I can't image not going to a race because I know that there are going to be live updates. IMHO, there is absolutely no comparison between sitting in front of a computer and experiencing the excitement, the noise, the aromas, the people, the whole atmosphere of a race. I realize that the economy is bad and car counts are down, attendance is down. I'm not sure that I am willing to accept that lower attendance is caused by updates rather than the economy and this cursed weather we have been having this year. It seems to me in times like this everyone who loves sprint car racing needs to find a way to work together to help the sport.

Just my opinion. I could be wrong.

For a die-hard fan you are correct, there is nothing better than being there in person. But for a fan that lives a few hours away, is on a budget and there might be weather threatening a race live updates can mean the difference between them going or staying home and this is what hurts a track owner. Especially when it's been advertised on a message board such as this all week long that a web-site will have updates live and all i have to do is sit back and click, click, click my way to the checkered flag. If I were a track owner this would make me nervous and I wouldn't want a site giving my fans a reason to stay home and catch the race on the net.

Thats it, they do it for the fame, at first I thought it was all the money they were making, man was I wrong. I wish I would have thought of doing live updates, just think of how rich they are now, there is no way they went through all that trouble just for the love of the sport. I heard Kyle is building a beach front home in Hawaii and Don is looking to buy out TSR. I realize now that most of you folks that refuse to sign your name are doing your mothers a favor, you guys should all be on Jay-Walking. What a bunch of dumbasses.:loser: Fire away idiots!

Everyday you promote your website on IOW, who had 13 million clicks in May, to draw people over to your site where you don't even have a IOW logo on your page, yes a link hidden away. IOW has had no problem with people providing updates for many years. T2D has been up for maybe a year and has problems, Why? If your going to use IOW to get people at least post updates on OW too.
You don't need to be up with the officals and why not even top 5 from poweri in Ky the other night?

Fans do stay home nowdays because they know they will get updates and the cost of fuel and maybe rain.

So cry into your own towel when you get denied track creds for free. I don't think IOW is on any track list.

Their is a reason many tracks don't accept websites as a real media worthy of a cred.

How does this sport get popular or addictive to fans?? by people getting to know the participants. Ever go to a hockey game or baseball game where you didn't know who was who and what was what?

TTD.com certainly helps peole get to know all of this. The tracks they run at and I think updates give people a idea who to watch for when they actually do get to attend.

I'll agree Haubstadt has ever right to do whatever they want in the interest of buissness but I think they would give more fans the incentive to visit in the future than encourage people not to go. Like I said in another post. Sometimes you just can't make it and if it wasn't for people telling me about the AWESOME HAUBSTADT and the RACING THAT GOES ON THERE. I probably wouldn't have made my one and only visit to the 5hour away track that after visiting have no problem telling people they've got to see it to believe it.

Good PR gets you more fans. I think TTD.com is good PR and the Updates don't hurt the attendance at all.

I also thought it was ironic that racefan 20 was capable of getting updates without anyone getting a credential or acess to the scorers. I feel that made someone jealous, since some people make a huge deal about themselves.

By the way for the first time since 1983 I am having to pick and choose more than ever due to high fuel and health insurance costs, which is why I wasn't at Haubstadt. I will be there Sprintweek. But I still went to 2 races and my girlfriend and I both paid to get in.

Good luck with your website, see you at the races.

that is exactly what i was thinkin funk. :thumb
