Looks like a furr piece to go over there to me, what with all my race track construction experience (:wink) and all. But, I'm sure they will throw everything they've got at it when the weather permits. I'd be surprised if there aren't some significant performance penalties built into the contract in the event of late completion.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the future at the 'Burg. I'm afraid that it will become a "special events" only venue in time, with many of those events being of little or no interest (wings, lates, etc.) to me. Then again, it's my understanding that they're not building it just for me. If they hop the cushion now, they can't just slip over the bank and drive back on the track down the backstretch. They're likely to bite some concrete. As a sprint car owner friend told me "a $500 wreck is going to become a 2 grand wreck". We shall see.

Been frequenting the joint for over 40 years. Will keep the faith and hope for (and expect) the best. :checkered:

I haven't seen what it looks like I'll wait until opening day and hope for the best. I don't care for making it bigger because bigger faster means bigger costlier repairs for owners, I feel you will see the weekly car counts drop off more than in the past by mid season I hope I'm wrong but I think that's how it will pan out. IF this turns out to be like Florence that would be a major mistake...

Some people just don't like change. Jerry Spencer mentioned seeing some of the best racing at the "old Kokomo". At one time there was some great racing, but since they reconfigured the track 3-4 years ago you cannot deny it is safer and the racing is absolutely awesome!!
Hopefully Lawrenceburg will turn out that way also.

Just went down today and several others stopped by including Mr. Rudisell himself. Actually let us walk back and look er over. Theres more done than you think is done and he says they say the track will be race ready by April to him.

Some things told to me were. The two light poles in the center are coming down and four are being built in the infield PLUS two light poles on the back straight like over the grandstand. The place should be one of the best lit and its designed not to interfear with cameras.

He said they say the track will be ready but they won't be done (Turn Two grandstands and plaza) That work will continue as can be accomplished.

A Hellapad is being constructed incase of severe emergencys. There will be two or three cubbys for the Emergency crew for quck access to accidents.

They will be able to focus more on the track itself now that they don't have to water outside the track and the infield and the back road and every place else that stired up dust other than the track

The track, After a walk down the grandstand looks just awesome to me, The flagstand is probably 2/3rds down the front straight, The first turn banking starts in section A and even from the concession you won't be able to see the track, You won't be able to see the track from the top of a hauler but a turn three grandstand is being constructed.

When all is said and done they should be able to seat about 2 thousand more not including the pit granstand

Florence? Close but not quite, The thing about florence is its uphill on the front straight and downhill on the back and 1/2 are banked different than 3/4 and the fact they keep it dry slick is florences whole problem. The MSCS race to me was awesome and that mainly was because we had 2-3 inches of rain the thurs night before it.

I understand everyones concerns, Expecially about cost. I hope it isn't as bad as people think it will be in that catagory. I can surely understand hitting the wall costing more than replacing some bars and a axel ect.

I just hope you all have fun, Have great racing, Be safe and the fans come in droves to see you.

Chuck, super burg fan and not PR guy :)

The cost has already happened as it is now $3 more to get in for a regular show. And more $$$ to park on the backstretch. Nice to see you can take a joke Chuck...uh........PR guy!

Are you saying it's close to Florence? They have a lot more problems than just keeping it dry slick over there but I won't go into that here. I'm getting scared comparisons to florence? Higher Admissions? are the prices going up on everything else as well? Hot dogs, beers?

Id say the track is simular in size to Florence but banked more like Eldora. Florence is flat in the staights

3 bucks, Still the best entertainment bargain in the buisness and you can bring your own drinks and snacks. A movie cost 10 and add another 12 if you want extras. I got no problem with that if it means they can keep racing. I believe when Im told they don't make a dime on a reg show.

Mel used to charge 14 back in the eighties I remember because I was 12 for like four years to get the 12 and under rate of ten.

LOL, I turned 12 in 1988, yet so far as racetrack admission windows knew, I didn't turn 13 until about 1992.:wink

Being small for one's age came with a lot of disadvantages, but this was one perk.
