$2.89/gal. yesterday with 1000 Kroger points. I eat at Bob Evans most mornings :16 so I buy myself Bob Evans gift cards at Krogers. $25.00 gift card gets you double (50) points and most recently quadruple (100) points. Works for me. :6:

We need a new boss that does not have his hand in the back pocket of the oil companies. The last 2 bosses we have had is and was in their back pocket.

I thought you all might find this interesting:

Gas prices could keep increasing for the rest of the summer if the federal government forces a pipeline company to keep a main supply line to the Midwest shut down while the company proves it can operate it safely.

The pipeline problems — coupled with refinery breakdowns and rising crude oil prices — pushed the average price of Midwest gasoline to $3.95 on Friday, which was 39 cents more than the national average, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

Enbridge owns and operates a 467-mile stretch of pipeline that brings Canadian crude to Illinois for Midwest customers. It has been shut down after spilling more than 1,200 barrels near Grand Marsh, Wis., on July 27, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, or PHMSA.

The pipeline hasn’t been restarted — cutting off supply and pushing retail gas prices up — because the federal government added a rare requirement Wednesday that Enbridge submit a detailed restart plan and undergo a third-party audit.

Marv I am just glad you can still go to Bob Evans and Kroger's, Having you around knowing what you have been thru makes gas prices seem small. On a side note Monday thru Friday on wlw 700 am from midnight to five am they talk about gas prices and what is going on in the first few min. of the program.

The main profit on a gallon of gas sold goes to the Federal gov. in tax with states right there, too, with their tax. All this money is supposed to go to maintain transportation infrastructure yet all we hear is how the infrastructure is failing. There is not enough money in this country to ever afford the bloated, inefficient and self-serving monstrosity in Washington D.C., otherwise known as Fedzilla. And it will only get worse. Trust in the Lord, not the gov. Amen, brethren.

Just as a reminder the highest avg price per gallon in the month is Aug is the price it is today.. The price of gas in Feb of 2009 was $1.85.. ;)

I just noticed stations around me that were selling E85 are not selling it anymore
Does that mean they quit selling it or Unleaded Reg is now E 85?

How is the tax on gasoline considered profit? With the trillions of dollars that the government is in debt, how is that profit? The tax rate doesn't change to make the price go up, it's the greedy oil companies coming up with flimsy excuses how they can raise the price 20 or 30 cents a gallon at a time to screw Joe Sixpack.

I just got rid of my old gas guzzling car two weeks ago and got a 2012 AMERICAN MADE (KC,KS) Chevy Malibu with a 4 cylinder Flexfuel Ecotec engine. Mileage is great - mid 30's highway and mid 20's city. But now E85 is getting harder to find (1 station within 5 miles of me) and is getting more expensive because the corn crop is hurting with the drought.

Since I now have a car with much better gas mileage, I figured I can afford to go to more races. Now the gas price is jumping way up and I also have to make car payments...shoot...I can't win. I should have thought this out more carefully.:14:

They, as well as all retailers, get a "collection"fee, on the taxes they collect, and send to the govt, but it isn't much, I would think maybe it's gone up, since I closed my Outdoor Power Equipment business, but I think it's around .001%, so they do make a "profit" off the taxes. Bob!

But that wont affect us. Just like the refinery problems in the Chicago area only affected the Ind,Mich,Ill,Wisc,Oh area. That is in Cali and will affect that area

A silver dollar would buy four gallons in 1964....today it would buy six gallons. The real whining begins when you can't find any fuel.

Ever heard the old adage "Gas prices go up like a rocket and come down like a feather" ?

Re: Gas prices

Wait till you see the gas prices after this weekend in California with that refinary on fire!! They just said they could go up 30 to 40 cents a gallon this week(in western states). It is kinda interesting watching all the people upset because the plant is smoking and they are not sure what the health affects will be.

They also compared states as to what the average person spends on gas compared to there income. Some states were as high as 15% of what they make a month going to fuel costs. Take that increase along with food prices and it makes me wonder how someone can sit there and scratch there head and say i wonder why people arnt racing or going to the races anymore..:14:
