I wasn't there dnt know exactly what happened but at least Coleman showed emotion and truly cares about racing as all drivers do and if he was intentionally wrecked then so be it but bashing him on a website that his parents use isn't cool thanks Chris for the updates

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
Sprint Week is the most intense racing of the year. The passion and emotion drivers and crews display makes this the best week of the year!
|
Oh come on, the guy does physical violence on another driver but we shouldn't mention it because his parents might read that not everyone thinks their little darling is so cute? Wake up people!

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
I gotta agree with Tipover on this one! I saw Gullick act like a little spoiled brat with a big ego twice last year. Maybe his daddy will buy him another steering wheel but i would have loved to see him pull that with Bob Kinser or Barrel Fisher!!!!
|
Physical violence?? Lol come on maaaan! ; ) how bout the fact Coleman was pretty lucky not to go for a big ride, as a result of another driver, intentional or not, if your butt was in that seat, you might have been a little upset too... Just sayin.. Entertaining night at the track for sure, if you didn't like it, they have monster trucks there next week... On to Kokomo

You obviously have something personal against Gulick and his family, and for that I feel terribly sorry for you. They have always seemed very respectable both on here and at the track. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
Tipover you have a right to your opinion but please sign your name to it or keep it to yourself

Its racing and things happen people lose their tempers both drivers thought they did nothing wrong and the cars don't have mirrors to tell them when someone is there. Oh well both fared well in the race that mattered.. Now enough non sense talk everyone should be talking about the racing that was going on for the lead the first 28 laps of tonights feature.

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
Track was dusty Some of its the difference between hundred mph speeds and eighty at other tracks. Some of its from being sealed. Most don't realize the track had a bad storm for about 20 minutes about noon. I had no dust whatsoever on me or my car parked right off turn one Don't know about back straight peeps.
If you didn't like that, You just don't like racing! I've never seen anyone drive the track like Clauson did tonight, Just flat our everything he could get out of a race car. Rooster Tails off the backstraight wall. Not once, EVERY LAP! I felt bad for him getting the flat. It is what it is. DD, Drove a flawless race for 28 laps and one end around ruined it. The lead certainly wasn't the place to be. Stanbrough biked it on the start. Windom hit the berm that was the cushion durring the heats and did a head over heals. 4of the top five started 11th or further back. DAYM THAT WAS A GREAT NIGHT. CONGRATS TO JUSTiN GRANT who's won 4 of the last 5 at the Burg and his first USAC National win :8:. Damion through perseverance got second, Gulick third. Mods put on a good feature as well. With John Weasel Rhodes winning his first in the Bicycle car at the Burg. |
Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
I will be buying me a Gullick T-Shirt this week, we all have an opinion.
Everyone on the backstretch was cheering, that sh1t is good, love some emotion an passion, love that he did it on the track so we all could see! And so do most of you! Went to a sprint car race, saw guys race their guts out, saw some emotion, got dirty, had a blast!! IMO Gullick showed his displeasure with a competitor that made e BAD BAD move, if CG had flipped and been injured some would want the 32 punished! So the kid threw a steering wheel, whats wrong with showing some emotion? 25 seconds ago he was racing his ass off in a 1200 lb car with 800 horsepower, then twirling down the straight at 80+ mph. Did you expect him to get out ,wave to the crowd, and walk off. Dam, that is just not sprint car worthy!!:31: |
ill be proudly sporting my new Coleman Gulick tshirt tomorrow at Kokomo!

I enjoy watching Coleman race, even bought one of his shirts this weekend but don't agree with his actions. If USAC was consistent, he would've been done for the night, as he should've.
With that said, I thought he ran a heck of a race. Didn't have a car to contend for the lead but drove a smart consistent race and ended with a top 5. Posted via Mobile Device |
I wasn't there to see the move, but that's why I like that kid..he drives with passion and emotion. He's a winner. He's a gasser for sure. That's why I root for him and his family are the nicest and friendliest people you'll ever find at the race track. I'll be cheering him on today at Kokomo

