Re: Animals at the track

My dad brings his dog Rufus to the races almost ever weekend. He is very well behaved and loves watching the races and I do mean he watches. Rufus is my dad's new child. No one seems to have a problem when the drivers bring there dogs and tie them up next to the hauler. I bet ten to one that someone will walk in between that trailer at some point. I do agree that bringing the dog inside stores is just down right wrong unless you have a need for one or it is a pet store. The races though are outside in open area pets should be more then welcomed with some rules just like a parks and other places. You need to clean up after your pet. Tracks are now mandating that you pick up our trashes and some are even passing out trash bags. It should be mandatory that you pick up after your pet no matter where you are. You may thing that going to the field at THAT will work but those are soccer fields and part of the fair grounds that again at some point someone will walk through. If you feel like you need to bring your dog bring something to pick up after it.

I worry more about Bob than I do Jade.

We're over-generalizing here, folks. If all dogs were like Jade, there would be fewer complaints. If all dog owners/race fans were like Bob and Monica, again, there would be fewer complaints.

I love most dogs. For the unruly ones, I blame the owners.

If I see a dog in an inappropriate place, restaurant, etc., I leave and tell a manager if one can be found.

What are the laws in Indiana about having dogs in public places? In Wisconsin nobody brings dogs in any type of store or restaurant that i have seen. Of course i have seen dogs at race tracks here but people don't bring them in places of business in my area. That's just a :42:: in my book.

I take my boy to the track whenever I can. I am sure to clean up after him and keep him on a leash and under control. It aint the dogs that are the problem, it's the owners with no manners or common sense.

here is my boy at Path Valley

Show me a person that does not like dogs and i will show you a person that i dont wish to hang with..A dog gives alot more to his owner then he takes, anyone who has had there best friend put down totally understands that. I dont go to places like race events and such if i cant bring my beagle with me!!

You have to know your Coons!!! (Inside joke between me,Bob & Monica, and a few others!!)

Good thing there wasnt a potato chip taped to the raccoons ass or Aero's dog might have chased it!!

I was at the old Dayton Speedway about 35 years ago and a fan had a pet skunk with him! The skunk stayed with the owner the whole time (no leash) and never ventured away from him. He zig-zagged in and out of his owners legs whenever he would walk somewhere.
