I thought I was hearing things. He actually compared himself to the guy who stood in front of the tank, in Tiananmen Square. Few things surprise me, but I was in total disbelief on that one. :11;

I my opinion, 2 words cover it;
"Delusional Punk"

Today in this country I am still allowed to have an opinion, unlike in Tienanmen Square,
that may change someday but to compare himself to a Chinese protester risking his life for a small taste of freedom?
*** is he thinking?

IDIOT!

That being said I am no being rude or crude in my comment of old men but look at the age of most of the people posting and bashing on here and I am sure you are over that 30 mark that you hold so highly in regards. I'm sure that your era of growing up you wouldn't dream of acting that way that Memmer did. Again even though he is my friend I did not excuse his actions in anyways. I am merely making a point that at sometime in you life you have gotten that upset. I know my dad has and he is almost 60. This is not the first time you have seen some racer act in an obscene way. As my dad did post Jack Hewitt throwing a fit at the flagman and then going back to the pits and talking sh**. It is not uncommon for people to lose their temper especially with something with such adrenaline pumping as sprint car racing.
Someone else brought up that I commented on his young age. Yes legally you are an adult but most people that are under that age of 30 still act like fools. I have not will I ever excuse his actions but defending him to such people who either were not there or didn’t see what happened in the pits I will do. Again he is my friend and I will always back my friends and tell them when they are wrong. His actions were wrong and he is aware of that.

I'm under 30, and wouldn't dream of acting the way Memmer did. I don't care if he is 18 or 68 what he did is inexcusable, and he should be punished accordingly. You DO NOT under any circumstances swerve toward an official; I don't care how old you are. Age is no excuse for his actions; if he can't control himself then he needs to get off of the race track. If you want to drive a race car, grow up and don't act like a child because that isn't what race fans come to see. If he flipped off Moe, then he deserved the two spots that he was docked for unsportsmanlike conduct.

As far as Jack Hewitt throwing a fit, it's different; he did not swerve his car at an official. He did not get out of his car and throw a temper tantrum at the officials and fans on the front stretch. The flagman of his race is my friend, and he isn't perfect and he'll tell you so.

People make mistakes and people also have the right to be upset about the mistakes made by someone else, but a public outburst like Memmer put on is not acceptable.

If you go to the race tracks around Indianapolis or Terre Haute then you've probably seen me, but I'll post my name anyways.

No joke. The prepared statement he read at the beginning was so bad, it was almost funny. The only one I felt kind of sorry for was Buckley. At the outset, it looked like he was going to try to help the kid do some damage control. Help him undo some of the damage he had done to himself, Saturday night. But that prepared statement made that impossible and the kid just kept digging the hole deeper, the further the show went on. If Sean archives these shows, you ought to give it a listen. It's interesting, to say the least. In a train wreck kind of way, that is.

Now, if we want to talk about young drivers from that part of the state, I don't know why we're wasting our time talking about this guy. We should be talking about Kurt Gross. Now there's a driver that has stepped up this year and is threatening (not in a Memmer kinda way) to drive his way into the next level.

I finally listened to his "apology" (sorry about missing the show, Sean. Much to do down here lately). His remorse just sounds too convenient. If he is sorry, it seems to be more for what has happened than the actions themselves. Well, time to move on. Nothing to see here. . . . . .

I like Kurt, I would also like to see Vennard get rolling again.

Re: John Memmer has an itch ? Niflis Flip

If you wanna put a big grin on Kurt's face tell him,
when he gets to be as good in a sprint car as his dad was in a go kart,
then he'll be somebody!

His dad Kendall was, (and probably still could be), an absolute animal in a 2 cycle open kart.

Re: John Memmer has an itch ? Niflis Flip

Plain and simple... If you aim your car (deemed a weapon in this state) in a malicious way towards anyone at a race track be it an official, fan, or other team members. Your ass should be parked for the year. That kid needs to learn. If I did this sh** as a kid my dad would have whipped my ass until he got tired and would have whipped my ass again when he woke up in the morning. Then he would have put all my sh** up for sale.

With myself and other parts of my family that work as officials at tracks. If someone comes at me with a deadly weapon then we may need to have a discussion away from the track. Bring your torsion bar!! You will need it!!

What if, instead of putting a driver back two spots under yellow for rough driving, that driver was docked two spots at the end of a race, after it was finished...

Might be the simple solution...

Speaking of Kendal Gross. I still recall his home built kart, Bultaco 250 motor with the tranny cut off, side ways at the flagman stand to scrub off enough speed to make it through the corner. If he could have found a clutch that would have held it, there would have been no beating him. Still gives me cold chills

Re: John Memmer has an itch ? Niflis Flip

I think Kendall used to race against my dad in the 2 cycle open stuff when I was just a wee (no pun intended) lad, I remember going to all the big money 2cycle open races when i was growing up, some BAD A$$ karts back then...
