Re: BOSS Sprints @ LBurg June 8th
In Cleves just a little Northeast of the track we are starting to get sunshine after a cloudy morning. The only shower close by went North toward Oxford. WCPO meteorologist says no real chance of rain until Sunday night.
Let's go racing. |

Beautiful day here in The 'Burg with no rain in the forecast. Let's all get out to a track somewhere. Surely there is a race close enough or of enough interest to you all to jump in the family truckster and head out. Pick a venue and LET'S GO RACIN'. :23:

Re: BOSS Sprints @ LBurg June 8th
A little green on the radar. After the last 2 races (not counting WoO), I'm wondering if I should chance the 10 minute drive.:D

Re: BOSS Sprints @ LBurg June 8th
Looked like Grant had a RR going down on the Elson #27. As Bob said, he was coming hard. Good racing all night. Hated to see Dakota Jackson dump hard. He's one of our Section "A" boys. Ran his yegas off to grab the last transfer spot in his heat. Cummins was strong all night as was C.J. Leary.
Was good to see Rusty McClure, Dennis Rodriguez, and Jason Knoke in the pits. Been awhile. Nice car count, good friends, and good racing. Beats the heck out of June 1012 for me. ;) I'll leave the race report to Chuck N. and others. :22: |

Re: BOSS Sprints @ LBurg June 8th
WAY TOO MUCH ACTION to go through everything, Every class had excellent two, three and four wide racing all night long, Cars coming from the back to run top three etc, etc. Track was damn near perfect except that hole in one that just seems to never go away. Hope it rains next week too by nature or that big yellow truck cause that track is always best when you can barely pack it in! (I say that because one of the push trucks was sliding down the bank near the track entrance) AFTER 3 HEATS!
Moffatt made the move he had to make to win on a lap eight restart coming from third to first in one move. He proceeded to drive off as Burdette, Grant, Leary Taylor, JR Douglas battled behind him. Grant came from P6 and was running down Moffatt during the final 10 circuits but I don't know if it's because he jumped the cushion on lap 21 and caused the tire to lose air or if it was going down and caused him to jump the cushion. But he held on for 2nd in the former track champion Elson Team 27 Sprinter. Congrats Joss. Mods were won by Kramer handily, But the racing was stellar with Weasel Rhodes (Man I wish he wouldn't retire finished second from 13th and one of the best runs I've seen by Chuck Griffiths to finish thrid. Adam, Hamilton and last years champ Scotty Kincaid got into each other early and it looked as if bad blood was being brewed. Both finished, Not where they wanted but they finished. BEST RACE OF THE NIGHT was Street Stocks as Hensley, The tool man and Rocky Standish all swapped the lead several times. About lap four of the race Standish make a MONSTER SLIDE JOB passing both Hensley and Tool Man in turn one. I didn't see the contact but coming off turn Four, Tool man did a One over flip. On the restart Hensley took the lead, Lost the lead on about lap ten and made the winning pass on lap thirteen. WOW, What a race. I left during the Hornet race when Gage Clark took a flip after breaking a wheel off. Was told he was alert and moving but they were going to have to cut cage off to get him out. Great night at the burg! BTW, It rained everywhere but THERE around here at one time or another, I drove through three spots of showers on my way home near Kings Island. Hooven, Mt. Healthy and Fields Ertel. Great to see Joss Moffatt get another win in this still young season. After just a horrible 2012 it's good to see his fortunes turn around.
Justin Grant in 'don't forget about me' form made it interesting as he used every square inch of race track to real in Joss. He made it interesting at the end but the reality is was fighting time. Ther just wasn't quite enough of it. We really thought Brett Burdette was the car to beat and early on in the feature he was just that. Although he was strong the entire race he had to tackle the liability of having me predict him to win. He might as well have been on the cover of Sports Illustrated. 37 cars on the grounds proves the BOSS series continues to be on the upswing. Good crowd in the stands that could rival a USAC show. Fishburger, Ed, Danny Burton, Dirt 300 ZMan (a short distance away) and myself were mainstays of the dreaded Section A (or 8) bunch. During the red in the feature my cousin Melissa and her boyfriend Kent joined in as well. It's been a while since I've seen a sprint car turn a wheel. It's so good to be back. |

Re: BOSS Sprints @ LBurg June 8th
J R Douglas in the sprints. Did he use to run a mortified?
|
No, he ran mini-sprints and then ran sprints for a few years before taking a year off in 2012.

I agree it was a great crowd and standing in the main gate line for a change I chatted with several who brought their kids and said they don't get to the track much cause its expensive. There was a 20 minute main gate line from 5-7pm but it appeared most got in before first race.
Made a pass through section A during hornet heats to find not one of the crew there but section C had a huge Boespflug contengent of fans, The T shirts gave it away. We sure miss seeing him run weekly with us! Great night of racing, Did I say that before? See you at Midget week! |
That would be s I remember you come over and visit hope see you soon

Re: BOSS Sprints @ LBurg June 8th
J.R. Douglas impressed the heck out of me last night considering how little he's been at the Burg these past couple years. Cummins was strong too. Im guessing a test for Sprint Week?
