Re: Word around the campfire
I ate supper with Paul Hazen tonight and he confirmed that the seat of the 57 is open for 2013.
|
One thing not mentioned here, on a halfway serious note, is the driver of the hazen 57 this year, jon sciscoe, won his last race in the car nd a few others. He was never asked to make this seat available, he ran hard from the first night at gas city when he ran 2nd by a foot, till the win in late september at putnamville. Same chassis, shocks, motor, and most importantly same 50 year car owner on his feetsmiling at the end of the last race. Huh, what wild ideas paul hazen and jon sciscoe had, go racin, roll it in the trailer, win your share and be a nightly top five contender, and have a blast.doing it on a budget that has no extra 0's to tap into.Yet not one word will be said about jon cause he doesnt get on here and tell everyone how great he is every day. Biased opinion you say, not the case. He may be my brother in law but i have beat him over the head with a shovel before(premeditated i must add) , so bias has nothing to do with this in fact he will probably choke on his breakfast sandwich reading this friday morning. If there are any other car owners who want to race for the same reasons paul does, (based a little further south of ft wayne preferably) , jon sciscoe would be a good choice

Re: Word around the campfire
Paul had nothing but great things to say about Jon.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Jamie Frederickson is not going to hazen's #57 . He is staying in the #58 car. Tony's non wing car might not be next year.

Oh forgot one. I am the new surprise Hoffman driver. Getting fitted for my mean green suit right now.

I have heard rumors that Epperson Painting is going to ask me to come out of retirement and be teammates to the Throttle in a newly restored Golden Greek (John Caples Chassis), same car I ran on pavement many moons ago. I sure hope GO-Fast can locate the car and convert it over to dirt so I can debut in Florida. I also heard that if I am competitive @ Bubba's Raceway Park that we might put a wing on it and run with Allstars and Outlaws at Volusia and If Im competitive there we may just run for WOO championship and then run USAC on the weekends WOO is off. This all depends on sponsorship money and if I can lose about 50 pounds and get in shape by then. That Campfire smoke was blowing down wind to Plainfield that night. Breaking news Epperson just walked into my office and ask me if I would be willing to dust off the VW midget and compete for the USAC National Midget Title. :32:

Re: Word around the campfire
Went to a strip club with Smoke last night and he confirmed that Steve Kinser has decided to run for the USAC title next year! Also, Micheal Andretti is coming out of retirement to run Silver Crown and finally put an end to his regret for not ever running dirt!

Re: Word around the campfire
I've heard that a top team from the west coast is going to run for the National sprintcar title, the potent Herman Puller Special will be heading east for the start of the season and be driven by the highly aclaimed Willie Flippit, with the very successful crew chief Seymour Butts turning the wrenches. This will definitely be a team that will shake things up a bit.I forgot to add that they will have corporate backing from Flowmax and the I.P. Freely corporation.

I hope me and Billie can still get along Hoffmans just called me and want me to run the second mean green car cant believe their getting off the coil over stuff for us and goin to DRC billie must be a good talker...

Re: Word around the campfire
None of these rumors will happen unless there is a deal made between drivers and track owners. There is a lockout on all tracks and promoters. unless a deal can be made soon. All the tracks are wanting to add slot machines, and if a deal is'nt reached by Jan 1, there will be no racing anywhere in 2013.
|
So let me get this straight Dave. From my understanding you never want the purse money to never leave the track???? You know every racer is a gambler. I will sign but only if you have texas holdem tables with real dealers. Pretty sure that will sway shu and robbie too.

Re: Word around the campfire
You got it!! by the way will will have a onsite pawn shop available all season. the newest complaint will be the slots are too dry!! www.lawrenceburgspeedwayandcasinoandpawnshop.com for more info.

Re: Word around the campfire
Also, if a deal is reached, we will be making snow on the 3/8ths in early January and will have a good 3 foot snow surface for our first annual Snow Sprint 50, paying 10,000 pulls to win on our newest slot machine.
more info at www.lawrenceburgsnowsprint50.com |
Yes!! And the rooms will be to dusty and the floors to ruff.

Re: Word around the campfire
We have been working with Hoosier Tire to develop a special snow tire for this race also.

I'm starting to think that some of this may not be completely true..

Billy you might have hit on something. Thinking get 10 sprint drivers together for a holdem game at the shoestring swap meet. All the guys MICed up. $50 buy-in winner donates the winnings to there favorite charity (In honor of IOW). This could be very entertaining... Just a thought

I'm in on the Holdem game

Heard yesterday Bopper and Poncho are making a comeback in a brand new design Stapp Sprinter. Shooting to get the USAC feature win record back from Hoffman while making a run at the USAC Sprint title in 2013.. Looks like next year is going to be exciting!!!!!

Re: Word around the campfire
hit the powerball ! made these moves.
1. called Pensky to see how much it would take to buy 6 rides for sprint car drivers of my choice for indy cars. Even though i can't stand street race, follow the leader events. 2. also asked him for same thing in NASCAR but only want to start out in Nationwide and work up from there. 3. purchasing time on speed channel for (20) one hour a week programs, broadcast in off season showing heats, semis and features of ( ALL) sprint week , kokomo smack down and big money races at all other Indiana tracks. 4. arranged limo rides to an event of the week for marv, chuck, danny and his grandson. each may take a friend so you need to be nice to them, maybe buy them a christmas gift, to receive an invitation. :6:;) |
Shu or Ballou or anyone else that wants to run all three divisions of USAC call RW Motorsports. They are wanting to put forth an effort to do the Triple Crown with one driver.
