Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
These breaks in the race will be a big deal for the guys that know how to adjust for the dirt ?? How often can they change tires?

Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
I love seeing bloomer bring up the rear. It's hard to run good when you can't dope tires haha!

Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
I sure liked that clip at the beginning, with Kinser and Hewitt!
This is turning out pretty good! |

Go figure Napcar trying to give this one to anyone but a dirt track regular. Go Larson!

C'mon Larson and get that spoiled brat!

Dillon's doing well. Larson was fine staying on his tail but couldn't find a way around him late in that segment.
I'm amazed at how horribly wrong Bloomquist got his chassis setup. And also Schrader being midfield. |
Thought Bloomer did some of the chassis research from NASCAR ?.

DW MW same thing, both are annoying as can be

Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
That ended up being a pretty damn good race. Better than most NASCAR races, anyway. 19th and 13th battled for the win. And how about Dillon saying "dirt racin' is real racin'"? I think I like Austin Dillon a little bit more than I did before. And he beat Kyle Larson at Eldora. That means the kid can race a little bit, too.

Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
Who here thinks next year the Trucks should run both Eldora and Knoxville? :23: :22:

Hopefully the ratings are there for the networks to have more midweek live dirt track racing. That was an exciting show.

Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
Semi entertaining!
|
that track prep (or total lack thereof) was shameful, one grove the whole night, no bottom, no middle/ just hideous attempts at slide jobs/ a whole lot of hype about nothing but proving that pickup trucks were made to push start race cars!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
MMSA 1,000cc Mini Sprints fast time was 17:421 last year.

As much as I like a heavy, hammer down track with a nice cushion, you can't have it that way for 3,600 lb trucks that ride so low to the ground! Tony and the staff did exactly what they needed to do! They made a hard slick track that took rubber and made it racy as hell as the race went on. Did you notice that speeds picked up 10-12 mph later in the feature from early in the night? This was a great event that will help the integrity of dirt track racing tremendously!
Congrats to Austin Dillon, Kyle Larson, Ryan Newman and everyone else that was a part of history! Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
Dillon will probley have to report to napcar trailer for saying on TV This is real racing on dirt :8:

Better than I thought it would be. Anyone? Track was what it was 'supposed to be', which is camera friendly and windshield friendly. Track crew did a great job of obliging NASCAR in my estimation. Probably hard to provide a custom order racing surface. Again, and it sort of pains me, but the racing was better than I thought they would have.

I thought it was a pretty good show. I thought the track was prepared well for the trucks. It was an Earl style 4 crown track. I also thought it was good enough to make a good impression on non dirt fans. Eldora got a ton of attention from this that it could not have gotten from anything else. I thought they did a good job.

Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
I admit it came off better than I thought it would. I knew 30% of the field would put on a show. It was the other 70% that I thought would ruin it my making mistakes all night. Everybody did a good job given their experience. The track was exactly what I thought it would be so knew that going in.
I still have no interest in attending in person, but it was good entertainment on a Wednesday night. I wouldn't stay home from a race to watch it though. |
Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
Heres the thing I'd change about it. Id have LMs and Mods and run their whole program before the trucks ever touched the track for qualifying, heats anything,
The racing never got good untill it was slick top to bottom and that only happened after the LMs ran in between the heats and the consi. Another thing I would change is not having yellow laps count, Expecially in the final segment. I would love to see the final segment be the 60 lap segment as well. |
Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
Don't know if this means anything, but my Twitter feed blew up with comments last night about how good the race was and about how the people tweeting needed to find their local dirt track (I'm a pavement guy and so are most of people I know on Twitter).
This was the best Wednesday night I've had in a long time. I enjoyed the race, but was hoping Kyle would get Austin. Yellow flag laps should not be counted in the last segment. |
Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
The video clips and the dirt racers in the intros was worth tuning in.
|
Re: Trucks on Speed at Eldora
That was a very good race last night! The feel good story of the night was Norm Benning fighting for that last spot in the B-main!
How many race fans that watched or attended their first dirt track race will go to another dirt race in the near future? Who knows, I bet some will give it a go. I'd just like to see their face when a pack of Sprints, Late Models or Modified fire off for hot laps on a heavy track! |

Get ready for having to stand to watch a race.........
