Im both seriously impressed and a little jealous. To me this is just as, if not more impressive than Hewitt. This kid must have a really good inner ear...

Wow..that kid is a beast. I'm glad I got to see him twice this year since it will probably be his last year on dirt

Nooobody is supposed to do this at Eldora.

Nooooooobody does it in his first appearance there.

See Kyle soon on the Wheaties box at your nearest supermarket ! :6:

I was talking with the Budman this morning and i told him that Kyle Larson would win everything, what a great accomplishment.

Makes me madder that Work was mandatory tonight and I couldn't be there to see it.

I don't even wanna compare what Jack and Kyle did against each other as they didn't race each other either.

BOTH in their own way are simply. UNBELIEVABLE. I seen Jack and DD win two at Four Crowns that Ive attended. Never three and certainly not four and some of those guys had solid rides as well.

Still, I don't know if anyone has had as many BIG WINS in AS MANY SERIES as Larson has in One year and many of these were first or second times at each track he won at.

Congrats to the teams. Congrats to Kyle! :32:

In the midget and Silver Crown race he just drove off and left them. The stars aligned just right for him in the sprint race first Levi popped a tire while leading and took 2nd place Coons with him then Windom popped one while driving off from the field, all in the last 10 laps. He did pass Darland after that, I guess he was just having one of those nights where everything fell into place.

When Tony told Robin Miller he'd give a $10,000 kicker if Larson won them all, Robin said," You'd better have a contract with it."

The sky is the limit with this kid, and Stewart has an inside edge. He better think long and hard on weather or not he wants him to get away.

Sorry, I'm not on the 'Kyle Larson is Superman' bus........

When has he had to drive an old/tired *******, just to get a ride?

The kid got lucky, and sure as hell hasn't had to drive for an underfunded team, or had to work with mechanics/set up guys that have never 'been there and done that' before.

If he wins 2 Champ Dirt Car titles, has more 4 Crown victories than anyone else, runs the Indy 500, and ends up high on the USAC victories list....then he might be as good as Jack Hewitt, and not until.

This totally sums it up. I can't tell you how many times that we have seen everyone jump on the bandwagon for the "next hot driver".
I am throwing my congrats to the Man Keith Kunz. He and his team do an amazing job fielding cars. And has done it for years. :32:
It is no wonder that Kyle Larson won all three...
I still want to see the kid drive a ******* and see what he could do with that.

LocalYokel 9/25/11 8:46 AM

If winning all three the first time you even see Eldora doesn't impress you, than nothing will.
Most drivers have a hard enough time getting up to speed their first time there. Winning three races in three different classes? That's bananas!!

If your criteria for being as good as Jack Hewitt are winning USAC championships, then I guess he'll probably never be as good as him.
Thats only because he'll be off making millions in another series in a year...

What???? Kyle Larson was the best driver on the track last night. He had some luck in the sprint race but just flat smoked em in the midget and silver crown. He did not make one mistake in the silver crown and had to survive restart after restart. You telling me his equipment was better than Jones and Clauson's in the SC? I read on this board all summer how the Hoffman's have lost it and they just aren't good anymore. Bottom line, the best talent always ends up in the best rides. His accomplishment takes nothing away from Jack Hewitt. He may never accomplish what Jack did but I hope I get to enjoy watching him run for many years, too bad it won't likely be on dirt.

REALLY!!! Some people are amazing, "because he hasn't drove a sh1t box". This kid just stepped on the "Hollowed Ground" of the most bad-azz dirt track in the country and handed the best non-wing drivers their lunch!!! And what would you call that sprint car that he drove last night, the 69 car is like being in the penalty box and this kid wheels it to it's only 2 wins (in 2 tries)!!! REALLY!!!

SpfldMile 9/25/11 9:47 AM

Re: Posts from The 4 Crown

I wrote earlier that he has been in some solid rides, and I meant that. It was supposed to be a compliment to the Kunz and Hoffmans, and the Kaedings, not to diminish Kyle's accomplishments in any way. If anyone else feels differently, that is their opinion.

Re: Posts from The 4 Crown

He's 19, and just started racing out here this season. Nobody said you have to jump on the hottest driver next big thing bandwagon. I can think of many factors that go into the development of a career. The economy and the state of all racing are completely different then they were even 5-10 years ago.

I'd say the wing-non-wing crossover appeal of Kyle is good for "sprint" car racing. Some of us appreciate both.

You can't deny this isn't a great quote from the Robin Miller interview on speed:
“The NASCAR guys all wanted money and I don’t have any”

Let the people who don't remember Hewitt's wins, have this moment. It's a pretty good deal, USAC has had several veteran racers in decent equipment not do this over the years.

What's special to me about Kyle's year is not only has he won the Belleville Midget Nationals, a World of Outlaws race, Silver Crown races, etc; but many times this was his first time racing at the track?!

For the people bashing Larson on here musta been at home and not at the track last nite.. This guy was unbelievable in the sprint car last night... ya he did get some breaks in the sprint feature but luck is racing either good or bad....look at the last 2 laps.. he went around the top in turn 2 and schooled Dave D heading down the back stretch. He was passing guys in that same place lap after lap... the guys got it going on and impressive to see...Unless you were there last nite to see it... ZIP IT

Re: Posts from The 4 Crown

WIll I agree that Hewitt might have earned his way in a much harder fashion? Yeah. Took him 30 years to have top rides ect and he worked with these mechanics for years as well.

The kid jumped in that ******* Hoffman car, Won from 11th. Oh and the only other time he was in that ride he won Osky.

