Re: Hartford, MI USAC race

Some of the most pretty long broadslides I've seen were at the I-96 usac shows on the half. Usac has run sprints and midgets at both tracks and they have been thrillers. I think Steve Stapp picked up his 50th car owner victory at I-96. As far as Hartford goes you could almost put Eldora inside of it. They are big tracks and worth the trip.

I went to a NST show there in 2006. I would say it is larger then Eldora, but I think the vast emptiness of the infield is what makes it seem much larger.

I will be going to the Big Block Modified race next Tuesday at I-96. I am hoping the 1/2 is in great shape.

Hartford is hands down the best family friendly facility in the state with a well run program.

If you've been to Terre Haute, it would fit inside Hartford. Pictures don't do Hartford justice with the amount of banking there.

Both I-96 and Hartford really need the support from the Indiana Open Wheel fans to make these shows work. The state is dominated by the Late Model crowd so it will be interesting to see who shows up... most have never seen USAC in person (shame on them...).

If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to help. I go to Hartford every week and am the webmaster there.

I will be making the 6 hour plus drive for my gala birthday celebration on Sat. August 11th.:44:

You are all invited to come up.

There will NOT bday cake or ice cream.
The local fire dept. nixed it because of the high candle count!!!!

I certainly hope the cars show up.
Originally this was only the Hartford date but Usac decided to book the Lake O (i96) date as incentive for cars & fans.
I will be partying like im 99 ....er
I mean like it was 1999! :5:
Watch for the video on jackslash!!!
Or the local police news! :)):22:

Looks like it's going to be beautiful weather this weekend for the Hartford USAC show.

If you want to watch the best of the best go head to head be at Hartford Motor Speedway Saturday August 11th!

This may have already been answered somewhere, but why are these two tracks (I-96 and Hartford) not racing these shows on their regular nights? Hartford is a Friday track and I-96 is a Saturday track, so why not run USAC on their regular nights? I would think that would be better for I-96 also since it would give them another day to prep the track for the USAC show after they had the big block modifieds last night. Too late to change now, but I was wondering why they didn't race on their regular nights.

We all know for the general race fan that Saturday's are the most desirable days for short track racing and getting fans to travel a long distance to get to places that don't normally host such unique events such as USAC.

Hartford decided to try make the Saturday race, and only once Hartford signed the deal with USAC did I-96 decide they wanted a race too, but since Hartford already had the Saturday, USAC wanted to make it a double header weekend which forced I-96 into a Friday or Sunday event. Believing that Friday would be in the best interest of generating a higher car count before Hartford, they went with Friday.
