Ive seen videos of them and they look awesome and put on a good show from what I've seen I just thought it was wierd that they would invite them to a place they don't run anywhere close to. Don't get me wrong hopefully this will open the door for some tracks around here to start running them. I would've just thought they would include another class or 2 from around here that's strong also other than just the midgets.

Re: Midget Races at Banker's Life
Im seeing a lot of invites on their page to drivers that don't necessarily have cars and also drivers that aren't on the top 40 list.
So if they don't get their act together You might not even get 40 cars. Yeah its the Chili bowl but them guys work on securing rides for the next year starting the day after it ends and have 11 months to secure something, not six or eight weeks in which owners will say, Yeah I'll run How much you got? |
They could get 40+ cars easy worth of T.Q.s lol

**NEWEST INVITATIONS**
MIDGETS Zach Daum OUTLAW KARTS Holly Shelton Max McLaughlin |
I'm sure the tqs would show up in plentiful numbers. I don't know much about outlaw karts even coming from a karting background but we got out in 98. Micros are boring from what races I've seen. Surprised they run at ft Wayne, wasted time slot in my opinion. Hopefully this show works out, any racing in winter is better than none. I miss the rca dome- ft Wayne races we ran in karts and tqs in the day.

I think this thing is starting to get some legs!

Thanks for updating us on the invitations extended. Please keep updating on those. Can you also keep us posted on accepted invitations though?
|
I guess I just don't understand some posts on threads like this. Go if you want go. Don't go if you don't want to. I'm going. If I decide the event wasn't good, I won't go back. I'm out $20, big deal. I saw an event I'd never seen before. A new event that is trying help midget racing can't be bad IMO. It's created a pretty big buzz. It's going to be tried, if it doesn't work, then it doesn't. If an event/race isn't an instant classic, 80% of the people on here want their money back. Guess that's not how my world works.

Re: Midget Races at Banker's Life
I saw on Twitter that Alex Bright has accepted an invitation, but have seen no other accepted invitations to this point. I think it will be a very interesting show, and a racing relief with the onset of winter.

Re: Midget Races at Banker's Life
So, since the IOW PC police have determined that we can no longer question the logistics, timing, or promoters of this event, I guess I will try to join in and have a positive post. ;)
If you have not found them a follow on Twitter, you should follow @indyindoors It is where the invites are being made, and where the invites are being accepted. The invite states that the acceptance has to be made through social media. It also interesting to see a couple of drivers campaigning to get an invite. On their twitter feed they have stated that "There is no set process/rankings for invitations. If you have a driver....make sure we know why they should be in. Anyone is possible." As it was mentioned earlier, some of the invites are for people that do not currently have a ride. It is up to the driver to find a ride, if they accept the invite. Finally, I want to talk about some of the lessons learned that I observed from Kemper. 1. Since these building are not ventilated well, be very careful on what vehicles that you put on the track. When it came time to rework the track, they brought out this old diesel tractor that put out an enormous about of fumes. The same can be said of some of the old push trucks that they brought out to iron out the track. The air quality was actually worse after they reworked the track than before. 2. Build your track where every space can be a race surface. On Friday night they built a top berm on the track, this just killed the top groove. On Saturday night, they had the track go all the way up to the wall which allowed the second groove a chance. 3. Understand your seating chart. They tried to sell the seats closer to the action at a higher rate because they were closer to the floor. However, the seats that were the most desirable were the ones in the middle of the stands. 4. If you are going to sell tickets based on a seating chart, you have to have ushers. At Kemper, they had two different rates, but no ushers inside policing where people sat. On Friday, I bought the more expensive seats, but then moved to a different section to get a better view. On Saturday, almost everyone bought the cheapest seats in the house and then sat where ever they wanted. 5. Be prepared for down time, with letting the building fumes clear out and the farming the track, it seemed that the Kemper race had more downtime than a normal show. 6. Be prepared for a lot of cautions. It is a small track and there is going to be a lot of contact. 7. Remember everything that makes a good show at the local track. Everything that gets discussed on this board every month should be remembered for the indoor show. This is a new event so you will have some excitement, don't kill it by being an hour late on starting the show. Or if you ever want to have a second race, you have to pay the drivers. |
Check their twitter feed. Joey Saldana, Dave Darland, Brady Bacon, Tracy Hines, and Bryan Clauson have all accepted. Stenhouse said he is working on a ride.
|
We are going because it's a race in December. We can't make DuQuoin this year so we were pretty stoked to see this race added. Every event has to start somewhere so instead of ripping it apart before it even starts, how about we say "thank you" to those responsible for organizing the event.
I'm sure you all will be asking for updates when the time comes.... |
Re: Midget Races at Banker's Life
My only question was. I see the invites and some accepting going on, But I don't necessarily see drivers with regular rides or their own car. You invite 40 and only get 15 cars to show up, then what happens?
Not being negative. just honestly want to see it come off as advertised. |

MIDGET INVITATION
Alex Bright |
Re: Midget Races at Banker's Life
This is in response to some of the questions about the size of the track. I attended the WNBA playoff game game last night and eyeballed the floor. For width, you have the basketball floor, sidelines which are perhaps 4-5 yards to the bleachers, and 7 rows of folding bleachers, each about a yard wide. I don't know how much room the folded bleachers take, but some I have seen don't take up much. This gives (very) roughly a basketball floor plus perhaps 8-10 yards per side. Lengthwise, you have a basketball floor and what looked like 10 yards or so on each end before you reach something stationary. This is very rough, but might give someone more familiar with indoor racing an idea.

I have a hard time seeing much of the displeasure in some of the posts. I guess the meaning and intent of words must change after you type them. I looked back at all the post from the beginning and if this thread was a conversation with a bunch of my buddies at the racetrack I think we would all still be friends. We are just sharing experiences suggestions and opinions just as if we were face to face having a normal friendly conversation.
