J.R. (767),

With all due respect, that statement is absolutely absurd! You might be fine with that in your demolition derbies, but that's not for all types of racing. By the way, I don't mind demolition derbies at all. In fact, they're pretty fun to take in from time to time. It sounds to me like they're lucky that they weren't at the Rush County Fairgrounds. A few years ago I saw a couple of drivers get put in cuffs for something that was NOWHERE close to this situation! So, in that aspect, I'd say they're pretty lucky, like "indycar45" mentioned. It might sell more tickets in NASCAR, but that's not going to sell tickets to a Regional Midget/Focus/Kenyon car event.

I think that the punishment is fitting, but that's just judging by what I've read on here. You can't let them get by with that sort of thing. Some sort of punishment was needed, period.

Don't bet against Janice. She knows more about racing matters than a lot of us put together.

why isnt the drivers the same? everybody wants to be treated the same. they both were fighting. the dads got the same,so it wasnt about who started what.

Re: Anderson Midgets

Because the officials reviewed the situation and made that determination - punishments in all sorts of sports altercations are not uniform -

the punishment fit.

and thats why we have so many problems in this world because its not the same for the other guy.

Re: Anderson Midgets

Dead wrong - its the opposite. How may workplace policies are designed because of the one person who screwed things up for the masses - and as a result everyone has to pay? Should the kid who taunted the Oregon player last night get punished? Yes. Should the Oregon player face a harsher punishment. Yes.

Re: Anderson Midgets

they both jumped in the fight instead of standing back and try to stop the fight so they both made the wrong move but its ok for one to jump in and not the other.

Pat, I think he is just POed because the "girl" received less punishment than the male. And unless he witnessed this situation, so how would he really know who did what to whom?

Pat, don't waste your time with 767. He goes around putting down everyone. He is not worth your time.

Shawn, I believe I recall the incident you are referring to, and they were escorted off in cuffs. Problem was, that, as I recall, was the only punishment they received, no "time off", to think it over. Fines and dollar amounts don't work, but suspensions do, and even that has to be dealt with carefully, you can't let them pick and choose when they want to "sit out", it has to be administered by the organization. Re: Anderson Midgets

I didn't see it - was in the pits in the aftermath - I asked two people what happened - Don Kenyon and a friend of mine who was working on a car - and instead of going by and congratulating all the winners as I planned to do I walked straight to my car and went home and was disgusted. My part of this conversation has never been about the particulars of the situation - but merely to point out the following

a) Officials have to take action on these matters
b) Good officials use judgement in determining the respective punishments and that doesn't require uniformity
c) There are generally reasons differential punishments are handed out. In principle it means that they have determined different levels of guilt, participation, or other important contextual factors are emphasized. And I would add
d) In all cases someone is going to view this as unfair

But wouldn't SHE be considered the aggressor by going to HIS pit....usually the aggressor gets the stiffer penalty..:34;

Re: Anderson Midgets

As I said above - I didn't see it - I wasn't in the decisionmaking process. Again - 9 times out of 10 when I carry on about these things (and at some point I swear never to get back on this board) it is about the issue from a conceptual level - not a specific level. I have no dog in this fight whatsoever - I work for the series - I announce the race - I go home.

She didn't go into his pits, she was at the scales getting weighed I believe they were approached.

Re: Anderson Midgets

I missed the incindent and haven't spoken to anyone about it. The only reason I am posting is we raced several years with the regional series and Don Kenyon is fair, stern, firm and private in making his decisions. If he feels one racer was further out of line than the other- they probably were and the punishment fits the crime.

why can't we all just get along...:32:

I cant believe some of these responses... You put your hands on a woman you should get your balls cut off, not just get suspended for 10 races. Mario got off easy

Please dont take this wrong, I agree you never touch a woman......but when anyone puts a uniform on they lose any gender association. They are to be treated like any other race driver.

I disagree. You never hit a woman....in any circumstance. Uniform or not.

I don't think Mike is disputing that but what he is trying to say is if she was equally involved then she should be punished equally. Although I think it's obvious, at least to most of us, she was simply defending herself but she was a part of it and was punished as fit.

mario won the race and some of you think he jumped in a fight because he won.and two the fight did start in his pit and i dont think his dad was mad because his son just won the race.

all the old greats use to fight on occasion ,aj,mario, parnelli, kladis,
anybody who was anybody! that was when midget racing was in its heyday.
then they would end up at the same bar and buy each other a beer.thats what
real competitors do and i think its good to see that fire in these guys and gals.your
kidding yourself if you think most fans are disgusted by a fight, maybe a few sensitive types
but unless you've led an extremely sheltered life it's not as big a deal as you think.
hearing about this has peaked my interest that much more for the upcoming joliet race
and hopefully those drivers will be there!

and one more thing and im done with this post. there was a rule sent to everyone that you are not to go to anyones pit after the race if you had a problem. but that rule most only be for a select group.
