This post does a good job of expressing my opinion.

Re: One Driver, New Team, Who you got?

My veteran pick - J.J. Yeley or Dave Darland

You can look up the records that both of these drivers have established for themselves. They've ran quite a bit of dirt and pavement with a ton of success.

If you're going for just the dirt, then I'd throw Cottle and Stanbrough in the mix. They've obviously got a ton of talent and the experience to get the job done, night in, and night out.

My "long shot" young gun pick - Tate Martz

I'm one of those that always tosses his name out there, I know he's a long shot, but I believe in this kid. I wasn't sure how he would progress after moving from go-karts. However, he took an old pavement style TQ and made it competitive. After that, he went on the win Focus championships, including pavement and dirt. Toss in some USAC regional midget and UMRA TQ wins. He most recently took an old TQ and finished second in points last season. This season he was looking to do one better, but a situation beyond his control trashed his car and eliminated him from the championship hunt.

I can't let Hunter, Cole, Brady, Chad and Chris go without some sort of mention. They're all young stars in the making. You can't go wrong with any of them, in my opinion! I've really been impressed with all of these guys. They make open wheel racing a blast to watch! We sure are lucky...

Re: One Driver, New Team, Who you got?

I would have to run a 2 car team. Team one would have Danny Stratton driving the dirt and Bobby Santos on the pavement. My second team would have Chad Boat on the dirt and Dave Steele on the pavement...

If i had to pick one and only one driver i would take chad boat hands down...

Not trying to start a argument as this was a fun thread, but look at the numbers he has put up. I'm sure Jon knows what the foxes boys do to the car. Not a expert but it seems he does better in a five bar car, not that he can't drive anything else, but his numbers are better in a five bar. I watched the foxco team at Brownstown when Larwrenceburg rained out and they showed up late the only thing they did when they showed up late was WIN, (took right rear off and put it back on again) they did nothing to the car for two different tracks.

give him his credit the man can drive!:respect

Re: One Driver, New Team, Who you got?

Well I must say that I would put my money on Dave Darland. :checkered: His Knowledge on how to set a car up and drive is remarkable.... If he has a team that will listen to his wisdom..then their are sure to bring home the wins... From a owners point of view I would choose Dave because he takes care of his ride and it doesn't go to the pits on a hook :nonwingfan:

Re: One Driver, New Team, Who you got?

Two car team: Dave Darland because he is a savy veteran and his experience and Knowledge are priceless and he is a winner and Brad Sweet, a veteran in his own right though only 22 who can win in a winged car, traditional car or the midget and still has room to pick up a ton of knowledge from a guy like DD. Put a couple guys like that together and I don't believe it would be to tough to find the winners circle on a consistant basis.

hey you got daron clayton right for the team name but brady short is one of the most boring drivers to watch he just bumps it around the bottom. im not saying he isnt talented because he does win quite a bit of races but he is not at all a <balls out> type of guy

I hope that you're laughing because it's a joke to think the #18 Chevrolet had the same stuff as the #20 Chevrolet.

The #18 team used to be a stellar team back in the day, with Bobby Labonte. The team as a whole struggled for a few years, before J.J. came along. The #18 team now has a big sponsor (M&M Mars) and look how they've turned it around. It's just like the #11 team, after their first year struggles. I'm guessing FedEx put the pressure on JGR and they turned it around. Who's suffering now? Well, it appears the #20 team...

No whats a joke is that your saying that the driver has nothing to do with the cars success. J.J sucked in nascar (sorry) but let be real here.... and its Joe Gibbs racing and im sure he had stellar equipment and if you were to put Stewart in that car im damn sure it would of ran a whole hell of a lot better.. And another thing about the 11 car.. The first driver was Jason Leffler, who i put in the J.J. catagory (sucks in NASCAR) than you put a Denny Hamlin in that same car and it starts to RUN BABY!!! FEDEX didnt do s***, the driver did... And yes 20 is struggling but than again he is most likely thinking about next year in his own car.. But dont get me wrong im not defending Stewart casue i think he is the biggest baby in the sport but you do gotta respect his driving a lot!!

A young man named Todd Kirkman. This kid is one of the most impressive guys I have ever seen drive a micro sprint. He deserves a shot with someone.Ive seen him win races with bent axles flat left front tires(which you dont need if your gassin it) He can flat drive.I believe he has ran about 45 races this year and won 18 or 19.And I may be wrong but can only think of 4 or 5 of those where he finished out of the top 5.I don't care what kind of racin your doin thats a pretty good record!:thumb

I am going to have to agree with Todd Kirkman. The guy can drive the wheels off of a micro. I guarantee he can drive a sprint car. I know it is a BIG difference but with a little bit of laps under his belt, I bet he would be up front. My pick would have to go to him.

Re: One Driver, New Team, Who you got?

AanazukuSince I live on the west coast my choice would come from the ranks of USAC/CRA. Tony Jones is by far the most popular and marketable driver among the ranks of western drivers. He spends countless time in the pits after the races signing autographs for a large group of race fans. He is the last to leave the track. From old timers to young children he is worshiped for his driving skill and personality. His interviews are always entertaining and for all of those reasons, even though Tony is somewhere around 37 or so, he is the one I would want to have start a new team. Of course my choice would include both Mark and Steve Alexander turning the wrenches. I have to admit though Hunter Schurenberg is a driver that has caught my imagination. His one run this summer, that I happened to catch on video, was amazing. It may have been Kokomo, can't remember for sure, but he was amazing passing cars up high just inches from the wall. I can't wait to watch him on the PAS clay in less than two weeks. :Steer
