[QUOTE=ThePurple73;291043]You might be old school if you found it entertaining when a drivers wife would climb the flag stand ladder to discuss the race with the flagman.

Especially if that wife was Mahalia Kinser !

Here's ya some old school midget pics. From V-Twin to Evinrude powered like mentioned earlier. I'm 30 so this was a ways before me but there's a few pics on page 7 of them racing in an arena Full of people and it is one of the neatest pictures I've ever seen.

Tim you are hard core and old school, times on the road in your shop and just hanging out shooting the S$%^ will always be apart of our lives. I am so proud that my sons, Paul and Josh had the chance to know you and to be a part of the "old school" that you and so many other people of your caliber provided people like me. Be safe my friend.

Your old school if you remember Tex Enrite standing in the middle of the track as a pack of thundering mods came his way, waving the green and just barely getting out of the way as they raced past. His cowboy hat never flew off, amazing.
Ever cut up a perfect 36 plymouth coupe body for your modified ? You have ? your old school.
Walk to school 5 miles up hill both ways ? old school.
You think tweeting is something birds do ? Yep you know what you are.

You know your old school if you remember Shorty's steak house in Pleasantville, Iowa after the races at Knoxville.

You know your old school when you are driving down the freeway in Los Angeles and see a huge ASCOT sign.

You know you are old school if you have a bunch of Carrera Shock Nationals shirts in various colors.

You know you are old school if you remember someone towing a sprint car on a wooden farm "hay" trailer pulled by a station wagon. Then using parts off the pull car on the race car.

I remember all those things, and the fastest started in the rear to make a better race, except for sand bagging ,or qualifing with a plug wire off,or your car jumped out of gear because the gear box problem,or your ross or flynn steering was having a problem, and you had a tee shirt on as your race uniform

You might be "old school" if you remember:
-Dayton Speedway
-If you had 7 different colors of arm bands in your glove compartment
-Sprint Car Pictorial
-Calcuta (spelling?) at THAT
- "He's a full time racer" Terry Baltes on the PA at Eldora
-When USAC was respected and had a passion for their sport
-Sunday night at Angel Park
-Poker games at Salem
-My all time best friend Bob Fine
-When drivers and teams stayed after the races to spend time with the fans
-When race cars had names, example, Elder Cadalac, Rodeo Bar, Smith Speed Shop, Coyote, ect..
-Great Leaders Like: Gary Sacola, Mike Devin, Roger McClusky, John Capels, Russ Clendenon
-"THANK YOU FOR CALLING USAC"
-When you could trust a friend and your word defined you as a man :22:

If you had a beer keg for a fuel cell and you were high tech, yep old school. If you can still remember Jan Opp's smiling face under his brothers hat and the hate most of the local drivers had for the "hippy", the coolest driver I've ever met, your OS.

You might be old school if you used to complain about racing by writing a letter to Speed Sport News rather then posting on a message board.

I am old school. Watched Dad's car run at Berea, Ohio fairgrounds in 1945. 1946 at Sportsmans Park, Canfield Fairgrounds, Akron Rubber Bowl for a few. First race in 1947 at Canfield when the front stretch pit was line with all new Kurtis Kraft Offenhausers. My first stock car race at Barberton,Ohio in 1953. First USAC race in Frank Bardazon Offy at New Bremmen,Ohio in l961. First IMCA race at Tampa, Florida in George Nesler sprinter in February of 1962. Plenty of race stories in all the years.

Wasn't aware there was any other way! It is hard to find a good brush artist anymore, and expect to pay more, maybe, guess I'm Old School, some call me "Retro" and have for years, but when I take my car to my "artist", he doesn't need any instructions, kinda like getting a hair cut, spend 10 minutes telling him how you want it, and he'll spend whatever time it takes, to make it look right!Bob!:8:

You are old school if you remember snapping the seat cover upholstery on at the race track.

You are old school if you won a nylon jacket from a fuel additive company for winning the trophy dash.
