Does anyone else miss Larry Boos on the microphone?

I couldn't understand anything the Late Model announcer was talking about. Very hard to follow the commentary!

The interesting thing about Scotty's run was the fact that he was in a 2002 Maxim with a home-built motor that was assembled in 1996. This was the same chassis that Matt Westfall won numerous races with in 2003, including running second at Oskaloosa that same year. My brother Steve raced the car a few times in 2007 and it has been "mothballed" ever since. My dad Jim and Paul Fortney built the motor with the help of their late friend Jerry Bowser; it dynoed at a whopping 680 hp. This was the first race for the motor since freshened by Jeff Claxton.

Scotty had never even seen the car before Saturday night. Steve hot-lapped it Friday night to accomplish a "bucket-list" item:6: (Run @ Eldora). Dad and Steve and Kyle assembled the car recently. We just wanted to have some family fun with Kyle and Landon racing the "Big E" that night, also.

It would have been fun to see what Scotty could have done up front. He looked strong in his heat ...Who knows, maybe things will turn out differently at the 4-Crown ... hmmmm ...:33:

The little trailer was borrowed from Jimmy Snead. THANKS Jimmy! :8: Also, THANKS to Aaron Wright for all of his help over the weekend!

This was Kyle's first time ever at Eldora, and only Landon's second time. Good to bring home three intact race cars from Eldora!

Everyone have a blessed week!!

Would this Paul Fortney be the gentleman who had the orange 46 back in the late 60's and 70's that Jerry Poland drove?
