Tractor show at haubstabt is long enough. Give him a half mile and we would never get to see a feature.

fab_man21 7/3/11 5:32 PM

By the time you find some one in this area that can work a track all these young drivers will be retired! call haubstaut they might be able to revive it

This track rework can take 3 or 4 hours. The water truck hasn't left the filling area yet.

The initial prep he has done before anyone gets there would be enough to get a good show on the surface...if you only knew what you were talking about

Never gonna get enough water on it. They should pump from the tunnel on to the front stretch

Its not too late maybe they could move the sprint week race to Putnamville.

EKracing 7/3/11 5:38 PM

This race could have easily started at 1130. A little wheelpacking is all we needed. I hope that white water truck that I watched do 400 laps from 11 am to 2 pm comes back out and sprays they heck out of this desert.

Sounds like a typical USAC Cluster F***.

Had a feeling this would happen when I heard USAC was running the show out there now. How are they going to spin this one?

USAC Racing
Regretfully, we must announce the postponement of today's "Sumar 100" to a date we will name later as a result of unsafe racing conditions.

Re: Action track status

Okay, back home, showered, now time to vent.

First off, when I got there at 11:30, the front stretch was a mud pit. They kept running around in the tractor and water truck until turn four in the lower segment was dry!

Finally they got the grader out and got hte front stretch okay. It was somewhat dusty during qualifying, but not bad.

They brought out the water truck (big one), but the operator was watering the upper portions of the turns and not hte front stretch. I am not into track prep, but if it is dusty on the front stretch and the lower portions of hte turns, you water that area!

When they did the parade lap, they were already kicking up dust. When they got the green flag, it was un freaking believable. You couldn't see crap. I had enough there and told Jerry Coons Jr. and Dave Darland good luck if they race after all and left.

I want the Action Track to succeed, but if this is how it is going to be, let it sit. As it stands now, I got a ticket to the ISW show and I work....yeah. I knew the track prep during the King era was bad, but this was much worse (side note, the guy who did the track prep during the King Era was in the grader).

BRING BACK THE O'Conners AND Bob Sargent, I had never seen THAT look as good as it did when I was there last year for the race I got to.

An add on, on Lloyd Wall's facebook page, someone there said someone was cussing out the USAC officials and tried to climb the fence to get to them. Police got to him though (probably drunk).

HA --- They ask me why i wasn,t going to THE ACTION TRACK. ---Now they know why

terrehautian 7/3/11 6:23 PM

Re: Action track status

Heck, the only reason I went was because I got a free ticket. Had it not been for that, I probably wouldn't have gone.

Another interesting note, due to pitting in parking lots, people were able to roam the pits without a pit pass. Some people bought a pit pass too.

BTW, Darron Clayton posted this picture of T Mex's car.

After today, until I hear things are better, I probably won't go to THAT for a while. The O'Conners had it looking good at the race I got to last year. I needed a reason to get to TSS and the Burg again. Perhaps once I get my tent that I have in layaway, I will head to the burg one Saturday.

Now they have two races to re schedule.

TRACK CONDITIONS FORCE TERRE HAUTE POSTPONEMENT

Terre Haute, IN……..Extreme heat and deteriorating track conditions which resulted in an aborted start forced postponement of Sunday afternoon’s First Financial Bank “Sumar Classic 100” at the Terre Haute Action Track. The United States Auto Club, after extensive efforts to prepare a track suitable for racing, will now seek an alternate date to conduct the event. USAC extends its sincerest appreciation to the fans and participants who supported this event and will announce a rescheduled date when it is firm. “We obviously are sorry that Saturday night’s heavy rains in the Terre Haute area presented some difficult challenges for us all and we are dedicated to giving our fans the most competitive event possible,” said Jason Smith, USAC Executive Vice-President. “Unfortunately, we were prepared for a great event before the heavy rains created circumstances which led to this postponement. This decision was made in the best interest of safety for our participants
and
fans.” Levi Jones posted the fastest qualifying time prior to the cancellation. Thomas Meseraull escaped injury in a flip on the aborted original start.

Decided to pay the Jeep off before I did anything to it like that. Trust me, I still want to do pushing, but not until I can pay it off (that way I could buy a back up DD and have something to drive just in case I break something off roading or pushing).

Re: Action track status

Here's the reason that a real great opportunity was blown, today. Because of the rain last night, they were forced to pit behind the open grandstand and the first row of the gravel parking lot that motor homes usually park. The race fans were walking about that area for hours today and the interactions they were having with the drivers and teams were just a sight to see. Especially the kids. Seeing the race cars up close and putting a face to the driver driving those cars just adds something to the whole experience for them. I know that's what set the hook in me, when I was that age, at this track. If USAC wants to have an event that will go a long way towards making making up for what happened today, let them pit like they did today, where the fans can be a part of it and then actually give them a race to see at the end of the day and they'll have a chance to really hit one out of the park. Today was a potential great day at the Terre Haute Action Track, that just totally blew up at the end.

Jerry

I agree Jerry, I loved that they were pitting in that area. Especially since they didn't enforce a pit pass thing (be sorta hard).