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
From my perspective most people I meet are rich so maybe that doesn't bother me so much.:3:
From what I saw a half a track away is Gulick getting turned around before he had a chance to make his moves to the front. It could have been a worse deal from a danger standpoint but it wasn't. The #32 bad move. The #14 I didn't see the steering wheel being thrown out of the car but there are enough witnesses to say he did. Probably not the best move by Gulick but considering the situation I could understand first hand his frustration especially with sprint week and all. I have talked to the Shockens and the Gulicks over the years and both families seem to be genuinely nice groups of people and the drivers are very talented as well. Hopefully any ill feelings between the two drivers, if any, can be resolved quickly. I saw an excellent race. I'm very happy for Justin Grant. How could you not like this kid? :6: At the same time I feel bad for BC, DD and the Throttle. Any one of them could have brought it home P1 last night but that's racing. I got to see Racegal and her sister once again plus the Mayor of Lawrenceburg is once again sitting in his familiar perch which means all is right with the world. The only bad is I missed out on some delicious fried chicken earlier in the evening due to an afternoon family commitment. I promise never to let that happen again if I ever get another chance.:15: Let's go racing. |
Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
Don't remember which restart it was, maybe the next to last one, but that battle between BC and DD was flat out awesome. Noticed that BC is starting to get the Jeff Gordon treatment as a huge cheer went up when his tire went flat. Does anybody think that he may have scraped the turn 2 wall a time or two and damaged that tire? Right against it every lap.

I am surprised that there is no discussion about Ballou and Jones incident after the heat. I was at the track but did not see what happened between those two.
I was glad to see Justin get the win. The "right place at the right time." It has been great to see this young man develop. Well deserved win. Let me state for the record. Taping down of seats continues to be B.S. It continues to be total crap that tracks have allways and continue to allow this...I don't care if it is ISW. I pay my admission like everyone else. If I was a new sprint car fan I don't know if I would come back. Last night the only seats not taped off were the bottom 10 rows and I got there 45 minutes before hot laps. Anyway, hats off to Justin. Dave another good show Thank You Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
Spectacular race last night ( & Friday night also). Also a few comments and corrections from others posts...no one has mentioned a sight no one has ever seen before, and that is a driver standing a sprint car on its tail...and having it stay there! With apologies to HARF Driver of the Year Chris Windom, having a great starting spot for the feature and then flipping, but the sight of the beautiful #5 sprint car remaining straight up after the flip was a bizarre sight, glad to see CW jump right out and i know he'll be back tonight at Kokomo with fire in his eyes again. The Gullick/Stockon clash started so simple, Stockon was high off of 2, came down to settle back into a racing line and touched tires with Gullick, Coleman was lucky he didn't take a rougher ride, even though i'm sure the bouncing and spinning down the backstretch was rough enough. Coleman's action following that can best be descibed as "in the heat of the moment", and probably by now are forgotten. As a previous post said, the lead was not the place to be, the maddest driver of the night should be Bryan Clauson, taking the white flag, ready for the Victory, 2 in a row during Sprint Weeks, and then someone spins, yellow comes out, and tire goes down. First to last in an instant. The DD/BC battle at the end and the slide jobs back and forth might be the highlite of ISW, but sitting back in 3rd was a quiet Justin Grant, just waiting...Congrats to Justin, a huge win for you during ISW's & 1st USAC National WIN! Looking forward to an even better race tonight at Kokomo, see you there, bob.

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
I will admit I cheered a bit. Not for Bryan getting a flat, but for Justin getting the lead. This kid has got it going on. It' s always nice to see a lower budget team win. Congrats to Justin and Mark Henry for getting a huge win.

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
You go Coleman!!!!! I been watching races for many years Old School of course. Seen many things fly, many tempers flare including the Kinsers, and even A.J. Foyt. Smashing the computers I guess he's old school too! Most of you no idea as to what Coleman's parents have done to help auto racing out. No need to pick on someone just for throwing a steering wheel. Enough said. Thanks, Chris for the updates.:deadhorse:

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
I didn't see one person Boo the fact that BC got a flat, I seen a lot of Ooohing as in, (Look at that!)
Again, Ive seen a lot of people drive every different kind of line at the Burg but never seen anyone go run where nobody was running with the sheer determination that BC showed last night. In fact if you see BC right before a race, I see the focus of a racer I haven't seen the like since. RICH VOGLER! Well maybe a silent gasser as well. :) |

I think this was more of the fans cheering for Justin getting the lead, not Bryan's misfortune. Just has now won 4 of 5 down there and is becoming quite the crowd favorite. |

I agree with that. Where I was sitting I heard people cheer for Justin, but didn't seem to be against Bryan at all. Posted via Mobile Device |

Coleman is not old school let's not go that far come on. If if that was me or Ballou or any other driver this site would but wanting our heads and looking for a tall tree and some rope. Throwing your stuff at another driver is chicken Sh17. If that would have been Hewitt 5 bucks says next time around he would have stopped and givin him a good spanking. But fighting is not allowed and if it was like it was in the bob kinser days you would see alot cleaner racing cause there would be so many stupid sliders.

