You guys just don't seem to get it. All you say is jump in a car and see what it's like and blah, blah, blah. I for one would love to strap into one of these cars and have a go at it, is that offer on your dime or your daddies? Because as most others on this board, I'd be in a car every week if I could afford to do so. Does that make me more credible? No.

The fact that you guys say stop bashing him he can drive, he can drive tells me your not paying attention. The boy can drive, I think we'd all agree, over his head at times but yes he can drive. The point to all this is just because the kid can drive a car doesn't give him the right to bash fellow competitors and basically act like a lil *****. Driving is probably less than half of the total package these days, how he acts, talks, and treats people is suppose to be what gets these kids noticed and respected. If it were only driving that mattered why do we have these seminars that groom youngsters how to look, talk, walk etc....

He shows no respect, therefore non will be given. The only way you'd change this man's opinion of him is when I hear an apology from him to his fellow competitor's for badmouthing them when it's unfounded, or an apology for doing burnouts on a fellow competitor's head, does he care about the people he's racing against at all? If he does he doesn't show it. If you want to cheer on someone like that, it's a free country do as you will. But we are also free to dislike whomever we want.

That statement right there should sum things up and end this discussion. He has talent and no fear of driving fast. IF he ever gets the entire package together such as attitude, patience, and speed and respect from those he races against he can guarantee a long and successful career.

And for those who asked earlier (The G rated version):

Congrats to Kevin Swindell for a good run at The Chili Bowl. Unfortunately, one spot from a transfer and ironically behind KKK.

To make a more accurate quote of Ron White about this Kevin Swindell situation:

You can't fix Stupid.

Seems like Kevin is very popular on this board. Lots of young drivers get over there head and crash somtimes taking other comnpetiters, These days its called a learning curve. I guarentee in a couple years all will be forgotten. Hell I remember in the early 80's when Dale Earnhardt was a brutal villan........Now he is a IKON. Is it not funny how time seems to change peoples opinion.:angry-smiley-007::angry-smiley-007:

If that's how it's done these days, then I'll take the "OLD DAYS" where repeated stupid acts got you punched in the snoot and you learned real quick to use your head.

What happened to respecting yours & other peoples equipment?

This past week I saw a woman about the same age as Kevin's mother at the Chili Bowl wearing a back brace due to recent spinal surgery. She had difficulties getting into and out of the bleachers. Sometimes her husband was unable to be right on the spot to assist her, and she received help from other people close by. One such person who helped this women get out of the bleachers was Kevin Swindell. The woman later went to Kevin's pit specifically to thank him again. He was so polite to her.
Thanks again, Kevin, for helping Grandma Kim !!

Nice touch to the story there Steve! With Kevins great drive at the Chili Bowl I wish him the best, he did a great job and nothing that we could question this time out. If he keeps it up I will take back all I ever said about him being a punk. That is awsome he helped out GmaKim. Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes people learn their lesson. Kevin was dealt a pretty serious punishment towards the end of the year. Hopefully, it was a wake up call. And if it was, he deserves the benefit of the doubt. He's always had the talent and from the looks of things, decided that this week, he would get by on that alone. And, IMO, the duel between he and the National Driver of the Year was the best of the A-Main. And hearing a story, like that, from someone (POCF) who is a credible source to me, as far as my opinion goes, means he might be headed in the right direction.

I'm glad Kevin had such a positive weekend.Yeah I've been critical of him in the past, but racing hard while showing respect on and off the track can go a long ways toward changing people's minds.:thumb:
In other words; what Jerry said!

Re: Kevin Swindell

Kevin had a great week and should be commended for racing hard and smart, all the way to the front pack of the Saturday night Main Event.

It's been a long, hard year for him and it certainly seems as though he's learned a lot. Hindsight's 20/20 and I think he can see a lot of where things went off track this year.

The fact of the matter is that he's got a boatload of talent, and this week, he stayed out of trouble to come home with a great finish. Even the biggest haters can acknowledge that he knows how to get around a race track.

We'll see what the future holds for Mr. Swindell....

From what I seen on tv he run a clean race and did a good job of it. But I hear he was shaking his fist at Stanbrough on the cool down lap from some people that where at the race.

Heromaker 1/14/08 12:59 PM

Re: Kevin Swindell

I will agree he had a clean weekend. I watched him quite a bit and he never touched another car. And after a horrible heat race (upside down at least once) it is like a switch went off. Hopefully this will carry on for his sake.

They all shake fists at each other when they cant get around....Terry McCarl gave some one his "wave" after he passed them in one of the races...If that is the worst thing he did all week, he really needs a pat a on the back from all of us.
