessed they figured that if you are going to need a push truck anyway, why mess with starters?

Maybe just before wheel pack or ? Idea's?

There is a small grandstand behind my tower in turn 1 that could be used or down by the concession stand?

It must be easier with the V-8's as the Silver Crown cars don't seem to have any issues and I don't at Terre Haute. A couple of good points of been mentioned about curfews and such, but it also isn't easy finding quality push trucks and operators like Joe Chambers gang. Especially going into markets that dont have much tradition of running sprint cars.
The USAC Ford Focus cars run a version of the starter/clutch I have and I'll never forget the last PRI Orlando race in 2007, all 24 of those cars were waiting to take the track for their A main.......lined up 2 x 2, 12 rows, and they all left the pits together in formation. They went one lap and took the green and were finished quicker than the sprint cars could even push off and get lined up.
Traditionalist will keep push trucks in demand for some time, but I like inovators like Bert Transmissions, and I like having a choice....unlike the DT-3 tire. Save that one for the round table.

Nearer to food is usually better. Anywhere us fine, just let us know.

Silver Crown cars have a transmission, Sprints and Midgets do not.
The Focus cars to not usually run on large tracks and have a different torque curve.
Like I said on small tracks the on board starters worked great, large tracks, problems.

What time do the races start and what time should I plan to get there to get a decent seat?

Ron,

Racing starts at 7:00 PM. I would plan on being there by about 5:00 PM as both times I have been able to sit on the top row. Remember, they are on CDT same as you. Hope to see you there. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the info. Not losing an hour going to the track will help, but on the other hand I won't gain an hour going home.