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
Spoiled, probley. I would consider any kid lucky enough to have a family ride in a top usac division spoiled somewhat. Theres lots of talented people out there that could run good but we'll never know because they havent gotten a break. Luck and circumstance are just as important maybe more so than having outright talent. If given the choice I'd rather be the luckiest s.o.b. then the best. Seems they have the bucks to do what they want, who can rain on that parade ? From everything I have heard about the kid he's deserving of his success, no matter how it came about.

Anyway, hats off to Justin. Dave another good show Thank You Posted via Mobile Device[/QUOTE] I saw the Ballou/Jones deal on the track and the aftermath in the pits. You want to talk about who made a donkey out of theirselves it's Mr Jones. After the checkers flew jones turns his car purposefully into Ballous car - Ballou rolls up alongside him I assume to have words - Ballou then pulls away then jones AGAIN pulls up to Ballou and drives over the front end of his car. Am heading to the pits to help my buddy and Ballou comes through the pits headed to the USAC trailer when jones begins to scream at the 81 car owner I believe - older guy. Jones is screaming something to the effect of "how much you want $100 $200 who cares that's nothing" which didn't make a lot of sense till later. Then DD/Walker and Ballou I thought was having words but walker is patting Ballou on the back and shaking hands so it was all good with them apparently. Here's where the back story is - apparently DD squeezed a close pass on Ballou in heat - Ballou made contact with DD rear bumper but got off the gas right as there was contact - jones had no choice but to check up also or he would have hit both DD & Ballou. Apparently this move cost jones the heat transfer which was why after the checkers he decided to use his car to hit Ballou twice. Word is USAC will be fining jones $200 for his actions - which is why jones was screaming who cares $100 $200 that's nothing. What a crock - you got one guy by the balls for 6 race probation for something that happened under green flag racing - then you got a guy who runs over another car after the checkers twice and he gets a fine that's less than the cost of a right rear? Something smells bad here....... Not to mention jones letting everyone know $ ain't no problem for them what's $200 to TSR? So here's what I got to say - I don't like spoiled rich race teams acting like they can do whatever because they got deep pockets. So to any budget driver that gets hosed by jones for the remainder of sprint week and wants to hit the # 20 with their car after the checkers I'll pay your $200 fine just send me a PM Thanks Jimmy |
Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
I like Coleman AND Chase. Young hard chargers who are dedicated and determined describes them both. I have no doubt that they will settle this between themselves and move on long before some fans will.:22:

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
I just don't understand that when these guys throw their steering wheel, why they throw it overhanded? Throw it like a Frisbee! You get much more wind-up, speed, and the accuracy is improved. And, depending on side panel configurations, it also fits the cockpit opening better. Come on guys, use some common sense when doing this. If your going to do this, make it worth your while! Don't expend the energy for a wasted shot! Just a little tidbit for the day!
|
Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
what if it was ballou that threw the steering wheel?
or tyler walker yelling at the officials? dont get me wrong....i LOVE when things get emotional....100% old school and nothing is going to change my way of looking at it. just be fair when its time to sit a driver or drivers down and have a chat......everyone should be treated, or not treated, the same. |
Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
If I don't tape down my seats someone will take them when I get up to pee. This will upset me; I have good seats because I got there when the gates opened. However, I will not take anymore seats than what I need.
|
I like the policy Kokomo has. No blankets put down before gates open, if found before they will be taken up..but that's really only applied for sprint week.
Posted via Mobile Device |
If its Danica Patrick that throws that helmet, I wonder how many "old school" fans would be buying her t-shirts. Are these tantrums being discussed from last night really any different from the tantrums she has thrown? Not standing up for her, but its interesting to see that some of the people who would bash her for it will support others doing something similar or worse.

Wingman: not retired or unemployeed. Hard workin and hard racin!!! Put in 10 today and still made Kokomo. Just sayin!

Re: Lawrenceburg ISW Updates
I understand Coleman's frustration but should of handled it in the pits after the heat race. What if his throw was bad and damaged somebody else's car? As for Jones, if you (USAC) want to get his attention take away some points not pocket change from TSR.
