Another entertaining evening at the Gasser this evening. Stanbrough started in the second row but dropped back at the beginning of the feature with Grant setting the pace. Burdette, Puterbaugh and Spencer were in the mix for second with Stanbrough. Cottle, Weir and Windom were on the move from farther back in the pack. Jon was able to make the pass for the lead around the half way mark and was able to stretch it out somewhat.
Tough night for Darland, T-Mez and Elson. Darland took a wild ride early in the feature. Those are the ones you are glad to see the driver walk away from. Scary indeed. T-Mez was a victim of circumstance in his heat taking a tumble. I didn't see what happened to Elson in the feature, but he ended up on his lid as well. Thankfully they all walked away. Kudos again to the track crew for another night without a track rework. The surface was smooth and racey. Even the modified feature went green :23: to checker :22: without a caution.:41:: |

Re: What drivers @ GC Friday for extra $1000
Very competitive race, one of the best of the year. It started out with Grant pulling away and a good race for 2nd with JS falling back. He was having trouble in turn 2, and getting the feel of the new car. Then halfway through he found the top and his groove and came to the front. Scotty Weir in the Benic car wa coming from the rear through the field. When Jon took the lead, Windom came on top to challenge and he and Jon raced for 4-5 laps back and forth till the late yellow. After the yellow Jon went back to the top and checked out but Cottle who had been moving on the bottom as well, challenged Windom and they raced side by side, swapping for the last 5-8 laps. Shane finally got by him. A few more laps and Scotty would have been there as well. Very competitive and good track.
The Darland flip was scary. He started barrel rolling from the middle of the backstrech to high over turn three. Very fast rolls with 2 other cars right around him trying to avoid the flip. Really glad to see Dave walk away. The Mods also put on a good show with Scott Orr nipping Devin Gilpin on the White Flag lap, after he had led the whole race. Good night at the Gasser! |
