Some races stand out in memory, even after 50 years, though some details may be lost. One 60's big show at The 'Burg I remember in particular was a 50 lap trophy dash (might even have been a 100 lapper) between Dick Gaines in the blue Smith 19 and Larry "Boom Boom" Cannon in the B4. Cannon nipped Dick at the checkers and at the payoff window he was raving about what a tough SOB Gaines was. Hope to see Dickie in the 4U and running well again tomorrow evening. :22:

The weather is perfect this morning. 83° high when the gates open. I will bring a sweatshirt just in case.
Cant wait to see yet another Dick Gaines memorial. I will also be looking up long time IOW member Phil Heil, view his Maxim sprint car and make a formal introduction. |
Leaving Indy now headed that way!

We could use a RF wheel tonight if someone has one they'd like to sell. Unfortunately the one we ordered did not arrive in time. Preferably an 8" x 3".
We have a black trailer, black truck.....red body 13e car. Posted via Mobile Device |
