I've got mixed emotions about the new track vs. the old 1/4 mile but...I still love the place and it saddens me to see the low car counts of the last couple of shows. Dave and Kim deserve better..I'm not sure what more they can do for the racers than they already have to attract them....I'm sure the economy and location have something to with this problem....so many sprint cars are based within a 50 mile radius of Indy and it may just be too expensive for some of the lower budget guys to drive past or away from a race track that is closer to them....I don't know????

My nose is still the same, and I ain't made of wood. Let's count how many sprint car shows I've been to against late model shows. Sprints win 5 to 1. Ill be at the burg this saturday supporting them

One big thing I think we are all overlooking so the cost of fuel racers spend to just get to the tracks . The Burg is like Haubstadt in that both are the farest away from where racers live arounf Indy. sorry just my 2 cents worth

Berate me all you want but:

Chris I completely agree with you on the "it's all racing" outlook you have. I love sprint cars and I love late models. They both are capable of putting on great shows. Maybe if some of you would give those "tin tops" a chance you wouldn't be disappointed.

My family has always been a sprintcar family but there is nothing better than the World 100 at ELDORA, tons of cars, good racing, and the best atmosphere of any race I have ever been to.


Also on the burg aspect I know for a fact that his plays into why some people don't race there: If you crash there(just like Eldora) more often than not your entire car is junk.

Yeah but there are less five car pileups. I've seen more cars junked in one night at another *Heralded Track* in IN. Kevin Swindell doing burnouts on peoples heads ect than a entire season at the Burg.

Yeah, if you hit the wall, I imagine anywhere your going to be out a bundle. But I've seen a ton of spins that were missed by everyone due to the sheer size of it. Bloomington or even the old Burg. They'd be and were five car pile ups.

Chuck, not trying to say anything bad about other tracks here. Just giving examples of the tradeoff

Another tradeoff is you go to other tracks, Race against 50 others and don't make the feature. You want to race or put it on the trailer after consi?

I too don't believe its all about motor. I seen Dickie take Brad stevens car to fifth place against USAC regulars. Brad does pretty well there himself :)

Well, I think the last three words of your post are the most intelligent of all the remarks contained in several threads on the Lawrenceburg subject. We have seen inane suggestions like tracks within 150 miles should shut down when Lawrenceburg runs and any other track that dares to run should have only support classes. Some have even resorted to insulting other tracks that have absolutely nothing to do with the Lawrenceburg car count. Then we see posts that claim the dozen or so sprint cars present at Lawrenceburg put on what could only be deemed a classic. The truth is that last weekend there were probably only three sprint car teams at LPS and Paragon that would have gone to Lawrenceburg on any occasion and remember that sprint cars were the support series to midget week at Lawrenceburg. Maybe the business model is wrong. Maybe Lawrenceburg is really a modified or late model track. Maybe there are not enough sprint car teams in the area to support sprints being the main attraction. Whatever the case, it seems that one should look closer to Lawrenceburg for solutions to the problem, if there is one, than Putnamville or Paragon. Both have established themselves as Saturday night fixtures in west central Indiana. They are less than 25 miles apart and don't try to steal each other's thunder. The stands are filled every week with people who come to watch their neighbors, cousins, in-laws, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters run. Oh, they have their little complaints, but they settle them between themselves. They don't expect other tracks to settle them. Good luck to you in the southeast in finding a solution. Rant mode off. :6:

360 wing sprints 410 non wing u wont get late models with the kentucky track and the mini sprints have great races there and run 13000 rpm around it.I am a mini sprint racer the only thing I wish dave would do is not run us behind the e mods or last every week.

If dave were to announce today that Burg was running LMs Saturday 25 of them would show up.

Dave, thanks for running Sprint cars weekly... we are lucky to have 5 tracks that run weekly though out the year.. bad racing is better then no racing in my book.. ready to see everyone there at isw.

i wish there was a way to have the highest mod purse in the area as well as the sprint purse. i know florence speedway pays $700 to win and starts 24 cars (burg 20). i know this has hurt the car count in this division. thx...
