A lot of the crowd booing Abreu for his slider on Bright and then cheering for Bright...apparently everyone forgot when Bright took out the leader Pickens earlier in the race with nearly the same move.

Before results, I made me almost embarassed to be a openwheel fan sitting by Rico's Mom while half the crowd booed and when you point out that Karma's a B**** as Bright hit Pickens in the exact same way. They look at you like your crazy. Thought they were nice people they didn't deserve the boos. Every driver out there would have taken that chance for the lead. Midgets are a bit different than sprints you jump off the gas or on the brake and they load up and do not take off again like the sprints. Anyhow, I was wowed, Glad there was a cushion to lean on and it wasn't real dusty for the features. The racing, EXCELLENT and INTENSE. Midgets Per www.usacracing.com Lawrenceburg, Indiana.……Rico Abreu continued what has been a sensational 2014 Honda National Midget season with his third win of the year on Saturday, a frenetic affair that featured countless slide-jobs around the high-banked Lawrenceburg Speedway. Alex Bright edged Michael Pickens back to the line to lead lap one, but Pickens took command as they ran the extreme high line. Pickens and Bright were setting a torrid pace early, encountering traffic as Bright closed for the lead. A turn-one slide-job followed, and the two made contact in the middle of the corner with Pickens getting up into the concrete and collapsing his front end. He was done for the race. After that, Bright was in command as Abreu worked on Tracy Hines for second, and cars were racing all over behind them. Brady Bacon was moving his way through the field, using every inch of the wide race track. Abreu closed on Bright for the lead and pulled the trigger into turn-one on lap 27, and again the lead duo ended up in the same spot, this time with Bright on the short end as he struggled to regain control exiting turn-two. As his front-end bounced around, Abreu raced away and scored a relatively easy win aboard the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports – Toyota TRD #97 Bullet/Speedway Toyota. “Whether they boo me or cheer for me, I’ll be at Kokomo tomorrow night driving just as hard. Alex (Bright) is a hell of a driver, and both of us are running as hard as we can. He got the short end of the stick on that one. I just have to thank my guys for giving me an incredible car once again. It’s good to be back in victory lane now after the injury. You have to respect these cars, as I’ve had my fair share of big ones,” Abreu said to a boisterous Lawrenceburg crowd. Bright held second until the final lap, when he could hold on no more and bounced to a stop through turn-three just as Abreu was taking the checkers. Hines had flashed by with the runner-up spot aboard the Parker Machinery – Turbines, Inc. #24 Spike/Stanton Toyota. “I had a front-row seat for a lot of wild slide-jobs tonight, and they were from everybody. Our car was pretty good, and I’m happy to finish out a long day with a good finish after coming from the Silver Crown race at Gateway,” Hines said. Friday night winner Christopher Bell returned to the podium with a strong run in third, again in the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports – Toyota TRD #71 Bullet/Speedway Toyota. “Hats off to the track crew for giving us a great race track where we could move around. what a great nite of racing/ track was good all nite (could'a been a little tackier, but held up well under 35 midgets, 27 sprints and 17 mods) the midget feach was incredible, rico threw and landed a slider that turned bright around, but he somehow managed to keep er goin, with a couple laps to go. bright was running 2nd then and got tangled with the wall in turn 3 on the last lap, rico won and everyone was shouting a'beu, a'breu, or was that boo, boo? then out came the sprinters and they put on an insanely fantastic display of throwing caution to the wind, with some of the wildest non-stop blitz of slidejobs ever seen, with windom in the lead and ballou, darland and grant tossin some o the biggest sliders ever with the passees liftin and crossin over lookin much like scottish weavers workin on a black watch plaid weave, with all 4 under a blanket. seems like everyone out there were running harder than the cars were designed to endure as pieces and parts kept comin off. I've never seen anyone drive harder than Robert ballou did tonite. he bounced off of the walls in the turns as well as the back stretch and front stretch too and ended up in a wad between 3 n 4 with a couple laps to go. hats off to windom for driving a flawless race. congrats windom and Abreu and salute to hard chargers ballou and bright! thank you track prep and a bunch of fearless and talented drivers (both midgets and sprints) :9:for one of the best shows ever!