So lets see. I'll give him two years as he raced some winged out west last year.
WOO. Won
Non wing. Won
Usac National Midgets Won
Champ Cars. Won
Dirt Won
Pavement Won.
Races where he clearly had superior car....... Won
Races where he had to Baby a RR to finish let alone win.......Won
Name me the driver thats done all these in one season? Make it harder. In only two seasons in these cars? Harder still. At the first visit to a track.
Hardest yet. Three races in three different classes at a track he'd never raced on before?????????????

There is only one name and top rides or not. ONLY KYLE LARSON's done it.

While Mechanics, Cars, Money all help and are necessary. Nothing puts the pedal down. Makes the right adjustments and most importantly, Right Decisions to win other than the driver.

There might be one man Id consider to be able to achieve such and only if he'd of chosen to do all these classes and pavement/dirt/ect.
THEY CALL HIM KING! Larson easily qualify s as KNIGHTHOOD!

If he had won only one of the four crown races in his first visit to the fickle lady named Eldora I would have been impressed, but three!!!

Maybe he is not yet the next Parnelli Jones yet but this year he certainly made a strong case that this is were he is headed. Let's enjoy Kyle Larson while we can. I wouldn't doubt that the owner of Eldora may looking into this kids future.

Good rides are important. But you have to know what to do when you get there. Kyle Larson clearly does.

Bridges40 9/25/11 12:41 PM

Congratulations to Kyle Larson for an amazing night at the Big "E". I saw USAC's tweet about being the only person since Jack Hewitt to accomplish this, and was very confused. In 98' when Mr. Hewitt won the 4 Crown,he truly won the 4 Crown; as in all 4 feature wins ( that's 4 wins in a night people... Not 3 ) please understand what Kyle did was and is amazing ! My problem is the inaccuracies in whom ever tweets on behalf of USAC's tweeter account.

Truly an impressive showing by Mr. Larson. I am glad I ended up making the trip to witness some of the short history the kid is writing in the sport we all so much love on this board.

I wish Darland would have been able to gain the ground in the SC race to compete with him later on in the feature. I'm sure the favor would have been returned from the Sprint feature.

Re: Posts from The 4 Crown

I think the USAC "tweet" meant that it is the first time a driver has won all three USAC divisions in one night since the great Dew-it Hewitt did it. USAC had no affiliation with the modifieds.

LocalYokel 9/25/11 3:21 PM

It baffles me how some people aren't completely blown away by what Larson did last night, and by what he's done this year in general.
No ones seen a driver this good in a very long time, and no one will see another driver as good as him for a very long time.
Never mind that he's dominated in all of USAC's premier divisions, he also has a WoO win also. Who can name the last person to win a race in all three of USACs divisions and also win an Outlaws event in the same year? You'd have to go back at least a decade.
So what that he didn't win a E-mod race last night? The won in all the classes running last night and I think that's just as impressive as Hewitts sweep...

Bridges40 9/25/11 5:16 PM

Mr. Gardner, solid point, and thanks for bringing that up. I was under the understanding that USAC was promoting a 4-Crown and not a 3-Crown.

LocalYokel, understand that I agree with you. Kyle had an amazing night and I'm very happy for him.

Forgive me by not being totally blown away and on Kyle's band wagon as you seem to be on right now.

Due to the fact that I was racing that night at the Big "E" with my Brother and my Late Father in the Midget div. when Hewitt wrote history that night.

I was blown away when it happen for the first time not every other time it happens.

I don't want this to take away from what Kyle accomplished, because it is special.

My issue was a misunderstanding on my part regarding a Tweet from USAC. Thanks to Mr. Gardner I'm now understanding there view.

I turned to IOW for clarification regarding a Tweet, and not to take away from an amazing preformance from Kyle.

Re: Posts from The 4 Crown

Larson was in the Dooling #2 sprinter last year at Knoxville, Oskaloosa and the rest of the TNT tour. That kind of qualifies as a "**** box". He was mounting a challenge for the lead at Osky when turned her over but looked very impressive for an 18 yr. old in one of his first non-wing races.
Hewitt had top notch rides in all four divisions and 20+ years of experience at Eldora! Larson wins all 3 wingless openwheel divisions his first year......wow is all I can say!

Do they or don't they consider the winged sprint car race Friday night as the fourth of the 4 crown?

as far as Eldora's website says...the past couple years is highlighting the WoO victories as the 4th Feature for the 4 crown??

Your last paragraph cracks me up. You make it sound like Larson acted like Darland at the Kokomo sprint week race. I lost a tad of respect for him after his childish actions on that day.

Larson just put a BIG move on Dave in the Sprint Feature.

I thought he might do it but didn't really think it would happen. Great run winning all 3. The cushion was there all night at least but the dust was bad again. Hines and Tyler both complained about the track when interviewed. new clay please! Congrats to Kyle Larson again.

I agree. Dave really put on an impressive drive, and looked like he had it won after Windom blew his right rear. Those last two cautions allowed Larson to close in. Dave was equally impressive in the midget. Too bad he didn't have a qualifying time, as he would have probably started further up in the field.
We really enjoyed the racing, though. Eldora is a truly great facility. Love those patio seats.

When Larson won at Osky I wasn;t that all impressed cuz he started on the pole on a track that was pure crap with no passing all night long. Now he drives the Hoffmans ******* (kidding) at Eldora for first time and wins plus the other two races. Guess what I am impressed now :6:

Anyone who bothered to attend Du Quoin was already more than impressed. I believe it was Gary B that once said the dirt miles separate the men from the boys. Larson earned his manhood Sunday night September 4th.
