Re: USAC Webcasts
I get to Indiana a few times a year ussually try to catch Gas City and a few others. We get traditional sprint cars 1 to 2 times a year here in Western Mo at the most. I travel to any within 300 miles or so plus the full TNT tour.
The web cast are great. But not worth full admission price, you miss too much you would see there. I don't always watch the front. Often I am watching a particular driver or just looking through the field for the best racing. With a webcast or TV show you are limited to what they want you to see. If it came between web cast and going live being there wins hands down and I think about anyone else who would go would be the same way. Look at baseball, football, basketball. It can be 100 degrees ot 0 outside and the game be on TV and the place will still sell out |

Re: USAC Webcasts
Dave has let them broadcast several USAC races from The Burg. I have personally seen them from my phone from the parking lot while at the track. Most smart promoters, Dave included, (although I'm not calling him smart. LOL) won't announce in advance that the race will be on the net. It would give fans an incentive to stay home if they KNEW it was going to be on the net for free. He has however several times allowed the races to be on. Maybe it was a last minute decision so that people wouldn't know in advance.
I can tell you this. I love the races on live, but If I was a promoter and knew it would definately cost me admission $$$ there is no way in hell I would tell people in advance that the race was going to be on for free. I might allow it occasionally to be done at the last minute as several tracks have done this year, but no way in hell am I going to let people know in advance. |
Re: USAC Webcasts
AERO410SCJA, and what would your suggestion be for those of us that had our local track (Manzy) closed down last year? Sometimes it isn't as simple as getting in your car and traveling to a new venue. Many people frequent this site and Usac's site from outside the Indiana area and can not travel to the races on a regular basis but are still USAC fans. In my opinion USAC still has too many bugs in their live broadcast for PPV. They have been providing the video for free from certain tracks, find sponsorship money to continue providing the video for free.
The midget week races they had video for sure didn't seem to effect the crowd from what I saw. I think if any of us had a choice we would rather be at the races in person but many times cann't be. USAC provides a great service to those of us that wish we could be there and cann't when they live stream the races. Many of those viewers are family members or fans of the competitors who live to far away to attend the races on a weekly basis. I know my retirement income doesn't allow me to attend nearly as many races as I use to and USAC's live streaming is greatly appreciated. Patti |

Amen Patti! I couldn't have said it better!!
Thank you so much to USAC, Dean and everyone involved in getting updates to all of us!:9::9: I am very glad people who can, do go and support the tracks but like Patti said, some of us can't. |
Re: USAC Webcasts
I too greatly enjoy the broadcasts when I CAN'T make it to a track. For instance there are some tracks (like Gas City) that do not allow children in the pits. And since we do this sport as a family, and it is too difficult for me to occupy a one year old in the grandstands for an entire evening when all he wants to do is see the race cars up close, I simply don't go. If I can watch it at home AWESOME, if not (which is the case with this example) I understand. I WOULD pay a fee to watch races from home. I would NEVER simply not go to see a race live because of the reason "well I can watch it on my computer". There's no comparison, but for those of us that can't make it, or live across the country, it's an amazing option. You never know, you might have some people watch some sprint week races, from say, Arizona, and say man did you see those races at Kokomo and Putnamville and etc? We HAVE to go out for Sprint week next year! You never know, you may be able to pick up a few fans from this deal. The only thing I can't stand about the Live Broadcasts is the complaining. I have seen those guys bust their ass to try to give people a good broadcast. But they DON'T charge, and use what equipment and internet connections are available, and when it doesn't work, people get on here and complain like it is just OWED to them to get to see the best drivers in the country race for FREE. If you want the best quality and no glitches, go to the races, if you can't get there I am sorry, but at least you're not sitting around for your speed sport to come to even find out who WON. Those guys have taken a lot of grief, but yet continue to try to do what they can for you fans to see these races.
This is just my opinion. |
Re: USAC Webcasts
nothing like being there for sure. I will travel up to 200 miles usually on weekends...taking this weekend off and staying home though. I hope the Iowa double header with usac is on live. we spin the monitor to the window in the back yard, fire up the bon-fire, get the lawn chairs out and go racin! had a heck of a party when usac ran the big pavement track in Iowa. Really a great thing to have these days.
I thank USAC and Dean for their efforts. |
Re: USAC Webcasts
Due to health reason my dad can not make it to the track like he used to, the live feed lets him keep an eye on Josh from the comfort of his chair. Dad was a car owner and drove a push truck for years, if he had a choice he would rather be at the track instead of sitting in front of a monitor. Thank you very much for providing the webcasts for people like my dad that do not get around like they used too. :22:
