Terrible move by HAR!! Dumping two good racers in the same year and not even givin DC a full shot at alot of the tracks on the schedule. How bout get a crew chief?? Then a chassis thats worth a lick?? Still a poor call IMO. If Larson cant get the job done then the Hoffman boys only have themselves to look at. Luckily Jerry fell back on his feet after he was dumped, im sure we will see the MDC runnin soon!!

Daron told me at Terre Haute he offered the Hoffman's a brand new Maxim to run but they didn't want it. He said he wasn't comfortable in the Chalk chassis and didn't know what to do with it. The car lurched almost into the wall at THAT on the front stretch in TT's and did the same at Kville. I wouldn't want that ride right now either. I really don't think Larson will do any better and he tore up his sprint ride at Osky last year. I would've chosen Dickie Gaines for Oskaloosa considering he won it before in his own car. I don't know why everyone forgot about that great driver. Is it because he's over 30 yrs. old? I sure hope Clayton can get back in a Maxim or DRC soon. He more than deserves a good ride or sponsor to get his own car back out.

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
Burdette has had a good season for a lower budget team! Should have been in the Feature @ gas city for sprint week but just had some bad luck! Has won @ gas city and LPS. I think he would do well in a top end car like the 69.

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
Just goes to show how dedicated the hoffmans are to winning. Daron has run tons better in the Maxxim and if the hoffmans wanted to have the best combination to set themselves up for victory they should have atleast gave it a shot, not turned up their nose!

And some thought that Daron and Shelley were crazy for still wanting to win the antacid deal after he agreed to drive for HAR.....

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
Message to young Mr Larson , stay as close to Mr Kunz as you can. He will take you as far as you want to go. By the results you have had, why drive for anyone else right know?

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
The HAR 69 is a good ride no doubt but they are missing something... Drivers fire crew chiefs, car owners fire drivers, and teams try new equipment when they are struggling.... but most of the time it seems to come down to the general outlook and attitude of the people involved that make the difference!!! There are alot of guys that would love the chance to drive that racecar including me! But I think that they should really take a look at Chad Boespflug...Hes a heck of driver, and great dude and deserves to show case his talent with a team with the same goals as him!!!

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
Hoffman has some good sponsors to satisfy. Maybe Mean Green and Oyxdol didn't feel they had enough exposure for their $$$. Just thinking out loud. As long as there is more good drivers than there is good cars you are going to see this.
Love to see Chad Boesflug get a shot on the strength of his Sprint Week performances. JJ Hughes is another good shoe. Would Justin Grant change rides? Another driver with a win this year that I think deserves a shot is Brent Beauchamp. |
Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
How about the huge chance that this is simply a hoax????? Since when have the Hoffmanns ever needed to advertise on a web site forum for a driver???? Do you really think that they are at such a complete loss as to who to put in their car that they would sink to this level??? My guess is, somebody is having a good laugh right now.......JMO

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
I think destroying a car every other time he hits the track might have something to do with this.

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
While it doesn't make it any easier, every driver that drives for a car owner knows (or should know) at some point they will lose the ride. Dave Darland is one of the best sprint car drivers ever and look at how many rides he's had.

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
Who cares what I think, but Darren Hagen is a nice young man and a talented driver.
Just exchange Daron for Darren.:) |
Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
I'm one of those that think that some other things need to be looked into. I said the same thing when the Hoffman/Coons, Jr. split happened. Why not try a Maxim, Spike or DRC? I know that they tried a Maxim, I believe, last season. Did that car get destroyed, or did they give up on it?
I really think that the outcome with Daron would have been different if they were running a DRC, Maxim or Spike. However, with that being said, I saw the split coming this time. He tore up some equipment and you can't blame them for not wanting this to happen any longer. It's just a shame that the drivers keep getting swapped, but nothing else seems to change. I wouldn't be shocked if Larson did well in the #69. He's a huge talent and on a roll right now. I could be wrong, but I just don't see their equipment being consistent, which I think is the main issue they're facing. Again, as always, JMO... |

I don't see what the big to do is about this. Drivers have been getting fired from rides for ever. You have to produce in todays environment or your out. Remember, 2nd place is just the first loser. That being said, I was always told that if you do not flip a few times a year, then you are just not driving hard enough. Best of luck to the MDC.

Re: Driver needed..Dodge City & Grain Valley
Remember.....this is the same team that has employed Rich Vogler, Cary Faas, and Mark Casella. All previously known to tear up cars and drive extremely aggressive. When they hired Clayton my first thought was I hope they try a standard Maxim/DRC like he's use to or this might not last long. I guess we'll find out tonight if Larson can make it work. My adrenaline started flowing big time as soon as my eyes opened early this morning. Oskaloosa is the best track in the country for non-wing sprints in my opinion.

Easiest change to make when the crew chief owns the car is the driver.

Hell, I am old enough to remember changing rides race to race, or weekends to weekends. Every body trying to better themselves. So what is the big deal. If you are not putting money into car ownership, go sit in the stands.

They want to try a different driver for the weekend. Lets try little Swindell . He will for sure drive the wheels off. Lets see if they need a different car-driver-crew etc. :6:
