BARC is no doubt the smallest and most exclusive membership of the three area clubs, primarily because it is male only, open wheel only, and we like it that way!! Membership has been stable at just over 100 for a number of years. Meetings are held monthly during the winter at the home of the renowned Hoffman Auto Racing. Activities include a fish fry, Polish Luau, field trips, Indy practice tickets, track discounts and a monthly newsletter. A smokin' deal for only $20. a year!

I wish we could get 30+ cars every week but as long as the 'burg can get 21-23 cars including Ballou, DD, Hunter and a Walker Racing driver do jour nearly every week I will be quite satisfied.

OK, I haven't read every response, so maybe this has been touched on, before, but the car count is the result of the competition for entries, and that's obvious. More than a few sprints saw a desirable alternative at Terre Haute, or elsewhere (it IS Saturday night in Indiana--there are options aplenty), and aside from Belle Clair relieving the midgets of some of the entries that participated at Bloomington, certainly many potential midget competitors simply thought "On a track that fast I haven't got a prayer of making money against the USAC regulars", and did something else. I am as happy as can be that Midgetweek has been moved from direct Knoxville Nationals-scheduling competition for my viewing dollar, but it can't be expected to just pull 40 cars whenever and wherever.
But do it again next year, and I'll bring my front gate money even if I KNOW only 24 cars are coming. Especially if I'm sure that Steve Buckwalter will be one of them...

There are too many tracks running on Saturday night, which spreads out the car counts. Even Paragon is seeing a noticeable difference in their car counts - they used to get over 50 every week! Also, Lawrenceburg is not instituting their tire rule until August. Those of us who run at other tracks can't afford to buy tires that you really only can run at one track. Not economical. When you live in Indy, I can race at three different tracks within an hour, so why would would I want to go another hour and a half? Quite a few racers and race teams are located around Indy. Those in northern Indiana also have Waynesfield. Right now, everyone has to look out for their money, especially since you can't hardly get sponsors for your car, and everything is coming out of our own pockets. That's my two cents.

Not arguing your points about reasons but simply clarify something. Since when is Lburg 2.5 hours from Indy? 74-to St. Leon Rt. 1 1 hour 45 minutes at speed limit.. Total drive time both ways yeah your adding about a hour and a half over Putt, THAT and Paragon.

I know my drive to from Cincy to Indy was a lot shorter time wise than from Indy to VCS.

Didn't Paragon used to be a sunday night track? I know Haubstadt was when it was weekly.

Most at the Burg are already running the spec tires some aren't and its not always a advantage. I'll just be glad when that reason is no longer a issue.

I think your right Chuck, About everycar i have seen in the winners circle is on DT3's.
Also right on about Lawrenceburg to Indy, it only takes me a hour and a half to get there.

I've travelled 8 hrs. from PA 3 times in the last year to the burg and loved it every time.Seems like many people on this board (from IND.) are spoiled by all of the great racing you have in the midwest.I had a great time Saturday nite and saw some spectacular racing.Can't wait till Oct.3rd&4th to see it again ,keep up the great work Dave & crew.It sure beats the follow the leader ******** here in PA.:27::9::9::6:

Back to car counts: Below are average sprint car counts per regular show, not including KISS, USAC, MSCS, etc...
FRIDAY
Bloomington is averaging 39.25 sprints per regular show (This does not include the Spring Clash special)
Gas City is averaging 26.5 sprints per regular show
Total is 65.75 sprints

SATURDAY
Lawrenceburg is averaging 23 sprints per regular show
Putnamville is averaging 20.4 sprints per regular show
Paragon is averaging 32.8 sprints per regular show
Total is 76.2 sprints

Note that VCS is missing as their results page merely notes feature finishing order and not total car count, but one can assume that they average in the upper 20's to lower 30's...

Just some food for thought.
